Please do not use Dish Network

Please do not use Dish Network. After being a customer for over 5 years, Dish offered me free Netflix. I accepted, but they didn't tell me about the "catch." My agreement was about to be up. I had one more month. I didn't know that though. The next month they raised my rate substantially and told me I had agreed to a 2 year contract to get the free Netflix. I said that I hadn't and although they record every call, they wouldn't prove to me that they had told me about a new contract, or that I had agreed to it. They try to rip off Senior Citizens with this scam. I've been fighting with them for over a year. For your own protection NEVER use Dish. Also, you're not talking to anyone in this country. The people you talk to just use scripts to keep putting you off. If you want to deal with a bad business and bad customer service, call Dish. A 100% honest recap!

Bait & Switch by DISH network


On January 15, 2026, I attempted to set a TV and internet account with DISH network in Sun City Arizona. The process was cumbersome and long. I set up the TV account INCLUDING the service address and made it clear to the sale rep that I also want the internet service. I also make it clear that I want the 100 mbs internet for $50/month.

After setting the TV account up we went to set up the internet as promised for $50/mo. Low and behold, all of a sudden, no such internet plan for $50/mo. was available. But I was assured that an internet service was available for $120/mo.

For those unfamiliar with this sales tactic, it is referred to as BAIT AND SWITCH. This is one of the oldest cons in sales and seldom used today because it is unlawful in all states to do and carries various criminal penalties.

This behavior will be reported to the Arizona State Attorney General, Consumer Fraud Division, the CEO of Dish as well as all company ratings sites to which I report.

Long story short... My mother made an oopsie on her bill pay months ago and put an extra digit when submitting her payment to Dish Network. We have done everything possible to get the overpayment money they have, and they won't give it back. I'd sue them for it, but I don't know who to sue, let alone who to talk to. Our last attempt to get them to send the money back was when we talked to a higher-up, and she said there was a check being sent out and it would arrive in 9 days. It's been over 2 weeks since we talked to this person, and still no check, and she won't call us back after being requested. Nobody likes to answer the phone anymore, just leave a message and they choose to get back to you.

i doubt they can ever improve. every 6 months they increased the fees by 5 dollars and then hung up on me when i disputed the charges that had increased to $172.00 over the 14 years i had been subscribed to them. TODAY they went bye bye!!!! has become a lot of lousy content that i never watched. first today i was offered several different choices by a woman who in my opinion should be terminated. reduced fee to 158 dollars, then 98 dollars which changed to 111.98. when i said i can stream on another carrier for much less she hung up on me. called back ,got a young man who then offered me 58 dollars for just local channels a month. ALL wishy washy and have a receiver that's defective, possibly a fire hazard as it is overheating. I'm disgusted that this overrated, ancient system is still operating for the overrated pricing, and how they treat their customers. the rating above should be -0000 never will i ever recommend this company to anyone! i started this service it was 42.dollars a month. EVEN HUGHES NET IS CHEAPER ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHERS

Top Notch!

Dish Network is by FAR! the best television company in the country, not only did they give me a 2 year price guarantee but when that 2 years was up they gave me another 2 year guarantee, So much better than streaming, the quality is night and day, ill never go back to streaming. Thank you Dish Network

Worst service

Yes, I am writing this review because I am really tired of the service with Dish Network. First of all I have been a customer for over 20 years with Dish and ever since the pandemic they have gone downhill 500%.Yes, I am writing this review because I am really tired of the service with Dish Network. First of all I have been a customer for over 20 years with Dish and every since the pandemic they have gone downhill 500%. First of all their customer service is just atrocious number two. Their Tech Support has no earthly idea what they're doing. I have had nothing but agony with Dish and it just gets to a point where you don't even want to call, they won't return your calls. You cannot talk to anybody in the United States. You have to talk to somebody overseas and unfortunately, it's very hard to understand them. I would not recommend Dish Network. I am looking at finding me another Provider

