Our friendly, highly-trained and caring veterinary team has a wealth of experience and we treat dogs, cat, rabbits, small pets and poultry. Our main practice in Braintree is supported by our community branch in the village of Coggeshall. At Braintree, we have spacious on-site parking, we consult throughout the day with appointments as early as 8am until 8pm and consult from 8am - 6pm on Saturdays. Outside of our opening hours all calls to our practice number are automatically diverted to the out of hours veterinary service, Vets Now, based in Witham. We never move our patients to another site or practice for overnight care. Our surgery is well equipped with a wide range of medical diagnostic tools, including CT scanner. We can treat almost any condition, including life-threatening ones, within the practice. This means quicker diagnosis, treatment and recovery times for your pet, as well as greater convenience for you. Our greatest asset, though, is our staff. It is the individual skill, care and attention we give to each patient that’s at the heart of successful treatment, and this is what makes us different. Established in 1966, we have been treating your pets as our for more than half a century - we are proud to remain a 100% independent veterinary practice. Steer clear of this vets
Steer clear of this vets. I used for years with my dog. My dog was said to have a water infection as she could not wee. She constantly strained.
She was admitted into this vets. And fitted with a catheter as her bladder was full. And given antibiotics to give her. We did this and gave the instructed pain Relief.
We also had appts every day other than when they was closed on the Sunday.
Catheter came out Saturday two days after being fitted. As her urine was clear. However we was back to square one with her trying to wee all day and night. Also she was trying to go on the Sunday. Whereby she was doing spots of urine. On Monday morning we had a appt with this particular vet.
On the consolation she said it’s ok with just the dribbles. And said I’m not happy with that. . She did spotting urine Saturday night and all day Sunday. and I feel she needs to come in. Her bladder must be full she has been crying and grumbling. The vet in question did a small shape with her two hands to me and my daughter. And said it’s only that much full. After nearly 48 hours of just tiny spots. I struggled to believe her. But we was still sent away with Tilly. So we was back again in Tuesday morning at 9am. Much to my disgust it was the same vet. Now Tilly had gone since Saturday afternoon with just passing drops of urine.
She had ago at me and my daughter saying you did not want to pay for culture on her urine. I said no untill she finished current 5 days antibiotics. If not moved forward on infection then yes will do test then. She repeated this upsetting my daughter and myself as her attitude was awfull. She also said I feel I’m working on a budget. How she come to that we will never no. Just because we chose to wait on culture on urine for 5 days. Her awfull attitude was I. Her voice and her face. She behaved strangely also.
She then took my dog bk in to refit a catheter. She told me to go out door to the rear from the room. She would not let me walk to other door with Tilly.
I got my dog lunchtime no catheter and barely able to stand up and not coherent. I wil never forget that picture.
My daughter asked why. And I asked why she not have sedation. The vet and nurses kept saying she had no medication. So we asked how she has come to ge in this state. and why did you proceed to try fit a catheter again with no sedation and then tried to empty her bladder with a needle again with no sedation. These things will haunt me. Such an angel dog all her life had to leave this world having been treated that way. We had paid all that was asked on her first admittance. I only found out on that day no scan. We was not even Asked about a scan. We was told no masses In Her and her bloods are clear. Also ultra sounds clear. So we was relieved. We did not expect her to come out the back of the vets being held up by her lead by a nurse. She was leaning against the nurses legs not able to stand. She was not treated with any respect at all. It was disgusting and extremely upsetting.
I took her to another vets. Who was going to try fit catheter but with sedation. But I declined due to giving her further upset.
The vet at millennium also told me and my daughter she tried the catheter as said the tube came out with tissue on it. She also said she tested it and found cancer cells. Absolute rubbish confirmed by another vet as said she could not of done that as any tissue would need to be sent aware for these kind of tests. She told us lies. I would like to add, my dog was barely alive when given to us at the back of premises. Her eyes were not right she looked very traumatised. No response to us. I did not leave her at this vets like that. I only just got her to my older daughter in my car for her to say goodbye it was horrendous. And then took her to another vets where she was put to sleep. The vet who did this at Millenium practice wanted her back at 7pm to put her to sleep. Never was I taking her back there for her to be put to sleep. Tilly never made it anywhere near 7pm.
It was horrific and saying goodbye to our dog in a good way was taken away from us and her. However another vet at a Witham practice made it as nice as they could. Given the situation. I can not at this time get the pictures of my dog from me. So very upsetting.
Our Dog died due to being left from Saturday to Tuesday with a full bladder. And the particular vet never acted on the Monday morning. Instead she did not care less and sent Tilly away. This vet then tried to fit a catheter on Tuesday morning with no sedation. Due to the incompetence and negligence of a very rude vet at the Millenium way surgery in Braintree. Who also spoke to us like dirt and with attitude.
All I can say is look at the rationals of the vets on the site.
I want a full and thorough investigation and answers, Not just a chat about Tilly case.
The vet in question needs to answer questions of her actions and should be accountable. For her actions and negligence on those two days Monday and Tuesday.
Overpriced consultation fees and huge mark ups on meds!
Took my dog in for an issue with his paw. I saw a consultant and was given anti biotics and told to return in 10 days for a check up. Total cost £116.00. When I returned I was told that the infection hadnt 100% cleared up and to increase the antibiotics. I was then charger a further £173.00. When queried they charged another £59 for a consultation. Yet I had been in the room under 5 mins! Also charged £114 for more antibiotics. When I checked online I could buy the same antibiotics if I had a prescription for £75.00!
I understand vets need to make a profit but these spirally costs are way out of control and greed seems to be creeping in. I was advised to go back in another 10 days and no doubt will be charged another £59 for a consultation just to tell me his paw has now healed!
Its a disgrace and puts me off owning another pet in the future.

