Bought my first car from Motorshift process was quick and easy, lads are lovely. Would recommend to anyone!

I would give zero stars if it were possible.

Do not trust these cowboys. I called on Bank Holiday Monday after finding a car that seemed reasonably priced and images appeared to show it in a good condition. I was told the car was available, had passed all of its inspection checks, and was in a drive-away condition. I explained that I would have to travel three hours by train to view it, so I needed assurance that the car was roadworthy and could be driven home. That assurance was given.

After a nightmare journey, I arrived at the dealership with my three-year-old daughter on what was the hottest day of the year. The salesman (who will remain nameless) kept us waiting for over half an hour in what can only be described as a portacabin with no air conditioning.

Eventually, I was shown the car and found it to be filthy. It had a severely cracked front bumper, scratches across most of the bodywork, and a missing panel on the rear bumper (which I was told had been stolen and was on order). The salesman then said, “What do you expect from a car that’s seven years old and worth £8,500?” He proceeded to fill the large cracks with what appeared to be nail varnish.

Despite this, I thought there might still be room to negotiate on the price, so I took the car for a test drive. During the drive, I discovered the mileage was around 3000 higher than advertised and that the electric clock was not functioning properly. The salesman explained this was apparently all Auto Traders fault!!!

When we returned to the dealership, there was no apology for the inconvenience or the misleading information I had been given—just a token offer of £100 off the asking price. In addition they add a hidden administration charge to the price of the car despite this not being advertised in either their own website or Autotrader. Needless to say, I declined.

I didn’t get home until after 11pm. To add insult to injury, they didn’t even offer to reimburse my £100 travel costs, proceeded to call me the next day to see if I’d changed my mind and then took more than a week to refund my £50 deposit.

Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. I would strongly recommend avoiding this dealership.

Absolute cowboys who sell unroadworthy vehicles and refuse to refund monies even with 90 days, let alone the 6 months as required by law under the consumer rights Act.
I have now had to involve the Motor Ombudsman and pursue the Director via the courts.
DO NOT BY A VEHICLE FROM THESE COWBOYS!!!!

I purchased a Jeep Renegade and was looked after by Ben, who delivered excellent customer from start to finish. I got a fair deal on my trade in and got my new car a few days later with a full MOT. Definitely recommend.

Bought a car here, had issues but expected no lasting issues as the car comes with warranty. Problem is they mess you around and do everything they can to not have to deal with the problem. Avoid this place.

I would strongly advise exercising caution when dealing with Motorshift.

My experience raises serious concerns regarding accuracy of advertising, quality of workmanship, and aftersales support. The vehicle was advertised at 108,000 miles but was in fact supplied at 112,000 miles.

When I attended to collect the vehicle, I was informed that the spare key had been misplaced. This is a basic item that should be accounted for and provided as part of the sale.

At the point of collection, remedial paintwork was being carried out in front of me using what appeared to be inappropriate materials, which falls well below any acceptable professional standard. A valet was also promised as part of the sale but was clearly not carried out to a reasonable or acceptable standard.

Several items and repairs were explicitly agreed prior to purchase, including repair of the front grille, provision of a towing eye cover, driver-side sun visor, and car mats. These were either not completed, not supplied, or significantly delayed without explanation.

I was also left without my vehicle for 8 days while these issues were being addressed, which caused significant inconvenience, particularly as I live 90 miles away.

I have also not received the vehicle logbook (V5C)as of yet, i purchased the vehicle 01/03/26 it is now 02/05/26. which is a fundamental document required for vehicle ownership and registration, and should have been properly processed and provided.

Aftersales communication was extremely poor. Multiple attempts to make contact via telephone, text, and voicemail went unanswered, despite assurances that updates would be provided.

This experience does not reflect the level of care, transparency, or professionalism expected under consumer protection standards. I would strongly recommend that any prospective customer ensures all representations, repairs, and agreements are fully documented and verified before proceeding.

I am now considering formally escalating this matter to Trading Standards and pursuing further action if necessary.

Overall, this has been a frustrating, time-consuming, and unsatisfactory experience.

Mark was absolutely brilliant , helping me out with everything. The communication from him was brilliant. He was helpful in picking my car upto actually leaving with the car.

I purchased a lovely, well priced Audi from Motorshift. Both Mark and Scott were really helpfull and listened to what I needed. Very smooth process and easy to follow.

I purchased a car from Motorshift Ltd for £7,000 and have had nothing but problems since.

Within weeks of buying the car, it developed an oil leak. Even though the car came with a warranty, Motorshift has failed to pay the garage for the repair work, leaving me stuck with the bill.

Now, just 3-4 months after purchase, the car has developed a coolant system leak / belt problems/ oil presure issue which was not solved on first attempt to fix issue - the second major fault in a matter of months. The car has been undrivable twice in this short period.

For £7,000, I expected a reliable vehicle, not one that breaks down every few weeks. When I've tried to resolve this with Motorshift, they haven't taken responsibility or honored the warranty they sold me.

This has been an extremely stressful and costly experience.

I would not recommend Motorshift Ltd to anyone. A used car dealership should stand behind what they sell, especially when they offer a warranty. Very disappointed.

The car was exactly as described, spotless inside and out, fully serviced and ready to go. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and never pushy. They answered all my questions, gave me a fair price part-exchange price and even helped sort out paperwork quickly.

I have encountered numerous issues with this company, beginning with a delay of nearly a month. Subsequently, I discovered several missing items, including the boot mat, parcel shelf, and drinks divider. Additionally, there were broken components near the mirror, a damaged sun visor, and a malfunctioning light. I also had to replace the battery, as the incorrect one was installed, rendering the stop-start function inoperable and preventing the vehicle from starting. The vehicle was delivered in an unacceptably dirty condition, with the cream interior being heavily soiled. Furthermore, the mileage was inaccurate, and there is now a knocking sound from the rear. Despite promises that parts would be sent, my communications have since been ignored. I intend to escalate this matter. I strongly advise against engaging with this company.

Hi , i bought car from Dean. He was really helpful to point me in the right direction for the car that suited my needs. I have had no trouble with the vehicle or any after service when i call about a few things on the vehicle I did not know how to use. Excellent service throughout and will come here again when I need another vehicle.

Excellent service from start to finish, my salesman Mark went above and beyond to help choice my new car. Picked my car up a few days later and everything was just perfect, I definitely can recommend this company.
