What started off as a positive experience quickly turned into a horrible one.
If I could give no stars I would.
Our Belgian Malinois was diagnosed with two torn CCLs. My stepdaughter, who is a veterinarian, recommended Ortho Dog.
Although I was shocked at the price and understood that normally they don't take returns, my husband and I went for two of the braces.
We are retired and on a fixed income so this was definitely a major splurge. Regardless of if the brace worked or not I think the price is ridiculously high.
We measured and worked with our dog and it was nearly impossible to put this thing on. My veterinarian stepdaughter came to help and it took three of us to get it on with our girl squealing in pain all the way.

* We did send a photo of our dog when we ordered.
Karen did keep asking for photos of the brace on Audrey and I repeatedly told her by the time three of us did get it on her she was squealing in pain; therefore, there was no way I could take photos.

My stepdaughter examined Audrey again and determined that our dog's back anatomy is just not conducive to this type of brace.
After explaining - several times - all of the above to Karen, she stood firm in her no refund policy.
Makes absolutely no sense to me because these are not custom made for an individual dog - they make various different sizes.
Also, if they will exchange something that has been tried on, then there is absolutely no reason why they should not accept a return for a refund. It's simply not a brace that we can use.
My veterinarian stepdaughter will absolutely no longer recommend this company.
We are apparently out well over $400. So I guess truly buyer beware.

I ordered the hip brace for my girl , and it helps her not limping and keep running !I am from Canada and had an incredible service before AND after the sale . Karen was translating in french for me 😉 I can't recommand enough this product from this reliable company .

I contracted the company and asked them to make an adjustment with their Hock Holder. The original design is made with the seam on the inside of the brace, creating some friction/sores on my dog's leg. Without hesitation, they changed the design, seam on the outside, and my dog is very happy! Wonderful, caring company!

From the first contact with Ortho Dog I could tell that they actually cared that my dog had exactly what he needed instead of trying to over sell me on additional items. Karen provided excellent customer service all the way throughout and after my purchase. The quality of the items I ordered were a 10/10. Strong enough to protect my dogs knee but flexible enough so he could lay down comfortably. I can't say enough positive things about Ortho Dog. Thank you for excellent products, customer service, and also for the way you operate with so much compassion. You guys are Awesome.

First. I absolutely love the customer service. This isn’t just a company, they truly are here to help your dog! I can not express how much I love the personalized approach! Our Bernese Mountain dog blew out her knee several months ago. We were guided to surgery as an option from the vet. But she is 9 and outcomes for this surgery didn’t look great. Plus the cost and risk for her other knee were weighing on us. We ordered this brace as a lifeline and it truly was. Stella was not able to get up on her own, only able to use bathroom with minimal standing and falling frequently. The brace was easy to use and you can call for help with sizing! We used the brace as instructed and In just 8 weeks our girl is brace free and taking short walks. She is so happy and moving freely in the yard and house. It’s beyond amazing and we are so grateful to this company! A blessing!

They have excellent customer service. But.. Deffently not made well enough to be worth 350 bucks. If your dog likes to get silly, rolling around on its back.. expect the leg peices to easily come off. Everytime my girl rolls around they come off. Cause the velcro gets stuck on the carpet or blankets and it pulls the velcro apart. And the flimsy plastic clips that are supposed to hold the straps in place for adjustment, dont stay clipped down. They easily flop back up, allowing the straps to eventually loosen and make it so the leg peices can come off. So I can't leave this on her when im at work. I have to be around when she has it on. Otherwise she would probably end up caught up in something and rip it apart when trying to get free. This is very cheaply made. It should have been made with buckle straps. Something more secure so the dog can't so easily get out of it. And there are no refunds! Its a good idea. Just needs to be made better if they are gonna charge so much money.

You all were so gracious and professional with providing me the perfect brace and answering my questions!
My dog, Sizzle partially tore her ACL , Aug 2023 and due to cost of surgery, I monitored her play before it finally developed into a complete tear a year later in Oct 2024.
I decided to read up on braces and decided on your Ortho Dog Brace and ordered in October.
My dog does not wear it inside, only if she has other dog companions, but wears it outside ALWAYS. I keep her on lead and just recently left her off lead for a few minutes, while monitoring.
I believe her injury has scarred tissue over some as she now even runs, again with me monitoring.
I can not say “thank you” enough for providing this brace, as I don’t believe we would be this far in partial healing, and without stressing the other leg.

I cannot say enough things about this company and their product. The customer service is absolutely outstanding. They’re always there to answer your questions walk you through the process and then follow up with you after you received your product to making sure that it’s fitted and sized properly. This is an absolutely outstanding company and the brace is helping my dog with his torn ACL immensely. I cannot say enough kind things About the company and especially Karen in customer support.

Our seven year old wirehaired pointing griffon hurt his knee this winter. After much research we purchased a Cruciate Care Knee Brace - Medium Wide.
At first we had problems with the brace not staying in place even though we had all the straps right. Then we realized our big shaggy beast was getting his hair lodged in the brace disrupting the fit when he laid down or rolled in the snow.
So we trimmed the fur on his leg quite a bit. Now when he lays down or sits then stands back up the brace goes into the proper position to support his knee.
This brace now holds his knee in the proper position so he can put weight on that foot flat on the ground.
Lesson is don't blame the brace if the fur is getting in the way. We are the owners and should be able to figure some things out.
The brace is well designed, well manufactured and easy enough to use. We have had contact with Karen who has been very helpful.
Our vet did say to try a brace to go with rest and dietary supplements but did not recommend a company for the brace. We will be bringing our dog to the vet so the vet can examine the brace and tell others about it.
As far as people complaining about no returns, that is stated up front on the web page.

