A Disappointing Experience with Unclear Charges, Condescending Responses, and Poor Customer Service

My experience with Rentola.at has been far from positive, and I feel compelled to share the details so others can make an informed decision before using their services.

Unclear Charges and Lack of Transparency

I initially signed up for what appeared to be a simple €1 payment to access 1 apartment listing for three days, but it turned out to be a trial subscription (not clearly marked as such). After four days, I was charged €39 without any clear warning. The only communication I received was an email titled “receipt” two days after the €1 payment, which deceptively hid a mention of a future €39 charge buried within the text. This was far from transparent, and the charge was not made clear during the sign-up process, raising serious concerns about how Rentola.at operates.

As a consumer, I expect businesses to clearly communicate all potential fees upfront, especially for subscription services. Rentola.at’s failure to do so led to a charge I did not anticipate or agree to in an informed manner.

Condescending and Poor Handling of Refund Requests

Upon noticing the unexpected charge, I immediately canceled the subscription and contacted Rentola.at for a refund, expecting professional service. Unfortunately, not only did they refuse my refund request, but their response was condescending. They repeatedly pointed to their terms and conditions, as though their internal rules somehow superseded EU consumer protection laws, which clearly give consumers the right to withdraw from contracts within a certain period.

It was disappointing to see Rentola.at prioritize their vague terms over established EU law. While terms and conditions are important, they do not override legal rights, and Rentola.at’s refusal to consider my refund request shows a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and lawful practices.

A Business Model Based on Hidden Fees?

As a fellow subscription-based business owner, I find it troubling when companies rely on obscure terms, hidden fees, and condescending responses instead of building trust with their customers. Rentola.at’s dismissive attitude toward my refund request and the lack of transparency in their sign-up process give the impression that their business model may rely on these questionable practices. This is not the foundation of a trustworthy, customer-centric business.

Final Thoughts

My experience with Rentola.at was deeply disappointing. Their handling of my refund request, their lack of transparency, and their belief that their terms take precedence over EU law should be a warning to potential customers. If you choose to engage with them, be prepared for hidden charges and a dismissive attitude toward legitimate concerns. This experience has left me questioning their commitment to transparency and ethical business practices.
