I had a very poor experience with Motorpoint Oldbury and feel it’s important to make others aware.

Shortly after purchasing my vehicle, I noticed an issue with a loose wire in the driver’s footwell. I raised this multiple times through different channels but was repeatedly passed around, dismissed, and even redirected to the warranty team instead of the issue being properly investigated. I was also quoted £84 for a diagnosis on what has now been confirmed to be a pre-existing fault.

To make matters worse, I also found personal belongings from the previous owner still in the car, including funeral leaflets and airport parking tickets. This raises serious concerns about how thoroughly vehicles are checked and prepared before sale.

As I was getting nowhere through the usual channels, I took it upon myself to investigate further. Knowing the previous owner had been disabled, I identified that the issue was likely related to a previously installed disabled driving pedal that had not been properly removed. It was only after I presented this myself that the matter was taken seriously and progressed.

The only positive part of my experience was when I finally got through to someone at head office. He listened to my concerns and arranged for the vehicle to be booked in for an inspection. Unfortunately, this level of service was not reflected elsewhere.

When I attended the site for the inspection, it was confirmed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the improperly removed pedal, which had left exposed wiring. This was extremely concerning given I had already been driving the car for around a month.

Even at that stage, I had to push to speak to a manager and request a hire car myself rather than this being offered. At no point did I feel supported or reassured.

While my car was being repaired and I had a hire vehicle, I then felt pressured to return as soon as possible once the work was completed, seemingly because the hire car needed to be returned. I explained that I had a doctor’s appointment after work and could not make it within their opening hours, yet I was still repeatedly asked to come in urgently. This was despite me already having taken over an hour out of my working day for the inspection and having to chase repeatedly for updates.

After the repairs were completed, I requested documentation outlining what work had been carried out. I was told this would be sent, but after two weeks I had received nothing and had to chase multiple times. I was then informed that no formal documentation could be provided and that only an email explanation would be given. When I eventually received this, it felt reluctant and lacked any real reassurance or acknowledgment of the seriousness of the situation.

Although the issue has now been fixed, the overall response has been dismissive, with no real accountability taken and no willingness to consider compensation despite the safety risk and poor handling throughout.

Overall, it feels like once the sale was completed, the level of customer care disappeared. I would strongly advise others to thoroughly check any vehicle before driving away. In my case, however, this fault was not disclosed and was not something I could reasonably have been expected to identify without actively investigating it myself. It raises serious doubts as to whether proper pre-sale inspections were carried out or whether this issue was only addressed once I forced the matter after a month of use.

Spoke with Dan who straight away knew exactly the type of car I was after and listened to my budget and concerns after an awful experience elsewhere. He was understanding and helpful and the first car he showed me was perfect for my needs. He took the time to go through the finance with me, tweaking my deposit to get me a monthly price I was happy with.
All staff I encountered were friendly and positive and I didn’t feel under pressure at any time which made a big decision easier to make. I’d definitely return in tne future and will be recommending to friends.

The car was imaculate on collection. The staff were very friendly. There was no Sat Nav SD card, so therefore no Sat nav, but customer service reimbursed me for the missing card and communication was outstanding from start to finish.

The vehicle was delivered ahead of time and available to test drive. Sam and Lucy from the sales team were amazing and made the purchase really easy with no pressure unlike most second hand car retailers. Would definitely recommend Motorpoint Oldbury.

Had a great experience buying my first car with Steve. His customer service was amazing and he made it really easy to understand everything and get everything sorted.

My wife wanted a car but didn’t really knew what car she wanted, she spoke to a gentleman named Khalid in Oldbury, what a man, he asked so many questions on what she was looking for, budget and much more, showed us the best cars available for what she needed the car for, found one she liked and Khalid still showed us more and encouraged her to look at them, Khalid was brilliant and we choose the car she wanted. Everything was in order when we collected the car the next day and his aftercare is world class, I don’t think we would go anywhere else now for our next car and we will definitely want to be served by Khalid, thank you.