i had a president of the company ignore my messages.
it was supposed to be 3 months free , i never got an email stating this. when i called , i was told an associate that the charge i got they were going to fix 3 months free starting now. when i emailed the president of the company asking him for 4 months free due to my bad service from previous call with their company. he had someone and told me i had to pay for the first month. even though i was told by they going to fix the issue, so i would not have to pay for it . when i sent him an email about why i felt it was not right, he competently ignored my message waited 24 hours and sent him text did you get this. he did not respond . another 24 hours later still no answer . again i said did you get that . he had someone else call me and said because i sent him too many did you get that's, he was completely cutting me off . so i don't have any service .
again i emailed him multiple times and he still will not respond

I wish I would have read the reviews…

I wish I would have read the reviews here first. Avoid this company at all costs. I tried to cancel and they convinced me to put my account on hold for now. They did neither and continued to charge me. When I called back to cancel, they offered to give me money back, only if I didn’t cancel. Really shady company.

Charges that are EXCESSIVE!!!

Contacted Dish about my 86 year old mother's bill which is $156.36 per month. Which is outrages for a person on a fixed income and lives alone. Customer service reps have NO IDEA what the differences are between their own receivers (Hopper, Hopper/Sling, Joey, Super Joey, Joey2.0) it is totally ridiculous. Called to obtain this information and the rep hung up on me and never called back. I will be disconnecting all receivers and moving her to another provider. Absolutely horrible!!!

DON'T USE DISH

I was a loyal customer of Dish TV for 15 years. We had issues with dish service only about 4 times. Mainly due to their equipment failure over the years. Dish sent technicians to our house to trouble shoot the problems. The tech said our original equipment is out dated and should be upgraded. The tech got authorization from his supervisor to replace the equipment. Got the equipment no problems. The tech removed all the old equipment and replaced it with the new. The last 4 years of our service we were on an annual contract for the price negotiated roughly $84 a month. Our issue this past year is they raised the rate to $138 and we decided to end our contract on the date specified by our contract. I made contact with CS and expressed our desire to cancel. Well, we went back & forth about them lowering the price again. After not coming to an agreement we proceeded to cancel. The major problem that we encounter was they still had the old equipment that the technician picked up and replaced still on our records. They wanted to charge us $2470 for the cost of this equipment that had been replace 7 years ago by their own technician on orders from his supervisor. We all know DISH would never allow us to keep 2 sets of their equipment without them asking about it for over 7 years. After dealing with them for over a week trying to get that resolved, we finally started the return process. Let me give you some advise. If you cancel your service, pull your current contract and read it over. Then, video you packing their equipment in their provided box showing everything you put in and then seal it. Also, video tape yourself going to the shipping location and handing it over to them. Get a receipt and keep it for at least a year or more. Proof of the return is golden. I will never return as a DISH customer ever again. Not because of the service, but the prices are not in line with their competitors for the same or better service. Plus the very poor predatory customer service from the beginning to the end. Customers should never have to go through the BS these companies put them through. Contracts are a thing of the past anymore. Think twice about dealing with them and any like companies. We cut the cord and have more TV channels of what we like instead of all the nothing channels DISH provided. Starlink has put a huge major dent into DISH's monopoly for rural areas. No longer need a satellite dish on your house or in your yard anymore. DISH is near bankruptcy soon and that fault is their own. If someone ask me about weather they should get DISH. My response would be RUN. Hope my experience helps other make a good decision in the future.

My tv resets itself about 5 times a day and night. I have a hard time sleeping so the tv is on to drowns out noise. I have to reset the BR tv at least 3 times. It always says it’s not connected, when Dish has taken it down to update. Over and over, day/night after day/night. It’s very frustrating. Sometimes I’m almost asleep and have to perform 2-3 reset each time.
The prices are outrageous. If you opt out of canvass, you’re stuck with the dish on the roof.
With covid, you’d think they’d have put canvas as an option to choose. Teachers are still using canvas, still not an option on dish. This has been going on for at least 4 years. No help to the parent trying to make sure work is getting done!
. The only tv that gets prime is the main one. So much for pause a program and watch it in another room.

