Thank You Ribbon!

I’m almost 80 years old. I was skeptical at first, but the user interface is flawless, and everything works as I expected, no surprises! My doctor was even surprised that my Home test results were spot on. The ability to run my own tests whenever I want is awesome. Thank You, Ribbon

MISLEADING web-site: monthly subscription is charged without consent

The website is designed to pull you in to purchase a Urine Test Strip test package. They promote 6, 12 and 18 month supply packages. The package is marketed with FREE medical chat support and FREE lab reports. There is NO mention of a RECURRING MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION CHARGE anywhere on the website. When you select purchase there is 2 line items on the far right: 1) Ribbon Web Ap which says FREE in big letters. then UNDER it in FAINT GREY LETTERS there is the first mention fine print: "FREE results interpretation, ongoing tracking, and secure storage for thirty days. Includes unlimited telehealth consultations. 19.99 a month thereafter. Cancel anytime." I believe this is done to sneak in a subscription since most consumers will miss this notification. Using the capital letters FREE twice is misleading on purpose. The wording should read Free for 30 days, then subscription. If I had noticed this, I never would of purchased an 18 month supply, knowing I'd be charged and extra $339.83 to use the test strips. I am upset that I didn't catch the monthly subscription until after 9 months. I feel the website is built to deceive and is misleading many customers besides myself. When I called to cancel and get a refund, they at first said they couldn't refund me. They offered to "downgrade" my subscription to 4 test reads for $4.99/month. The after I kept pressing, They agreed to cancel the subscription and then offered me lifetime access to the ap (which was originally presented as free.) After I kept pressing for a refund of the full 9 months of subscription, they offered me 2 months refund. So, I am still out 7 months subscription (7x19.99 = $139.93) which they refused to refund. I didn't ask for a refund of the test strips ($69.30 since I knowingly made that purchase.) Ribbon Check up needs to make their website more clear about the recurring subscription charge. If they were ethical, they should add a place where you click a box acknowledging agreement with the on-going subscription after 30 days. The main page should its "Free for 30 days" not just "Free". Since they are marketing to people with health issues, a vulnerable segment of people, their marketing practices should be listed as a crime since it is designed to deceive. It's overall bad business.

Your suggestion that this should be more explicit—and require clear acknowledgment—is valid, and we are actively reviewing how we present this information to prevent confusion going forward.

While refunds are guided by our internal policies, we understand why this felt unfair, especially given the length of time before the subscription was noticed. Our intent in offering a downgrade, cancellation, and lifetime app access was to resolve the issue and ensure your remaining test kits would not go to waste—not to minimize your concerns.

Unfortunately had to return

Unfortunately I was able to use the product since I am under doctors care. Therefore, I had to return the unopened kits. The customer service team was very helpful in returning them and fully refunded me. The team provided clear instructions on the return. They were extremely helpful!

I recently purchased Ribbon to try it…

I recently purchased Ribbon to try it out. The materials show an app on a smartphone. I used the QR code that came with the package and it directed me to a website where I signed up. It was unclear if there was an app for a smartphone that was part of this package. I used the website's chat function to ask about the app, and received a confirmation that you access the website on your smartphone for results. Also, the first urine after waking up in the morning is recommended for best results.

Wonderful Insight and Confidence

While I don’t have any chronic health issues (yet) and exercise regularly, I love having the ability through Rula to monitor how my body is functioning in the background. It brings me an added level of comfort and control in my effort to stay healthy and/or address physical health concerns before they develop into something that is unmanageable.

Highly recommended!

the instructions are clear and easy to follow. the experience overall is simple and one of the best things is that near instantaneous results you get right from the app! It's very nice to be able to get health updates on some basic metrics on a regular visit without having to visit a doctor and wait for the results. highly recommended!

Two weeks to get the kit and a monthly subscription

Ordered the kit which took a couple weeks to arrive - ordered on 12/20, shipped on 12/30, and received on 1/2. I could attribute this to the holidays. The kit is well produced. I took a first test which was easy to use. It showed some potentially elevated results in a couple areas, so I went the doctor who did a blood test and confirmed that while some tests might be elevated, that I didn't need to worry. The main reason for the review is the surprise $19.99 monthly charge for the web app which I missed. Not thrilled about that at all - now I have to figure out how to cancel that.

I ordered Ribbon check not realizing it had two plans . Since I didn’t need the daily test I wasn’t aware of the monthly app fee. I went through the web site and a helpful lady named Jenny brought me down to a more suitable app plan. Very quickly my situation was corrected . They have good Customer Service

I haven’t received my kits yet, but customer service was excellent!

I haven’t received my kits yet, but had an excellent experience with their customer service. Once you’re subscribed, double check to see what plan you’re on. I was automatically enrolled in their monthly Gold Level plan but had issues trying to upgrade to the annual plan (price doubled from $99 to $199. Patrick was able to change the plan to the $99, and was very knowledgeable with some other questions I had. As far as customer service is concerned, definitely feel the support is there when needed.

Opaque, sneaky pricing...

I had good customer service with Ribbon. But, the reason I called is because I was being charged $19.99 a month and I hadn't even used the product. This seems to be a substantial complaint within the reviews from users. One person said, "I rate them at four stars because they automatically sign you up for $20/month subscription fee. This is a shady practice because this charge was never noted in the check-out practice. Personally, I think they should bake in the cost to test into the cost of each strip rather than charge a monthly fee." Well, I totally and completely agree. It feels like opaque, sneaky pricing. As I said, Customer Service helped me to "downgrade" my subscription. But it should not have happened in the first place.

Took the first test strip it worked…

Took the first test strip it worked fine want to take a second one about six weeks later and the camera would not recognize the strip
Back-and-forth with Customer Service
To find out that I was subscribed, which I had no idea that I was
It still would not recognize the strip
Could not return because it was after the 30 days
They refunded the subscription which I had no idea is part of
But now I’m stuck with a whole bunch of useless strips
Stay away waste of time and money
As you well know you can not get a result with out a subscription
So using the app what would that do ..

I like the kit

I like the kit, it's very well put together which makes testing easy.
The app on your phone is simple as snapping a quick photo, and the app does the rest. There is some reassurance in seeing what's going on in your body via way of your urine samples.

You must keep paying a subscription to be able to scan the tests that you already purchased!

I purchaed 12 12 test kit for $79.99 in November and used one of them. I was planning to use a test every couple months. I did not notice that hey charged me $20 in December. I just noticed they charged me $20 in January, and promptly cancelled it. Turns out that voids the 11 tests that I already bought, as you have to have an active subscription in order to scan your tests! What a SCAM. Do not purchase from Ribbon. So basically I spent $120 to take 1 test...

Not a scam but very shady, sneaky

Most companies know that the average consumer rarely if ever read the "Terms and Conditions" at least not in any great detail and this is where I guess the "subscription" clause is thrown in. I had absolutely no idea that I signed up to pay $19.95 a month AFTER already paying $60 for the "Kit"..ok that was on me for not being diligent..I immediately cancelled, once I discovered the subscription. What really angered me was that if you cancel you also immediately lose any access to scanning any future tests even though you've made that first payment..!! Why not just allow access until that month is complete..???
