Highly recommended
I highly recommend Hootan Mohsenian if you need an echocardiogram. After struggling to get my medical/surgical team to recognise the urgency of my deteriorating health condition, I decided to get an echo privately and chose Phoenix Ultrasound. I was fortunate to be seen the following day by Hootan.
Hootan listened carefully and was extremely thorough in attempting to understand my complex medical history. He also examined previous echo reports for comparison.
After the echo Hootan explained his recommendations and advised me to go to A&E with the report he sent very soon afterwards. I can't thank him enough and apologise for the delay in completing this review!
As a result of the echo report, I was admitted from A&E under cardiology and my condition stabilised with changes in medication and an iron infusion, now waiting for a catheter ablation. Without the echo and report, I may still be waiting for my cardiology appointment in May, my heart continuing to deteriorate.

Quick service, nice staff

Excellent
Previously I have waited 8 weeks for this scan on the nhs. At phoenix I was seen within a few days. The whole process was stress free, the welcome warm and friendly and the radiographer was thorough and professional. Immediate feedback meant that I was reassured. I would highly recommend this as an alternative to the long wait for diagnostics on the nhs. I have been sent the scans and a report and will forward it to my GP prior to making an appointment to discuss.

Don't waste your money like I did
I don't usually like to write negative reviews because I try to get things resolved first. But they've not replied to any of my emails and I don't feel like I should have to keep calling them. The scan was done quickly but the lady didn't have a very friendly demeanour but I just put it down to maybe a cultural difference. During the scan I asked her to confirm that the lump wasn't a lipoma and she said it wasn't and that it was just fat that can be removed with liposuction. I also had my thyroid scanned but the neck lump was something I was more concerned with.
My report never mentioned the neck lump so I contacted them by email, and then phone call when they didn't answer my email, to ask for clarification on the lump. The woman on the phone struggled to understand what I was requesting.
I then received an email from the woman who performed the scan apologising but telling me something completely different to what she said during the scan. That the neck lump was a lax platysma muscle, which if true would mean more invasive and expensive surgery. I've emailed to question this but have had no response. Also the email report was written using ChatGPT which to me makes it seem untrustworthy as it's not coming from her voice directly. I really regret spending nearly £200 on the scan as I'm more confused that ever.

Following your concerns, we conducted a detailed review of your case, including the information provided at the time of booking, the examination performed, the ultrasound images and report, and the subsequent communications.
The examination booked was a Neck and Thyroid Ultrasound. During the assessment, the thyroid and relevant surrounding neck structures were examined, including the area of concern indicated at the appointment. Importantly, **no sonographic evidence of a lipoma or other discrete mass was identified** in the area assessed.
We appreciate that descriptions given during a scan can sometimes be interpreted differently from the terminology subsequently used in clinical correspondence. We apologise if any communication following the examination caused additional confusion rather than providing reassurance.
Regarding the concern about the preparation of clinical correspondence, digital tools may be used to assist with language, formatting and clarity. However, **clinical findings, diagnoses and reports are based on the examination and professional judgement of the clinician responsible for the scan and are reviewed and approved by the clinician before being issued.**
We also take your comments regarding communication seriously. Patients should receive clear and timely responses to clinical queries, and we are reviewing this aspect of your experience internally.
Following our review, we remain satisfied that the ultrasound examination was performed appropriately within the scope of the service booked and that no lipoma or discrete sonographic mass was demonstrated. Where a patient continues to feel a lump despite no corresponding abnormality being identified on ultrasound, further clinical assessment and, where appropriate, additional imaging may be recommended.
We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback.

Disappointing.
Happy I got my issue checked out but not particularly happy with the service. The lady who did my ultrasound basically said I shouldn’t be in pain after telling me the exact issue I suspected, which is known to send people rushing to A&E due to the pain. She made me feel silly and had no bedside manner. It was really disappointing paying for a private service and leaving feeling almost like she didn’t believe how much pain I’ve been in.
Not to mention I was told I’d have my report in 24 hours and I had to chase to get it and when I chased I was told “our machine is broken you’ll have to wait 2 more days.” Then I complained and received the report by email within 30 minutes? So… the machine wasn’t broken then?
I just found it to be fairly unprofessional for a private clinic. Private or not I’d expect more but definitely when paying £200 for a ten minute appointment!
They got me in quick, that’s the only positive for me.

You were absolutely right to expect clear communication and timely delivery, and it’s not acceptable that you had to chase this — especially after being given conflicting information. We are reviewing this internally to understand exactly what happened and to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
