Dr.Ravi T Sharma taught Personal Finance Planning in Financial Planning Mentorship Programme as a course from June 25 to November 2025. His unique idea of Goal Based Planning is a mind-blowing learning to me. All these years we were taught to plan our finances based on the returns and first time someone explaining Goal based planning was an eye opener to me. He had structured the course to cover the entire financial journey, starting from What is Financial Freedom, the need for Personal Finance , the way how to go about by it and to the level how to pass on the Legacy to next generation.
As a mentor and Coach, he commands respect, he explained everything very clearly and transformed his intense passion to all of us, while clarifying all the queries of us. My important learnings from his sessions apart from finance to mention a few are: the importance of having Values, and to be a continuous learner.
I should say he gave me Financial Literacy, a new skill, which was missing in me even though me being a Qualified Chartered Accountant. Beginning conversation with the client.
Setting platform giving comfort to client for disclosing all information in excel file and orally during meeting.
Knowing customer's requirements, studying the information provided by the customer and analysing the income, expenses, savings, investments arrive at cash flows inflows and outflows. Basis customer feedback, share true financial picture of customer. Create a context and given plans only as per customer's requirement e.g., Debit Planning/Insurance Planning/Emergency fund creation, Tax Planning and Retirement Planning. Then go for Goal Based Investment taking note of specific financial goals like children's marriage, travel, retirement corpus etc,
