I booked my initial teams call to discuss my situation and why I am looking for an accountant. The first weird sign was the male came onto the call but said he couldn’t be on camera because it was broken and they were waiting for a new one. I didn’t think much of it and continued with the call. He asked why/ where I had heard of them, I said someone had sent me there website because I was looking for accounts to specialize in social media accounting. The guy on the call reassured me that they have lots of experience working with influencers and people earning money through social media. He then continued to think I was selling on TikTok and got confused between the difference of an affiliate. Talking about my earning was a nightmare was trying to talk to me about being a LTD company! Then after discussing price etc, he asked if I had any questions. I asked how does it work with paying tax on free samples as if seen so many conflicting things online. He then said, we’ll answer any detailed questions you have once you’ve onboarded with us. I asked why he couldn’t answer the question and he stuttered and said “what was your question” this guy was obviously the sales guy and had no clue about social media accounting whatsoever. And the fact he wasn’t on camera was just weird. If this company isn’t a scam then the person I spoke to needs firing because I would not trust you to manage my piggy bank.
