If I could give a zero star I would! My student loan was paid off in Jan. Resulting in a $900+ refund. It is now Sept. 11 2026 and I have still not received a resolution. I have Multiple recordings of conversations with managment. Everytime I call I am placed on hold for ever and if you ask for a supervisor they send you to a CB line. I am now almost a year into this being paid off and all I get everytime I call is we need to research. Literaly its paid, over paid Issue the refund. I spoke to the US Treasurey Dept. Re: Student loans. This is who told me to recor all of my conversations and get as many peoples names that I spoke to as I could. If you run into a similar situation record/document every conversation you have with them, your gonna need it!

I paid off my student loans with these money bandits and prior to paying off I cancelled my auto debit. Next few days rolled around and bam auto debit came out. LMAO because I knew this was going to happen. I encourage everyone to run from this place it’s not worth the hassle.

Do not use them!!!!!... they are a scam. I paid off my loan on August 8 of 2025 in full, which I did with a representative because the amount was 19,000 and change. The rep advised I call back 14 days later to make sure there was no lingering interest. I called back on Sept 9 and paid $.12 cents, which again I had to have a rep assist because the amount was so low. I decided to check my account in January of 2026 just to make sure everything was ok, and thank god I did. The website reflected a $247 balance which made no sense. Over the serious of 7 months, I went through numerous "escalated supervisors" to try to figure out where the balance came from. When you call you have to explain the situation each time to a "regular rep"..only to be transferred to an "escalated supervisor", which is a recording stating there are none available lol, and they will call you back within 24 hours. So not only did I have to wait to be called back but had to keep my phone on me at all times, so I did not miss their call. After many months, one supervisor finally could explain that it was interest that they applied to my account after I had paid it off. Her excuse was that they were posting interest and had not gotten to my account before I paid it off. When all was said and done, I managed to have the account adjusted to a balance of $93.47, which the last supervisor I spoke with said because it was under $100 they would write it off. She said the accounting department is the only one that can write it off and that I would have to call and put in several requests from a supervisor to reach out to the accounting department before they would actually write it off. Long story short, I wasted over 7 months trying to resolve a balance I never should have had. Only to finally pay the $93 and change. They intentionally give you the run around, so eventually you give up and just pay the balance instead of wasting months of time which is what I did. I would never use them again, they are incompetent, theives. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called in to get assistance- instantly the representative asked for my SSN. As soon as I provided and I asked a simple question on my account she told me she needed to transfer me to an advanced agent. I don’t have time to hold on line for another hour. Get agents that know the system so that people are NOT wasting their day to be told something ridiculous. Sooooo Disappointed with this platform. —ALSO GET AN APP-

DUCK this company. Make you sit there for 15 minutes while they calculate a new repayment rate -- get the rate and it's still too high -- then he says it only works out if I pay today when I ALREADY SAID I can't pay til tomorrow. Have to call back and go through the calculations again tomorrow...even though he just did it...and my job situation won't change in a day. DUCK MOHELA.

I have spent several hours on hold to speak with someone and I am still waiting. I got one lady after holding and she said I needed advanced help. I am still waiting. They do not have email either. This is so frustrating 😤. This is day three and I have spent at least 5 hours on hold. I don't think they care.

Their customer service line is absolute hell with over 5 minutes of automated messages that do not pertain to me and no way to request speaking to an actual person.

Like everyone else has indicated, they are a useless servicer to work with. I'm shocked at how imcompetant the employees are (if you can get ahold of one)

I have requested in writing and called on the telephone to have payment coupons mailed to me. Hasn't happened yet.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. They are the shadiest people I have ever dealt with. They should be shut down and thrown in jail. Screwing with interest rates, delays in payments, account information impossible to get.

Mohela has been horrible and I am shocked that they are still operating. Mishandling of payments is an understatement and they will retro go back and change things without your knowledge. Mohela change my payment counts more than 60 days after they sent me a statement to pay. They said I went to school so they had to go back and make my payments not count and when I requested to give my money back they said no it's after 60 days. So they can go and change something after 60 days but you are denied your rights at the expense of their negligence. It's criminal how they handle things.

