This has had to be the worst company I have ever dealt with. I’m not normally one for writing reviews, but if this stops someone else receiving this level of service during what is already a financially and emotionally stressful time, I feel it’s only right that I share my experience.

Initially, everything was fine dealing with Megan while submitting offers on properties. However, once we had an offer accepted and our case was passed to Morgan, the experience completely changed.

The communication was absolutely shocking. Her automatic email response stated that she aimed to reply within two working days, which is already a long time when dealing with a time-sensitive property transaction. In reality, even that timeframe was regularly not met and that is when we received a response at all. I was constantly having to chase emails and updates.

Calling the office was no better. On numerous occasions I was told Morgan was on another call and would call me back. The callbacks simply never came. I genuinely lost count of how many times this happened.

Everything was being dealt with at the very last minute. We continually received draft statements rather than clear final figures, and I had to query and chase the final bills multiple times.

Even relatively basic matters were not followed through. Weeks before completion, we specifically asked Morgan to confirm with the seller’s solicitor whether the white goods were included in our purchase. On the day of completion, when I asked about it again, she appeared to have no recollection of the request. We were put on hold while she contacted the other side to establish the answer — something we had asked to be clarified weeks earlier.

The completion itself was unbelievably stressful. Morgan knew we were leaving the country on the Sunday for two weeks and therefore everything had to complete on the Friday. Despite this, matters were being dealt with late on Friday afternoon.

The solicitor acting for the buyer of our property closed at 4:00pm and went offline while matters were still outstanding. Through sheer luck, my partner knew someone at that firm personally and actually had to go down to their office and ask them to remain open so that the transaction could be completed. Had we not had that personal connection, I genuinely do not know whether we would have completed that day. Morgan later stated that she also stayed late to complete which would not have had to happen if matters were dealt with promptly.

The most concerning issue, however, happened with the redemption of my existing mortgage.

I acknowledge that when providing my mortgage account number I accidentally entered the final digit incorrectly. However, on 22 July, the bank informed Nero Legal that they could not provide a redemption statement because the mortgage corresponding to the details provided had already been redeemed. The bank explicitly told them to “check the details you’ve provided.”

This was nine days before our completion on 31 July.

Despite receiving that warning, the discrepancy was not resolved before completion. I subsequently discovered that my mortgage had remained outstanding after I had sold the property after I payed two mortgages. I followed up with Morgan and the mortgage was not redeemed until 11 August, resulting in additional interest accruing.

When the lender themselves tells a conveyancing solicitor nine days before completion that the mortgage details do not correspond to an active mortgage and specifically asks them to check those details, I cannot understand how this was allowed to reach completion without being resolved.

This wasn’t one isolated mistake. Our entire experience was characterised by chasing emails, promised callbacks that never happened, matters being dealt with at the last possible moment, uncertainty over figures and documents, and issues we had previously raised seemingly being forgotten.

Buying and selling a home is stressful enough without having to constantly check whether your own solicitor has dealt with things.

Based on my experience, I could not recommend Nero Legal and would never use them again.

Nero handled all of my legal documents while selling my home while I was overseas.

Don't use this solicitor ! I used them to buy a property and was cashing in shares to do so. Nero Legal did not know how funds are generated in shares, which is quite simple - you buy a share/s in a company and if that company does well, your shares increase. I sent Nero Legal all the information needed on my shares, e.g. my portfolio from my financial advisor and a letter from St James Place (one of the biggest Fund Managers in UK) To my surprise, Nero Legal sent me an e-mail saying they could not take my convenience any further. I was basically "left on the lurch", which left me confused and stressed. Immediately, after this e- mail I quickly engaged the services of another solicitor. I furnished the EXACT same information to this new solicitor and my purchase was completed in ten days. Dr JD
