Avoid at all costs!

When you ask to make a claim for your pets euthanasia due to illness and you are informed that you have to pay the remainder of the years premiums (as well as your excess and 20% of the final bill) before they will look at the claim.

Last year my mini schnauzer developed a mobility problem diagnosed as spondylitis of his lower spine. Subsequent to that he has developed further complications. All the way through Purely Pets have been totally supportive and prompt, a joy to deal with during difficult times.

One of the worst companies I have dealt with. If your pet sneezed in the 10 years before it got cancer, they will call that a pre-existing condition and reject your claim!

Purely Pets offer a death benefit equal to the purchase price of your animal. But read the small print. If you don’t have a receipt they’ll give you only £50. After losing my beautiful cat and jumping through all of their hoops, to receive only £50 was an insult. Who honestly thinks of getting a receipt when they buy a kitten. The first agent I chatted with said she didn’t have one and she worked for them. Even Battersea Dogs & Cats don’t provide one!

It was only because I had a second cat insured that I could read their terms of business. When I informed purely pets of max’s death, they removed their terms of business from my online policy. Shocking behaviour. I’m sure this little ploy is carried out to prevent customers from reading their policies. Just as I did, I’m sure most people only want to read their policies when they make a claim.

After complaining that I’d take the insurance of my other cat elsewhere, they informed me that Battersea did provide receipts (they don’t unless you specifically ask) and offered me an additional £30 compensation. When I did cancel the second policy I was charged a £30 cancellation fee. This was “per their terms of business. I’ll never insure another animal with them. I’ll also send back the remaining £50. They don’t deserve business with these practices

I am really sorry to say this but I am astounded that this company have so many stars. I am in my second year with this company. In the first year I submitted a claim for my dog as they had a bad leg. When I originally rang the company for advice I was told that if there had been a previous issue with that leg(even if unconnected) it would be highly unlikely that they would pay out.I felt on the back foot straight the way and get at this point it would likely be a battle to get a pay out. Fortunately there had not been a previous issue with the leg I was submitting the claim for. I submitted the claim and I am still waiting for an answer as to whether they will pay out. You have to log onto their portal to read messages etc. be warned do not set your account up from your iPhone as you will not be able to view the messages properly. As a result of this they archived my original claim unbeknown to me. After numerous occasions of chasing the claim up I was informed that it had been archived and I would have to submit my claim after a lengthy conversation regarding this I was told that you can’t view messages properly via an iPhone. I have since submitted the claim again and I have received numerous text message to say we have received your claim we aim to sort it within 10 days. That was over a month ago. Today I have logged onto a lap top to view my account as iPhones aren’t compatible. It now won’t let me log in as it states my account is already being managed by an MMP account. Unfortunately because I was still going through my claim I renewed my insurance with them. However even if my dogs suffers with their issue for the rest of their life I will never touch this company again. Stay away if you need to claim they will make it as difficult as possible. If you only view documents via an iPhone I definitely wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

Beware of the Small print
Had to put my Barney Bear to sleep on the 20/9/2021, when I tried to claim on his death I was told to read the terms and conditions on Policy, on page ten item 24 it states clearly I was not covered on a dog cover 9 years old. When I renewed my insurance on December 7th 2020 was not aware i was not covered from September 2020 a cost to me of £1354.21. Please Beware of the small print with this Company. I will never insure a dog again to painful.

I loved working with Russell and Natalie for my sons bar mitzvah speech gifts and having them at the party personalising bags, bottles and pop sockets. The quality of the product was excellent, the service was professional and friendly. They were very patient with me trying to choose the items. I can’t wait to use them again.
