If I could give this company a 0 I would. Poor quality goods, poor installation workmanship right from the start. The cupboard doors and drawers haven’t been fitted properly from first installation, worktops supplied chipped, glass panels cracked in less than 6 months post installation, wood panels chipping and paint peeling. Despite complaining about the issues right from the start, they come for a discussion, send a completion bill and blame everyone else. Apparently the company believes we should pay the completion invoice before they will come out to complete the kitchen installation properly and believe that they’ve taken the “right view” and that’s definately because they know the the cost of doing the job properly will be higher than the completion bill. Don’t make the same mistake, we have to find another kitchen supplier to refit the kitchen or replace it entirely. I do not recommend.

Worst customer service I have ever encountered! I purchased the frogs and snails vase as a gift. It is barely glazed, and all the frogs have holes in them. It looks nothing like the photos. I wrote to them on May 23, and a week later, got an email that said they were forwarding my complaint to the manufacturer. I never heard from them again. The photos of the vase are gorgeous, and I am heartbroken that I can’t give it to her for her new house.

For returns, you have to foot the bill (fine I accept that) but then they also reduce the shipping cost to you from your return. I'll never order from here again.

Avoid this company! Horrible experience. Customer service is terrible. I’m having a problem with an order that would be a super simple, very inexpensive fix and they refused to help, despite it being their fault. They wouldn’t know this though because they never returned my calls or even asked what the problem was. Terrible customer service. They lost a customer over something they could’ve solved with little to no effort or cost. Paynes Grey carries the same items as countless other online stores— choose to purchase from a different one!

This has been a 6-week ordeal—still unresolved—involving a damaged item, a written resolution that was later reversed, and an ongoing refusal by Paynes Gray to take responsibility.

My initial order was cancelled without explanation and only addressed as a “pricing error” after I inquired.

I placed a second order—paying double—which arrived damaged and was reported with evidence. In response, Paynes Gray provided a written resolution—confirmed twice—stating that I could keep the damaged item and receive a full refund.

Relying on that agreement, I discarded the original oversized crated packaging and scheduled installation. Days later, they reversed their position, stating that I was required to return the item to receive the refund.

What followed has been weeks of delays, non-responsiveness, and shifting responsibility. Attempts to resolve this directly were unsuccessful. Requests for proper packaging and pickup for this extraordinarily large, fragile item went unanswered, while they represented to the bank that it could be returned “in any packaging.” I ultimately had to source materials, build packaging myself, and arrange return shipment at significant time, expense, and effort.

Even after the item was returned and confirmed delivered, the refund remains outstanding, and they are not responding to PayPal.

This was not a standard return situation—it was a breakdown in accountability. A written agreement was provided, relied upon, and then disregarded, creating unnecessary cost, time, and frustration.

Buyers should proceed with extreme caution. Based on my experience, do not rely on representations made, and be prepared for significant difficulty if any issue arises.

The second piece of furniture (out of 3) that I ordered from Paynes Gray is a beautiful swivel sliding chair from Jonathan Adler. I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase. The price was unbeatable and it arrived just as promised and in pristine condition. The customer service is truly exemplary and the white glove delivery (which was included in the price) was fast and professional. I highly recommend Paynes Gray for your furniture needs. I rate them a 10 out of 10.

I had read a few reviews after placing my order. I have to say Paynes Gray was awesome! Answered every question & shipment of chairs came with no problems & on time! I would order from them again!

Beware! They don’t allow returns. From their site:
We do NOT allow returns on furniture, lighting, mirrors, wallpaper, wall art, Bella Notte, One for Victory, Redford House, Square Feathers, Spicher & Co, Noir, rugs over 8’ x 10’, multiples of 4 or more of the same item

Not the best company to purchase from. Ordered 4 Christmas items mid Nov. Two arrived ~1 week later on time. One was arrived broken (packaged poorly). E-mailed damage info with photos to Paynes Gray. They responded quickly, but indicated up to 2 weeks to resolve; then add another week+ to ship if even still had in stock by them. Way too long to resolve in general plus this was for Xmas items that were selling out. 3rd item shipped additional week later. 4th item never shipped (don't think they ever had it in stock). Entire time their website indicated all items had been delivered in the initial shipment. Luckily was able to find the broken and missing items another site to arrive before Xmas/before sold out. Best to consider elsewhere.

The quality of the items I ordered were poor and not accurately reflected in their online photos. To return them, they wanted me to pay return shipping (fine), PLUS $94 in the "shipping fees" they supposedly paid to ship the items to me. Most of the items were very small so that fee was in no way honest. I ended up throwing everything in the garbage because the items were such poor quality I couldn't give them away. This store is terrible! You can get better products from Chinese stores on Amazon for a small fraction of the cost.

Couldn't be more disappointed. Ordered a custom dining table in January. Delivered in April and was damaged. Reported as requested on website, and was promised a response within 2 weeks. No one ever got back to me despite checking back at the 2 week point. Random call from a driver insisting on delivering a new table the next day while we were out of town. Customer service shows this as delivered and I still do not have the table.

Ordered a lamp which came slightly damaged because of the packaging. I wrote the company to notify them that the lighting company had not done a particularly good job , but that we had managed to repair the shade ourselves. We did not want any reimbursement. What we got was a total refund for the lamp and a new shade. Customer service here is outstanding!! I haven’t experienced this kind of service in a very long time.
