Beware the 90 day return!

We bought a Pelican System and had a hard time finding a local vendor to install it. Once we finally got someone out here, they noticed the flow rate of the system was below the requirements of the fire suppression system. Even though our equipment hadn't even been taken out of the boxes, Pelican wouldn't offer a refund. We would have appreciated a return with a restocking fee or anything but they wouldn't budge. Their answer was to buy a second system and run it in parallel. One star rating for terrible customer service, and since I can't use the product, I don't even know how well it works. If you make the mistake we made and go with this company, make absolutely certain you have an installer lined up in advance.

Updated review to address Pelican's response:
As Pelican noted in the response to my review, they tried to sell us more equipment in order to meet the GPM restriction and run two systems in parallel. However, our installer wouldn't take on that liability in case one system had an issue at a time when the sprinklers needed full flow. In addition, he was the only local contractor (out of 8 that we tried) who actually indicated he could/would install the original system until running into the sprinkler flow problem. This is what caused the 6 month delay in finally getting someone out here to install it.

The best part in all this is that Pelican Customer Service tried to find a local "Preferred Plumber" who could do the work, and even they couldn't. I live in an area with ~200k population, and the nearest "Preferred Plumber" they could find to do an install was an hour and a half away. It was clearly implied (by Pelican Customer Service management) that I could look for an unlicensed plumber to do the work "because it's so easy to install, there's just 6 valves to connect".

No chance at a refund because I took too long; end of story. Read the replies to these reviews from the company; it's the customer's fault time and time again. So I stand by my original review. Beware the 90 day return window with this company because they are unwavering about this "Policy" and will not provide you a realistic solution (unless you consider buying more equipment or using an unlicensed plumber a realistic solution.)

We are sorry to hear that the fire suppression system required a higher flow rate then the system you purchased could handle. We noticed that you purchased your system online. Our water treatment experts on the phone can help size you the correct system for your needs. When you recently called they tried to offer you a solution that would resolve the flow problem without you having to spend a higher amount of money on a custom high flow system.

We do have a 90 day return policy which is stated at checkout when you purchase. Because you purchased a disinfection system as well, we cannot take units back when it has been over 6 months since purchase.

We would be happy to work with you on the additional equipment you need to get the flow rate up to spec for your fire suppression system. We will have someone from our team reach out to you to discuss.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service. We were oversold a system that was too big for our house. 2 fresh, new tanks never used and Pelican will not even exchange them. The salesman wouldn't even discuss it just passed us to customer service who passed us to someone else to tried to sell us something more. We were told this company has tons of turn over and we can understand why. Bad information to get a higher commission is NOT good service. What would be good is to have Pelican do the RIGHT thing so we would be writing an awesome review. Think twice and do your homework. You cannot rely on their salesman to sell you anything you can use. HORRIBLE.

Stay away from Pelican!

I ordered a salt-free water softener from Pelican and was looking forward to no more salt bags! It was $1,600 on special. Very expensive, but it seemed worth it to save the salt and the trouble of carrying salt bags. It also seemed more environmentally friendly. What I got was a big tin can with a card on top explaining “what to expect”. I’ll paraphrase it - hard water problems. I don’t know what this thing does, but it doesn’t soften water. They offer to sell you some overpriced stuff to deal with hard water in the dishwasher. Vinegar would be a lot cheaper. They also offer some tips on dealing with hard water in your shower etc. None of this is worth $1,600. Fortunately there is a 90 day money back. I’m still stuck with a bill for $100 to ship the thing to them. An expensive lesson in buyer beware. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Pelican!

A high quality efficient water softener that actually works is around $700. Still stuck with salt bags but at least it works as advertised.

Water spotting (when you let water dry on a surface) will remain and we provide tips for how to deal with spotting which is not hard water scale. It sounds like you did not install our system or give it a chance. We would like to help address your concerns but can not locate you in our system indicating that you purchased a Pelican system. We would be happy to address any concerns you have. As stated you do have a 90 day money back guarantee and you can ship it back to us for a full refund if you changed your mind or were unhappy with the performance of the system. Love our Pelican combo

Love our Pelican combo. We have had our Pelican combo for about 2 years. Love the taste of the water. Previously we had to change our water heater elements every year due to all the build up on them but since installing the salt free softener, they continue to work without issue.

Disappointed with System and Service

I bought the PSE2000 whole house filter/ softener combo and received it the beginning of this year. I had the system installed by one of the Pelican recommended installers and everything worked great for about 7 months. Not long ago I started noticing the water turning gray in my tubs and toilets. Carbon from the filter is now consistently flowing into my water pipes unless I bypass the system. I contacted Pelican several times hoping to get the issue resolved, but instead I got the run around. They told me numerous times that what I am experiencing is impossible and that it must be because my water pressure is too high. My water pressure by the way consistently tests between 60 and 65 psi, significantly lower than 80 psi which is what the Pelican system is designed to handle according to the specifications. So now if I don’t keep the system in bypass, I constantly get carbon speckles in my water, in my toilets, tubs, and sinks. As soon as I bypass the system the carbon stops shortly thereafter. Perhaps my experience is somewhat unique, but I paid a lot of money for a system that I now cannot use after only 7 months. It would be great if Pelican would stop giving me the run around and stand behind their product by providing a system or solution that actually works as advertised or refund my money. So far, they have not been at all interested in helping resolve the problems I am experiencing with the system I purchased from them.