Total confusion is what you will get from this company they really should be removed from government student loans. I had a loan fraudulently taken out in my name and SS# representatives here could not be more useless if they were trying. I was transferred to resolution team three times only to get an immediate message informing nobody is available and a supervisor will call back within 2 days. Seriously 2 days for an urgent matter? It's been 3 days now with no call back

When my kids went to college, I promised to pay their student loans. My daughter is currently serving in the Army and the Army is paying her student loans for her. There is an option for us to stop paying while she is continuing to receive payments as part of her enlistment contract. We sent in all the required paperwork. They denied it three times without explanation. If you attempt to contact them by email, you receive the same auto generated email. And you will never get a human being on the phone. No other company in the world would stay in business with this business model. But there are no consequences for a company managing government loans.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It's also Autism Acceptance Month. So I made this review, hoping MOHELA never abuses anyone. Ever again.

I was raped a few years ago. I began to struggle quite a bit. Because of my autism, ADHD, and auditory processing delays, I needed additional assistance with my loans. Most importantly, I needed everything IN WRITING. I clearly and repeatedly invoked the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 USC § 12101 et seq.) to MOHELA. Asking that any & all questions be clearly answered in writing. I requested an ADA coordinator. Instead, all I got were a bunch of incompetent, inarticulate, ignorant, uneducated employees at MOHELA. I clearly cited the law. I clearly stated my disabilities (which I'm not required to do). Finally, because MOHELA repeatedly refused to comply, I filed a formal complaint with the Missouri Human Rights Commission (MHRC). The pain MOHELA caused was profound and systemic. As an autistic person, my civil rights and basic dignity have been repeatedly violated. And MOHELA continued that abuse.

I decided to make a public records request; I wanted to see if others like me we're having the same issues. This allows everyday people like you and me to ask for records a public entity has or an entity that does work on behalf of a government agency. In MOHELA case, it's called The Missouri Sunshine Law. The legal citation is Mo. Rev. Stat. §§ 610.010–610.035. I sent several requests. To my horror, MOHELA repeatedly failed to acknowledge the request within 3 days. There are no exceptions - if you invoke the Sunshine law, MOHELA must respond within no less than 3 days. Accordingly, MOHELA very blatantly broke the law in front of me repeatedly by violating my ADA rights. And then they proceeded to repeatedly break the law by not responding to public records requests in the required timeframe.

So I finally filed that complaint with the MHRC. I filed complaints with my state & federal representatives, the Department of Education, the Department of Justice's Office for Civil Rights, and told them too to retain my complaints under state/federal public records law, so that anyone else asking about systemic conduct by MOHELA would find it.

But what I'm most proud about in April, as an autistic rape survivor, is standing up for myself. I found the courage to stand up to my attacker a while ago. And once again by confronting MOHELA on its repeated violations of ADA & Sunshine law, I found the courage to stand up against an abuser once again. Don't ever be afraid to stand up to a crooked loan servicing entity like MOHELA.

Dealt with an agent and she was not knowleadgeable about what was going on. just read off the paper.

1 star because the site will not let me leave less. For over 2 years I have sent in and called, even sent the correspondence certified mail about the loan being discharged by the federal government due to misleading information and claims by the school. They refuse to acknowledge this and keep directing me to the DOE. Funny thing is DOE states Mohela has all the required information to forgive the loans and that no action is needed in their part. They lie and mislead people just to tack on interest.

All they do is transfer you to resolutions who might call you back in 2 or 3 weeks. I saw they were sued in California do these very actions. How is this still allowed to exist and handle government funding.

I can never get an actual person on the phone. Meanwhile my documents uploaded are not being reviewed and they are screwing my perfect credit. This is the only company that has been the absolute worst to try and deal with. They have the power to ruin our credit but they can't actually get on the phone and help someone without a computer doing it. It's like a black hole of death that can take a persons life without any effort and blame it on us though we tried our best to work with them. Absolutely awful.

This company is horrible. If I am so much as one day late, I feel like I get harassed incessantly. Customer service isn't much help either.

My loans keep going into forbearance so none of myvpayments are counting towards PSLF. I keep getting the loans out of forbearance, making payments and then Mohela puts them back in forebearance.