Hi Karen, Just wanted to give you an update on Maizie's progress. It has been eight weeks since she started using the Ortho Dog Brace. When we first started the joint below the knee was cocked at probably a 35 degree angle. It now has straightened to the same as the left leg. Now, with or without the brace she walks normal without any limp. She is now a lot more frisky and we have to really be controling because she wants to run as before. Her progress has been remarkable. Unfortunately most people don't do any research and follow the Vets advice to do surgery when your brace system is so much better for the dog and so much easier on the owner. We plan to continue to using the brace both indoors and outdoors through the 13 weeks. However ,after the 13 weeks we will continue to use it outdoors for an additional 4 weeks. She loves to run and jump and we think the brace will slow her down a bit. Thanks again for all your help and we welcome any advice ! Richard

Excellent customer service although we have struggled with the fit of the brace. In my opinion, it is difficult to put on a dog with an injury due to all the Velcro and fasteners. I had hoped to help my dog walk better with an injured knee but it seems to be hindering more than it is helping. However, Ortho dog has reached out to offer assistance and we will continue to try to make the brace work since it was an expensive purchase.

I wish I would have read the reviews before wasting $375 on this brace, however, the vet recommended. It was difficult to get just the right adjustment and still ended up being too tight for my dog. She hated it and I hated seeing her in more discomfort because of it. After months of this I took her to another vet who prescribed Librela. This monthly shot for 8 months was a godsend. I cannot recommend the brace, but I do recommend Librela.

Wasted $325. I had such high hopes for this brace, but unfortunately it does not work for my dog. It goes crooked on her and once she sits down, the brace doesnt resume its place. It has to be so tight to stay put that it puts major pressure on her lower back. I am really unhappy that returns are not accepted and I see why. What a complete waste of money.

My McNab collie was such a fast runner she tore her ACL going full out. After taking her to the Vet he suggested surgery. Our girl, being a rescue baby, suffers from many anxieties, so we decided that experience would not be an option. I couldn't put her through more trauma.
Fortunately, I watched a positive Youtube video about Ortho Dog. Following their website instructions, I placed my order.The customer care I received from that moment on was the best I have ever received from any vendor, online or in person. I feel that they would still be there for me anytime going forward.
I was even contacted to confirm her measurements, which I did not get correct. Sarah worked with me so the fit was great. Instruction for me to attain success was unlimited. It did take me a few trial and errors to get everything where it needed to be to give Bree the stability she needed. Sarah worked with me every step of the way. It was my learning curve, not the brace.
Best decision ever to be a Ortho Dog client - forever grateful.

I've had it for about 7 months and not once have I ever gotten it to stay on. It's stiff and uncomfortable for the dog and ALWAYS comes off. Total absolute and complete waste of money.

Be very sure you are able to waste a lot of money when it doesn’t fit properly. My dog is tall and thin (I wish I had seen some reviews here before buying) and even after watching all the videos multiple times, reading all the instructions over and over and sending pictures and emailing back and forth (customer service does try) I couldn’t get the brace to stop sliding down past his knee when my dog sat. I even took the brace to my vet - the technician had no luck, and the vet said the brace would work only for a limited range of dogs depending on body size and leg length. I had high hopes and gambled - and LOST. Be very, very sure before you take the chance.

At the time I purchased the brace I had serious fitting concerns, Abby was kind enough to walk me through and personally checked my measurements. After receiving the CCL brace for our Bogart I sent pics and Sarah replied promptly with fitting corrections that used clear and concise verbal instructions along with directional arrows on the picture. Bogart has varying degrees of happiness with his brace, and I was VERY much on the fence about whether it was helping or hurting... but here we are a week later and he is able to walk and use his leg. I am highly optimistic that he will continue improving. He's a boy and surgery is cost prohibitive and I think it would be absolute misery to place crate limitations on big active boy for 8-12 weeks. Thank you Ortho-Dog for providing help & natural relief! ps- tiny adjustments are needed to the brace throughout the day, but that's no different than any human brace I've ever worn.

Absolutely horrible fit. I have a thin greyhound mix. I did measurements like the video said, they even called to verify measurements before shipping, I sent photos. Up till then I got great customer service. But when the product got her, I watched their videos and others on YouTube, no way will this brace stay on my dogs leg. The minute she lays down it slides below the knee. I have reached out to customer service with 4 emails including photos and video and the won’t respond back. Horrible waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 2020, my then 11-year-old dog was diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament. I was hesitant to put my not-so-spring-chickeny pupper through major surgery. This brace was highly recommended by vet tech friend and seemed worth a try.

The dog had unusual proportions, but a tailor made the necessary alterations for less than $15.

The Cruciate Care Knee Brace gave my aging but still-wanting-to-be-active dog more than two years of much improved mobility and quality of life. Thank you for this wonderful product and the joy it made possible for my dog.
