Quantum Health is an atrocious health…
Quantum Health is an atrocious health insurance company to be an active member of.
Backstory: I just recently became a member through my spouse who is the primary policyholder through his employer. Since the start of my enrollment in May 2026, it has been horrible. I've never had a health insurance provider that doesn't cover your diabetic medications that you have to take in order to maintain your health and longevity. I have been taking the GLP-1 (Mounjaro) which has made great improvements for since being diagnosed of type-2 diabetes 2 1/2 years ago. However, quantum health will fight tooth and nail not to cover other diabetic medications. Since taking Mounjaro, my A1C has improved quite well, but I continuously experience hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) that makes my glucose levels drop dangerously low, therefore I use continuous glucose monitoring sensors to keep an eye out when my blood sugar drops. When my PCP sent in a Rx order to have my glucose sensors filled at my local pharmacy, quantum health denied the claim. When finding out as to why the Rx claim for the sensors was denied, I was advised I had to meet the criteria of using a daily insulin with a specific ingredient to have the sensors covered OR if I experience hypoglycemia why using a diabetic medication. The most pathetic thing about quantum health is that this requirement criteria is for ALL diabetics 1, 2, & 3, and their are no exceptions even with unique circumstances. The issue is that not all diabetic conditions and treatments are all the same with the similar outcome for 1, 2, & 3 diabetic patients, also quantum health denied the appeal request my PCP had sent them. What was even more sinister is that quantum health had the nerve to tell my PCP during the 2nd appeal process that since my A1C is currently under control, my doctor can take me off the medication as if I'm cured of diabetes (WTH) when the truth is quantum health doesn't want to continue covering the Mounjaro which the average retail price for a 60-day supply of (non-insured) is $3,996, so quantum health will do what they can not to cover a service and or medication that was deemed medically necessary for the patient, no matter if you have medical documents that supports your chronic condition. I've already sent my complaint to the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) and is currently seeking legal action against this sham of a health issuance company. If you're currently in the process of looking for health insurance or it's provided by your employer, take my advice and STAY FAR AWAY FROM QUANTUM HEALTH.
