I commenced this course with all good intentions, then life happened. I need to say how very supportive and understanding everyone has been. I need to say a massive THANK-YOU to Mel (my trainer and assessor) for all the guidance, encouragement and support she gave me I don't think I would have made it without everything she did for me. Thanks again :)

Improving - make sure you understand what you’re committing to is my advice. I started with OC almost 2 years ago, optimistic about how much I would achieve. I have just completed a Certificated IV in Leisure & Health. The course itself was challenging, errors and broken links all over the place which made it harder to complete. I found the structure of unlocking modules one at a time to be personally hard to navigate for my priorities around work and life as sometimes things would be on hold until I could gather a few people to do group work. Independent learning is very different from face-to-face where you have peers and plenty of time with a tutor. I found this format more challenging without support. However, towards the end of my course I had an Assessor change and a lady named Mel took on the course. She was understanding, honest and genuinely helpful. I’d give her 5 stars as she had to address many issues, but welcomed feedback and actioned it quickly. With more people in OC like Mel, I believe things will get better. The course needs to be revised and it looks to be the case that they are taking that seriously and intending to improve. So hopefully for the next generations of students it will be easier to navigate. Thank you.

- No pathway for complaints, any issues circle back to the tutors
- 3 day policy to correspond is drawn out to the max often being taken advantage of by asking clarification questions which starts another 3 days
- Question the technical expertise of the tutors
- Exceedingly long times for marking of work, we are talking over a month
- Old course content, lots of links to random webpages that are out of date. Appears like AI wrote the course years ago. Many requests to have this rectified went nowhere
- Great course if you are wanting to get the piece of paper with a smaller price tag, work at your own pace, it is accredited so the crux of what you need to qualify is part of the work
- Lacks technical resourcing support for drawings and software
- No interaction with other students, no real attempt to make a community
- The online interface is a bit clunky ie you have to scroll in order of pages rather than jump between but could be worse

The course was very simple with support being offered throughout it all. Highly recommend

I recently completed my Certificate III in School-Based Education Support through Open Colleges, and I am very grateful for the support and guidance I received throughout my course.
Whenever I had questions or needed clarification, the team was helpful and responsive. I would especially like to thank my trainer and assessor, Ms Erika Russell, for her encouragement, support and guidance throughout my studies. She was always approachable, considerate and understanding, which made my learning experience very positive.
I was also very happy with the online learning experience. The flexibility and self-paced format made it convenient and hassle-free to balance my studies with other commitments.

I had a great learning experience completing my Certificate III in Horticulture with Open Colleges. The assessors were very helpful and easy to reach whenever I needed assistance or had questions, which made the course much easier to complete. I would especially like to thank Jaclyn Knight for her support, guidance and encouragement throughout my studies. Overall, it was a very positive educational experience, and I am grateful to the Open Colleges team for their support.

I completed my Certificate III in Business (Information & Records Management) with Open Colleges and I had a really positive experience. The course was well organised and easy to follow online, which made it flexible to study at my own pace. My trainers was amazing very supportive, knowledgeable and quick to help whenever I needed it. I learned so much and feel confident to use my new skills in the future. I would highly recommend Open Colleges to anyone wanting to study business.

Mel was very professional and efficient, but at the same time friendly and made me feel comfortable to ask questions. Would definately work with Mel again as an assessor

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
THEY PROMISE REFUNDS IF YOU DECIDE TO PULL OUT WITHIN A CERTAIN TIMEFRAME, WHICH WAS MY DAUGHTERS DECISION AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, AND SINCE THEN THEY HAVE TOLD LIE AFTER LIE AND BEEN SO OBSTRUCTIVE IN PROVIDING A REFUND. THEY GIVE DIFFERENT ANSWERS, AND INSTRUCTIONS EACH TIME WE CALL. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A REFUND AFTER 4MTHS, AFTER BEING TOLD INITIALLY THE REFUND WOULD BE SENT AFTER 30 DAYS.
AT BEST THEY ARE TOTALLY INCOMPETENT, AT WORSE THEY ARE COMPLETE SCAMMERS, DO NOT ENROL WITH THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

They have being supportive and understanding with me during a hard time. It is appreciated and I am greatful

Studying with open colleges has been a massive regret for me and I wish I had done my due diligence and researched online and seen all the terrible reviews and warnings before I paid and spent three months studying full time with them. Their content is awful, full of errors, mistakes, links that are outdated, don't work, content that is mismatched to the course or the module, your head spins just trying to focus on what's going on. It's impossible to get support, they take too long to mark assignments. They took 3 weeks to mark my final module before I could start workplacement and then I spent 2 months trying to organise a work placement with them and failed so organised my own and then wouldnt approve it so I couldn't proceed. I've given up, this wasting my time and money and effecting my mental health. Please do not study with them, especially if the course requires a workplacement. They are difficult to deal with and no one in the disability sector wants to take students from open colleges, they have a terrible rep with good reason.

Studying with Open Colleges has been both a flexible and challenging experience, especially for someone balancing work, placement and personal commitments.
However, the overall experience was positive. The ability to email, call and request clarification from my trainer, made the experience feel supported even though the study was online. One thing that stood out the most was my trainer. Her guidance and encouragement really made me feel supported throughout this journey and made studying through Open Colleges an achievable option.

Overall a great experience in terms of the content and doing it self paced. Oni was amazing assessor without him I wouldn’t have graduated. Oni was professional, supportive, easy to communicate with and appreciate his efforts along the last half of the course. One suggestion when you come up to getting and finding a workplacement this should have been provided to me instead I had to find this myself. I was unsuccessful and then paid to use the recommended service of Skiltrak which were terrible, so providing a quicker workplacement I would have graduated 9 months ago, been able to be in paid employment would have helped financially, this was the biggest hurdle to overcome and suggest that change.

My experience throughout this course was very positive. The trainers and student support team demonstrated professionalism, empathy and a genuine understanding of my circumstances as an agency care worker moving between contracts. Although obtaining workplace guidance could sometimes be challenging, I received prompt and practical advice. I was also grateful for the flexibility to work through the course at my own pace.

I feel completely let down by Open Colleges. I signed up for a photography course, but the assignments had almost nothing to do with photography. I was told to film myself loading boxes into a car and then go to a national park to record an evacuation plan. How is that relevant to photography? It felt ridiculous and like a total waste of time.

The student support was poor, the subjects were irrelevant, and when I cancelled the course because it wasn’t what was advertised, I still ended up having to pay fees. Very disappointing experience overall. I wouldn’t recommend Open Colleges to anyone looking for genuine, skill‑based learning.

My assessor Mel was very helpful and amazing, she gave me clear explanations throughout my assessment modules and I am very happy with the support she gave me, Thank you Mel.

Using an AI bot to cold call potential enrollees is an incredibly annoying and unnecessary approach.

Completing my CUA50720 Diploma of Graphic Design with Open Colleges has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. I’m very grateful for the knowledge, skills and confidence I gained throughout the course.