My wife signed up for service and put the account under my name. After 4 months, I could not justify paying so much money for inferior programing! They packaged so many garbage channels: Fox News, Comet, Cozi, E!, Home Shopping Network, ion, and many more. I cancelled and sent the receiver and hardware back. Their customer service was very rude, and they tried every trick to keep me from cancelling. My wife was very sick at the time, and I was travelling overseas quite a bit due to my job. After my wife passed away, I discovered that they had sent my account to collections for an early termination of service that I did not agree to. I did not find out about it until 2 years later. Customer service was very rude again! I did not sign up for their service, and I was in a grieving state. I just did not care to deal with them, so I paid it to get it off my credit report; however, it stayed there for 7 years! Dish is a horrible company with overpriced and inferior programming and very rude customer service! Stay away from them.

Transferred from Direct TV to Dish…

Transferred from Direct TV to Dish Network in November of 11/2023, went on their web site and request the $300.00 gift card after my first bill was paid. Paid my 2nd bill and 3rd bill called in February 2024 and was told that I did everything right and should receive my gift card by 2/21/2024. Nothing, no email, no text, NOTHING regarding that this information was not provided to me.I have call 5 times and the last person I spoke with on 3/6/2024 her name was Anna in the (Management Department) she ask me if we got the code?I said WHAT CODE! She said I should have gotten a code to receive the gift card, I said I did not get a code and she says I HEAR THAT ALL THE TIME....By that time it was passed the time allow to submit the code for the gift card. This is the problem, and Dish Network is playing people regarding this code and by the time they give you this information to redeem the card it is to late. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau regard this scam. SAME ON YOU DISH NETWORK! Least I know I did everything right. Please Dish Network, Do the right thing and pay what was advertised and offered.

DISH does not support customer service

I had a great cellular service company (Ting Mobile) that DISH Network Corporation took over and ruined. DISH has poorly trained, ill-informed, underpaid and overworked customer service representatives overseas. DISH takes most of your hard-earned money for their yachts and mansions and servants, and pays their customer service representatives only pennies to help you with your problems that DISH has caused. I've made four requests over the last four days, spending hours of my time trying to get DISH to unlock my phone, which I purchased outright and should not have been locked in the first place.
(added 12/17/25) They finally unlocked it, but what on ordeal.

Switched from Directv to Dish under…

Switched from Directv to Dish under their 3 year price freeze gaurantee and a $300 gift card. All I had to do was submit recent Directv bills. So I uploaded 6 months of Directv bills. The actual bills. So nothing happens except a lot of phone calls to Dish and at first they said upload your bills. I asked how. They said click on the upload your bill link. No link so many calls later and online chats finally a link. So I upload the bills. This was December 2023 since I became a customer . Today is March 23 2024. Lots of calls and finally when I log on 2 months later I see a message that as soon as I pay my first Dish bill they will send the $300 gift card. So my first second third fourth bills paid. Still no gift card. Today I contact Dish via chat ( they have no public email address ) . In the chat they send me a message that the subscriber did not supply a valid method of proving he came to them as a Directv customer. So I ask the chat person " I sent 6 months of Directv bills " I sent the bills. What better proof of being a ex Directv customer than the bills. "
So I advise the Dish chat person I am recording the chat. He tells me the best I can do is take a screen shot. So I recorded the whole chat and told him I believe Dish has voided their own agreement. He told me they will let me re-upload the Directv bills. I am not the first person to go through this with Dish. I am reading many of the same complaints. Bad business. Dish is just a non pay. promise of gift cards a scam!

Like other reviews here I was promised a gift card for switching from directtv to dish after i paid my first month bill. after two months I called and they said i need an offer code that i was given when i signed up. I was never given an offer code. What a scam. And when you read reviews other people who took time to write a review did not get their gift card. Do not believe their offers!!
