I employed polygon leak detection specialists to locate a leak outside the front of my home. They used the gas which the detection specialist even told me wasn’t massively accurate as it can leak out of the hole in the pipe travel through voids in the ground and pop up in a different place to the leak, this is exactly what happened. The specialist marked an area where he told me the leak was and in the coming week I dug it out only to find that not only was there not a single water pipe but obviously also no leak.
After this I completely lost faith in the product and found another solution. Welsh water sent a gang out to fix the leak and this did so within a day, I provided pictures and a report to prove that the leak was 7+ meters away from where they marked and around a completely different side of the house.
Polygon have completely refused to give me any money back as I didn’t allow them to come back to have another go at finding the leak. They seem to not want to listen to me at all and are just happy to take my money for a job they didn’t do.
I am in communication with trading standards. Looking forward to seeing what nonsense they reply to this. I can only imagine all the good reviews here are computer generated.
Please save yourself some trouble and avoid this company.

Now then, Q, what should I do?
A leak in a house is like an intermittent electrical fault on a car - back in the day. When I heard what sounded like a small yet substantial waterfall behind the tiles in my aged kitchen - and then a bowl full of (by coincidence) outside tap connectors brimming with water under the sink - I picked up the red emergency phone to call the insurers. Actually, I filled in a form online. Stuart - locally based - from Polygon Leak Detection turned up promptly a few (nervous) days later - by which time the waterfall and sound fx had ceased - and he began an exhaustive search for the source of the leak using an impressive range of high tech devices with screens of shimmering colours. He also set my mind at rest regarding my own results with a hand held leak detector, which merely beeps, putting the figures into a bigger picture perspective. No leak found within walls, pipe work, sink, boiler etc. I played him the recording I'd made of the location and sound - but but but...? We went outside, and he pointed to the mini rain forest in the guttering, a far more frequent occurrence sinceI traded the cast iron guttering for what appears to be a long length of glorified plant pot, and he highlighted likely sources of ingress in the brickwork. And the lack of a downpipe didn't help as a mid terrace house sandwiched between properties with down pipes. He advised on a suitable location for one and a water butt if the field drain wasn't the best option. No word from the insurers as yet and I have excess on the policy but Stuart took the trouble, with a newly bereaved and worried sick house owner who's been haemorrhaging money, to explain what was happening (and not) and what action I could take while the kitchen remained on the To Do list. Just a thought, but they should cast him as Q if there's ever a flooding storyline in the next Bond film...

great professional service
The engineer was very good. Arrived at a good time and settled down to track and trace works. Kept me informed on progress and found the leak fairly quickly. Was able to expose it and I was able to get a plumber to stop the leak up shortly afterwards. Office explanation pre visit was also very clear. Only reason for 4* instead of 5* was requirement to pay up front and service is not cheap.

Ed came to the Isle of Wight to my flat to find the source of Leak no 10. My freeholders Sovereign Network have paid thousands to repair my property. Yet again damage from a tenant who lives above and soaked his floor and my ceiling. Ed found the problem quickly and lifted the floor to see how much is damaged. Drying team soon.

Ineffective, Money Wasted
Based on my experience I think I know why Polygon requires payment of £891 upfront for its “Track and Trace” service. Would you be happy paying for a technician to visit your home and see him leave without providing a solution?
I called Polygon on the advice of the contractor who had been unsuccessful in identifying and curing a leak in a downstairs room. Their technician sprayed dye which he described as being “like food colouring” onto the slates and then hosed it down. The hope was that coloured water would come through and therefore allow the source to be identified. No dyed water appeared and, on reflection, if it had done it wouldn’t have identified the actual point where the water was coming in because of the wide area to which the dye was applied. I provided the technician with my ladder as his wasn’t long enough to reach the area where he wanted to apply water. Even then he didn’t go up to the top of the flat roof because he considered it to be too high. An internal inspection was undertaken in the ground floor room where the water was dripping from the false ceiling. A downlight was removed from the ceiling, and a photograph was taken through the hole into the void between the original and false ceilings. This did show what appeared to be a crack in the wall which I think the technician decided allowed him to say that he had tracked the leak. In addition a small part of the floor was lifted in the room above where the water was dripping down. Nothing was noted. I did receive a partial refund because, while they say they tracked the leak, they didn’t trace it! I cannot comment on the company’s ability to trace a leak from a pipe because Polygon didn’t undertake this type of work in my case!

