really prompt response at the first call and clear expectations set. Help arrived fasster than expected and was verry good with advie and got things working again. ( date of recovery approx)

After only being with Gem for 2 weeks we had a breakdown, it was at rush hour and winter.
The service we received was very quick. The breakdown recovery was with us within the hour.
The guy drove us to our local garage , he was absolutely brilliant. Well done ✔️

GEM breakdown has been amazing. I was worried when my car broke down for a second time within a month of the previous rescue (different issue) , that I wouldn't be able to make use of recovery again. However, they kindly sent someone out who diagnosed the issue and arranged for it to be transported to my mechanic again. I can't thank GEM enough. Lovely people to deal with and very kind when you're very stressed.

I recently had a flat tyre on a day when it was raining very heavily. The breakdown man came and managed to use my Tyre Weld (which was faulty) as I didn't want to be taken home on a recovery vehicle if possible. He asked if I would be OK going home in the dark as there was lots of flooding. I had only been home about 10 minutes when he rang to see I was indoors safe and sound. Marvellous.

I haven't had to use the policy in the 5 years I've been a GEM member, but I appreciated how easy it was to cancel when I didn't need breakdown cover for a few months. I chose GEM again when I needed a new policy.

Unfortunately I broke down on a back road when heading home from work.
It was dark and cold as no engine for heating due to breakdown.
GEM call controller struggled to understand me ( Scottish accent possibly) but eventually got the details.
Then the wait and wait and wait, eventually GEM called me to say they couldn't get me any recovery local that night and the recovery would need to happen the next day!
I was seen by a passing neighbour who kindly helped me move off the corner of the road and then took me home!
GEM said 12 the next day so took my lunch hour and went to meet the recovery... however GEM did not phone and dispatch a recovery truck until 12!!
In short a poor service if you live remotely and absolutely no compassion for your loss of time or inconvenience having a recovery policy that doesn't do same day recovery!!

We have a family policy and my daughter needed help when her car broke down, the response time was very good and the agent got her back on the road quickly with some advice as to go to a garage at her destination.
He was helpful and courteous.
It gives me confidence if I should breakdown myself or if my daughter or wife should need assistance we would be in safe hands.
One other bonus is the motoring magazine which is posted to members a few times a year, it is a good read and has interesting features.

After a longer than expected wait the helpful technician arrived. However he was unable to successfully unlock the car. In hindsight it would have been helpful for him to know in advance that our car is a Hyundai EV, has a double lock system and either he (or his company) knowing how to contact Hyundai to allow remote assistance with the app's inability to unlock the car.

Very fast answering, caring and helpful response.
I had put a little diesel in my new petrol car, the specialist arrived within 45 minutes with all the right kit, drained down, refilled with petrol, checked it over, all with a cheery smile.

We were on our way to France when we had a problem with the car. I called GEM and they were happy to send someone to help. The mechanic arrived less than 30 mins after the call and was very helpful. Thankfully he was able to fix the problem so we could continue on our holiday.

Luckily I've not had to use them for breakdown. Well, we nearly did and then cancelled it as my wife got through on hers eventually. They followed up though shortly after to make sure we were ok as on a busy stretch. Went above what was expected

Hi it feels good to have cover just in case i have not had to use the service as i have not had a breakdown but cost and cover good.
I have been kept upto date via e-mail and magazine all good hope the renewal price is good.

Absolutly awful. Be aware that the service is provided by a 3rd party and they do not have their own patrols. If you live in a remote area, like me, you are probably not going to be recovered outside of business hours. I was left with my daughter in the car from 10pm until 7am when they fitted a new tyre after a blow out from a pothole. They told me it was fine to drive and left. I then found that the back tyre had also blown out and they had just left that one. We eventually got recovered by 1pm a total of 15 hours after reporting the problem. -1 degrees outside on a dark country road with no where to go.