Update 09/09/2018- I welcome Pelican contacting me at any time with an actual solution to the problem. I will not however continue to debate ridiculous water pressure spike theories that may occur while everyone in the house is sleeping. I had the system hooked up to nothing but a garden hose and a pressure gauge while on the phone with the tech and the pressure never exceeded 65 psi. Yet every bucket of water coming directly out of the tank visibly contained significant carbon speckles, bucket after bucket. The pressure is not the issue, so as I stressed earlier Pelican needs to bring forward a real solution to the problem and stop with the wild middle of the night water pressure spiking conspiracy theories. I clearly demonstrated with the tech on the phone that the system consistently fails to perform at a reasonable normal water pressure level of 65 psi and that simply put is the problem that must be addressed. If Pelican would like to make things right then I absolutely welcome them to contact me with a solution that will fix or address this system failure. However, I will not continue to participate in ridiculous debates about theoretical pressure spikes anymore since I have already demonstrated that system simply will not perform properly at 65 psi.

9/23/18- I did receive a replacement tank from Pelican this week. Hopefully this will take care of the problem. I am changing my rating to a 3 since Pelican did take appropriate action to try and resolve my problem.

Total waste of money and very shady

We were moving to Texas and the home we bought had a well with VERY hard water and sulfur odor issues. Professional well testing was done along with a water analysis. No bacteria - very clean water, but very hard water. I have had a liver transplant and am always aware of food and water safety being a retired RN. We called and explained our challenges and asked for a their professional opinion on what system would solve our concerns. We ended up spending $2600+ on a system and another $1500 for installation by their recommended installer. It fixed the sulfur odor, I'll give it that. The system looks like a drunk monkey installed it, I have included a photo to show how bad the installation looks. None of the lines are level, there is NO shutoff valve so we can't even bypass the system. It is impossible to run 2 faucets at once or the flow drops to a slow trickle - thank goodness it is only my husband and I. I should also mention that the home inspection reveled that the water pressure was on the high side prior to this system being installed. I called today to see if something could be done. The service person had a very kinda "so what" attitude. No solution or suggestions offered, just "to bad".

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear the installer you hired did not do the job in a satisfactory way. Since you hired and paid that installer separate from Pelican Water, we recommend you contact them about the quality of their install.

Regarding your claim of our system being a total waste of money and very shady; We reviewed your live chat transcript with our agents and you never once mentioned you were concerned with or had hard water. Your only concern was the following: "My husband and I bought a home inTexas that has well water. I have had a liver transplant and I am concerned about the water quality. We had it tested, and there is no bacteria. There is however a nasty sulphuric smell. What can you recommend for us?"

We sold you the system that would resolve the issues you told us about which was the sulfur and bacteria. As you noted in your feedback the system has resolved those water quality issues. The conversation you had with technical support today explained that you would have to add a softener to deal with hard water, so a suggestion and solution was offered.

We would be happy to send you a copy of that live chat transcript for you to review the conversation you had with our sales rep.

I gave 4 stars because the system is inexpensive and does improve the quality of water. However, the quality is not as good as the system my brother purchased which was a lot more expensive. I have no regrets with this purchase.

You were issued a refund on your system on Feb 27th back to the original form of payment. It does take up to 10 business days for your credit card company to reflect the credit. However, we did issue a refund for you even though you were outside the 90 day return period for your system.

I installed the Iron and Whole House…

I installed the Iron and Whole House Carbon Filter myself, and had a few questions, and when I called Pelican Support was great.
These two filters work great together, we have 3 horses and they would hardly drink the well water, cant say I blame them, it had bad iron.
We had to haul water until I completed installation.
These Filters work great !

Design flaw

Sleeve not attached to filter. When I took it out of the box it fell on the floor.
It leaks like crazy. I called for replacement. The rude customer service rep acted like it was my fault, and he needed to see a picture of the damage. It's hairline crack that won't show up in a photo.
Had to buy a new shower head from BB&B

Not performing as it should

Great experience

Great experience! Mr. Barker was very helpful and knew the product very well. He assured me that doing the installation myself was very simple. He was right. I did the complete installation and had no difficulties. The water is wonderful and I am happy I made the decision to go with Pelican. I have had other systems and I shopped extensively for the new system on my new home and Pelican really met our needs.

good but not perfect

The system was easy enough for me to install as I have experience in plumbing. A novis should get professional help. 4 stars as the system only reduces to 48ppm as per my TDS meter thats before the 4&5th filter and adds 59ppm after filer for total output of 107ppm. We are jointly using this Pelican Pro system as drinking and for a Saltwater aquarium and split the output line before stage 4&5 for the "pure" RO, that we mix with ocean salt mix for our aquarium. Was in belief that a RO system removes more than 48ppm. Sparklets water comes in 5 gal bottles to our door at 25ppm. Our Glendale AZ public water at faucet is 841ppm