very negative
I waited for several weeks before writing my review about this company, because my opinion about them is quite different from the average here, so I didn’t want to be overcome by emotions. My initial comment would have been “incompetent”, but that wouldn’t be fair: anyone can make a mistake. Unfortunately I ended up with a far worse opinion, but I need to tell the full story.
Polygon was introduced to me (from my home insurance company, Lloyds Bank (another company that I absolutely do not recommend: they are the real fraudsters in this story) as an “independent third party company which has worked on many cases of ours” and instructed to trace a leak in my house, which my plumber couldn’t find after days of testing my units and scratching his head. A leak that had produced a great quantity of water, damaging my wooden floors, in the end requiring to lift the the entire floor. Polygon’s mistake, in my case, was that they - thanks to their instruments - found that the area with the highest presence of moisture was located under my Jacuzzi bath, however, instead of performing a thorough investigation and trying all the functions of the unit (which would have lead to another finding), they fired some water to the corners of the shower-bathtub, making it spill over onto the floor and then hurriedly concluded that the seals were damaged. When the insurance consequently denied the claim, citing that “grout and seals aren’t covered”, I explained that the unit had been already tested but, more important, that this unit does not have any “seals”: it was designed and manufactured with a sort of overflow gutter around the whole perimeter to collect and divert back any accidental spillage and that a user could have made it leak constantly only purposely. I also declared that the amount of water that damaged the floor was too great to be justified by some occasional drops while showering: Polygon missed something, surely.
I called Polygon to ask for the full report because they produced - through the insurance company - a document containing a brief 3 second videoclip of water on the floor not showing the path, nor how it was obtained. I discovered that - while I was supposed to pay the excess to them - they weren’t a “third party” at all: I wasn’t their client, the insurance company was. They wouldn’t disclose any document directly to me.
Upset, but still thinking that it was simply a mistake, I asked them - through the insurance - either to produce a more detailed proof or to go again to my house and perform another test, because that couldn’t be the case, I was 100% sure. While I was denied all of them, reading the available document and speaking with my insurer about a previous damage that didn’t result in a claim, I was able to connect all the dots and recall the real cause: it was “under” the jacuzzi, however not a seal, but a pipe that was leaking a couple of months before and it was simply isolated by a previous building company, drying the area (not easily accessible) without assessing the full extent of water that had permeated the concrete.
I spoke to the insurance but, once again, Polygon refused to visit my house a second time to reassess their incomplete analysis… That was the moment I understood that it wasn’t a simple mistake defended with arrogance, but a dishonest plan to satisfy their customer: Ms Justine Marshall, the charlatan advisor of my insurance company.
I had to file a complaint to Lloyds, ask my plumber to visit my house again and to film (not for 3 seconds as Polygon did, but an extensive and continuous 6 minute video) that the shower wasn’t leaking so to clearly explain with images how it works. In the video you can easily see that, to obtain the excess of water to overflow, you must fire the shower spray in the corner and wait until the overflow gutter is full, no different from leaving the shower doors open and wetting the bathroom floor directly.
After the recollection of events even my current plumber, in fact, was able to determine the real cause of damage, finding and filming the disconnected pipes: if anyone presses the “sauna” button, this function doesn’t work, making any honest trace and access inspector think “where is the water which is supposed to create the steam, then?”
The insurance - forced by my complaint - admitted after 2 months that the non existent “seals” of the unit can’t be the issue but Polygon eventually came to collect their equipment left in my house and - without entering the property and assess the state of the leak - raised a “Completion of Drying Works” certificate… with no evidence!
While my house is cold, uninhabitable and I’ve been treated like a post master who stole cash, I’m still waiting, 5 months later, for the repair to be done.
My verdict - regarding Polygon - is ready, instead: dishonest.
