When I went to the nct centre in northpoint, a gentleman called, Jumar, was so professional and helpful. Jumar also made my day so much easier as well because when he was I had my three kids with me, he acted very quickly and made my children laugh. Jumar didn't have to do any of this but clearly its within his nature to be extremely kind and helpful. Thank you Jumar.

Was booked in for 4.15 pm
I arrived 330pn ..was told that there's a change of shift so I have to wait despite the center being quiet and the counter staff having a laugh amongst themselves.Had I known the time allocated was shift based when booking it might have helped me

Deansgrange today. Car failed on 6 'serious structural' corrosion items after the Eastern European lad went bonkers with a block of wood / screwdriver in the rear wheelarches. People in the viewing area were commenting on it, and I walked over and stared at him, at which point he stopped. Problem is, I'd sprayed on 'Stone chip' as I do. He obviously thought "This guy is trying to hide something and I'm going to find it no matter what!" Most cars over 10 years old would show some failure with the type of whacking he was doing. Last July I asked the tester "What's underneath like?" He replied "Fine". Go figure. This thing is a disgrace.

I am writing this review of the NCT centre in longford. I had a nct on 1/6/23 I couldn’t be more complimentary they were excellent, helpful and very polite. I want to single out Philip for special mention as he was so helpful and very friendly he is a great ambassador for the NCT

NCT at Cahir. At the check in a man whose overalls were inscribed "Team Leader" was simply in need of some profound 'customer care' training. Offhand and surly to the point of rudeness. The mechanic who did the test was charming and helpful. But only one star because of the unpleasant and discourteous check in.

Had nct today on my car in limerick centre was 10 mins late due to checkpoints when I arrived at the centre, I tried to explain why i was 10 mins late 1 man was behind desk another was vaping and another was walking around doing nothing I was told to leave as I was 10 mins late they wouldn't listen to me so was removed from centre its a disgrace the way I was spoken to and treated all because I was late beyond my control. Would nit recommend this test centre 1 star for sure.

I had a lovely experience at Northpoint Business Park. I had my appointment at 7.15am and by 7.35am my car was returned to me.Thank you to all staff in there. Isabella

My car was failed so I fixed what failed and then it passed what failed so they failed it on another thing that had passed the first time!!
They are a disgusting group of people that should be addressed as a bunch of thieves preying on peoples hard earned money!

On the advice of the NCT course I attended, when my baby started to come I refused the offer of interventions. N C T told me these would speed up my birth leading to unnecessary pain, tearing or assisted delivery. Due to following this advice I was in labour for 28 hours followed by an emergency c section. Own goal N CT worst outcome I wish I’d never heard of the NCT and followed the advice of the hospital.

Impossible to get an appointment. Have been on the priority list for 41 days. Was originally told 10 days and now I am told another three weeks. They blame shortcomings on Covid 19 which is unacceptable over two years into the pandemic. My car needed to be on the road over a month ago and I have lost so much work and income as a result.

Dealt with Shauna this morning on the customer service booking line , was extremely professional and helpful throughout a credit to any company ! Great work

I just had a wonderful experience at limerick NCT Centre. April, the customer service lady was incredibly pleasant . Her positivity was infectious and my overall low mood (I hate the NCT) was lifted after my encounter.

Brought car to nct
Told wheel bearing had “excessive play”
Turned out the wheel nuts were loose???
Seriously?
Same car
Told rear shock had a leak.
Replaced BOTH shocks
It failed retest?
Seriously?
It’s impossible to have any faith when such incompetence exists!!

I’m in the car trade and these people in nct are a disgrace.
I totally agree cars should be safe but this shower are only out to fail cars for nothing less than RETEST FEES , I’ve had a car fail in one center, do nothing to fix or repair it in any way, (it was nothing serious)brought it to another test center PAID THE FEE and they pass it .. it’s a disgrace,

Looking at the other reviews here, I see people have experienced failed tests for insubstantial faults, that has never happened to me, I think in all the years of having NCTs, I've had maybe 2 failures that required a visual re-inspection, luckily.
My 5* review today is actually to praise the Customer Service Centre staff - after a long delay in getting appointments at the start of this year, thanks to Covid, my car was 4 months late getting NCT'd, during which time a software fault developed that requires fixing at the main dealers, parts replaced etc., and it has dragged on now past the reinspection timeframe. The staff in the call centre have been so helpful and agreeable, I really have been pleasantly surprised, in my opinion, they've gone above and beyond to help me, rearranging times, issuing refunds etc., when they could have just passed the buck and told me to arrange it online and suffer the associated booking & cancellation fees etc.

I wouldn't bother normally reviewing something like this but I want to give credit where it's due. They've made things a lot easier for me in this annoying situation where I have to go miles out of my way at my own expense, take time off work etc. to go to a main dealer to resolve an issue that should never have happened, so at least NCT aren't adding to the hassle, thanks to the staff.

I agree cars need to be safe on the road! But this is just a money making cartel, failing cars on silly things especially in the "Tuam center". Rediculess!!!

National Cheating and Extortion Car centre
The above title is more suitable to the type of work these centers are doing.
After DVLA passed my car and MOT is still valid I came from England and the above cheating centre has failed it on the flimsy reason of the presence of thin transperant film on the number plate. They could not find anyhting wrong with the car that put safety in question. Castlerea National Cheating and Extortion car centre has shamelessly done that. Things that do not jeoparadise safety should be mentioned as an advice or comment not to fail the car and ask people to pay again to collect more money. Either they are directed to do that or they are malpractising and behaving like thugs and thieves for lack of supervision. They are dispreputing Ireland as many local people have mentioned that they are aware of this extortion and many public members had shouted at them and got upset.
I am not sure if there is an effective government in Ireland and if there is a transport minister who can put things right and protect the public of this extortion.
