They sent the wrong jacket. After 2 weeks of emails backwards and forwards offering conflicting advise on store credit to rectify their mistake and avoid hassle of returns at my expense it seems the only option they really offer was to return item. So they don’t really want to offer a gesture to make right their mistake! Customer service was confusing at every email. Poor experience for first time customer

I purchased this cardigan because Ottway promotes itself as an ethical, considered and quality-focused clothing brand, and those values were important to me when deciding where to spend my money.

Unfortunately, the cardigan arrived with a permanent garment label stating 100% polyester, despite the cardigan being advertised on the website as 100% cotton. Understandably, this made me question the accuracy of the product information and I no longer felt comfortable keeping the cardigan.

What has been particularly disappointing, however, has been the handling of the return and refund. Rather than simply providing a refund, I was repeatedly offered store credit. After considerable back and forth, Ottway agreed to reimburse my return postage, but continued to insist on store credit.
I am still waiting for my refund and, at the time of writing this review, I have not received it.

The original mistake was disappointing, but the lengthy and difficult process of trying to resolve it has been even more disappointing. I would therefore think carefully before purchasing from Ottway again.

I was really disappointed by this experience.

First of all, the products look amazing and the quality is excellent. I was genuinely excited to keep buying from this store in the future.

Unfortunately, the pants didn’t fit, even though I carefully checked the size guide before ordering. The fact that the store uses S, M and L sizing instead of traditional waist sizes (34, 36, 38, etc.) already makes choosing the right fit more difficult, and even following the measurements provided wasn’t enough to get the correct size.

The pants were never worn and were returned in the exact same condition, but my return was refused.

I understand that this may be legal in Australia, but good customer service should be about more than just following the law. Policies like this make customers take all the risk when shopping online.

It’s especially disappointing because I’d much rather support smaller businesses that produce quality products with a personal touch than buy from big brands. But experiences like this are exactly what push customers back to those larger companies, where returns and exchanges are usually much easier.

It’s a real shame. I was looking forward to becoming a repeat customer, but not anymore. Instead, I ended up wasting $120 on a pair of pants I can’t wear. I’ve already donated them to Vinnies—hopefully someone else can make good use of them.