Fantastic staff
Both vets were absolutely fantastic. The reception staff are absolute stars. Yesterday afternoon Sharon on reception went above and beyond her job to help me. First she wrote down reminder dates to book booster jabs and the six month health checks for Hugo and Milly Mae. On leaving Sharon then very kindly of her own volition carried Milly Mae in her carrier to my car. Being a Bengal cat, the Vet who used to be owned by a couple of Bengals herself was absolutely outstanding and was not afraid of Milly Mae who absolutely does not like vet visits and made her distaste known. The Vet was not put off and I was left in awe of her.

Totally unprofessional.
Due to their inability to diagnose correctly in thefirst instance, our insurance company refused to pay out.
Now we have the impossibility of raising almost £3000 or have our dog put to sleep.
This vet should get shut down and banned.
Disgraceful.
Furbaby's Euthanasia made easier
Yesterday we had the heartbreaking experience of having one of our dogs euthanized.
Throughput the whole process from booking with a receptionist to the final moments with our furbaby we were guided, supported and looked after by every single member of staff involved with our family. Our pet was treated with the utmost dignity, as were we.

My cat who had escaped was bought to this vets to be scanned, they only checked one database and then returned her to the street, their response was ‘they can’t keep every cat’ they didn’t even advertise her despite advertising numerous others. I have photo evidence of a safety ping sent to my phone indicating they had looked up the cat on pet log and then did nothing else. She’s registered on another database.
Simply excellent - Braintree
Excellent customer service at the Braintree practice. I travelled from Leicester for my dog to be treated for a chemotherapy treatment. The receptionist team was super kind to me over the phone and Stefaan went above and beyond to get my dog booked and treated despite not being our local vets. I couldn't fault the service and their professionalism. I will be using them again when needed. I wish I lived local to them. Absolutely fantastic.100% recommend.

Pet seen very quickly, by nurse within 10 mins of arrival, (triage?) and vet 10 mins later.
Excellent - as you want your pet dealt with asap and this was not a booked consultation as abscess had erupted unexpectedly and service was first rate.

Really great experience
Really great experience, I called up late morning and was given an appointment for a few hours later. There was a potential my puppy was contagious so they asked me to go round the back, I was met at the door and went straight into the consulting room. The vet was very thorough and friendly and put my mind at ease. We got medication and I was back out the door without risking contact with any other animals. Very happy 😃

This is a great practice
This is a great practice, with very high levels of service. All staff are very competent and friendly. We changed vets as we moved 40 mins away. It took one incident for us to come back to Millennium. The journey is well worth the care you receive.
