Delayed return of deposit despite repeated assurances
I vacated my tenancy at 3 Oxford Road, Stratford on 22 July 2025. The tenancy agreement stated that my deposit of £1,471 should be returned within 10 working days where no deductions are in dispute.
Between 22 July and 7 August 2025, I contacted the agency multiple times to request the return of my deposit. On 7 August, the CEO confirmed by phone that the deposit would be paid in full by 9 August. On 9 August, I provided my bank details again via WhatsApp at their request, and was told the payment would be processed that weekend.
As of 15 August 2025, the deposit has not been returned. No deductions have been raised, and I have initiated a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) and issued a Letter Before Action.
This has been a frustrating experience, and I hope my review helps other tenants to be aware of my experience and to ensure they keep clear records when dealing with deposit returns.
