Winter weekend wild camping in the Black Isle
Great time having weekend break wild camping up north with the family. 6 berth van for 4 of us worked well, very comfortable and had most things we needed, perhaps a larger generator would have helped but otherwise everything was to a very high standard. Good customer service too.

BEWARE....Some consumer rights are not…
BEWARE....Some consumer rights are not applicable to motor home hire.
Non refundable deposit -. stated on their TandCs (including consumer rights of 14 day cooling down period)- this appears to be absolute, even if it feels unfair.
I've learnt this the hard way...
Yes, I confirmed I am happy to accept the non refundable deposit situation.This was based on the information on their website .
My husband and I had booked this van based on the NC 500. We had helpful advise with choosing the right Van for our needs. Which left us really excited about our holiday for August.
At no point on the phone or through our emails was I STRONGLY advised against taking the route.
Three days after booking, we received an email from Motorhome escapes expressing that they STRONGLY advise that this route is not taken due to it's unsuitablabily for a camper vans and during this busy period.
The route is what we booked it for, understanding the situation and not wanting to explore areas we've done before, we asked to cancel, and as they STRONGLY ADVISED we thought they may consider a giving us a refund, especially as it was only 6 days after booking and 3 days since they sent their email.
Also to note: It doesn't state that it is STRONGLY ADVISED to not take this route on their website; we wouldn't have booked it had we have understood this before.
I asked as a good will gesture, as it's not stated on the website and we hadn't been informed beforehand, could we have a refund.
Again the answer is no. They STRONGLY ADVISED,and have not said you cannot do the NC500.
I 'STRONGLY ADVISE' this particular company to flag that the route is STRONGLY ADVISED against, before allowing the customer to part with money, this way the customer doesn't feel let down, or have reason not to not trust you.
Transparency is key, it does not feel that you have been fully transparent with me which is why I requested the refund. (Informing me after I have paid is not transparency)
If this was a situation where it was unavoidable I would have understood, such as short notice or road closures - but there were a number of occasions I could have been told before parting with money. Instead I received emails such as book before you miss out, adding additional pressure to book quickly.

Dear Wendy, we are dissappointed to read your review. It is both inaccurate and misleading.
You made your booking a week ago, not 3 days ago. We are a rental vehicle provider. Customer's decide where they wish to take the vehicle. We do not prevent, and have never prevented our customers from doing the NC500. We can only offer suggested itenaries. We offer helpful advice based on experience of renting vehicles for over 10 years. It is well known that the NC500 can become busy in summer months, and that certain sections are narrow and single track road, and we advise customers as such. It is ultimately our customer's decision as to where they choose to take the rental vehicle.
We do not rent vehicles to customers conditional on where they wish to drive. We simply rent a vehicle to them. Customer decide where they wish to go.
You read and signed our terms and conditions and understood the booking conditions when you booked. Our terms with respect to a non-refundable booking deposit are no different to other motorhome rental companies and by your own admission above you understood and acccepted them.
You have subsequently changed your mind about the holiday on the pre-text that 'you are not allowed' to do the NC500, which is inaccurate. You cancelled your reservation, not us. We indicated to you that you are welcome to do the route, or infact any other route. It is disingenuous to indicate that we prevented you from driving the route. We have hundreds of customers each year who do drive the NC500. We have been transparent and above board from the outset, and are terms are visible and you signed to agree to the terms. We follow and adhere to Consumer Rights legislation as any responsible company would.
