McGimpsey Brothers Removals Limited Anmeldelser

Very helpful - would recommend them

Amazing, professional and overall a seemless move. From the consultant Jordan to the movers and deliverers I would highly recommend this company.

They 4 guys that delivered my belongings in Dublin were very helpful, respectful, friendly, professional and quick. It was a horrible day, raining heavy constantly but all my furniture was protected in plastic so it was all dry and undamaged. The guys put covers on my carpet so as not to wet or dirty it. Great job, thank you

I recently completed a complicated move from England to Northern Ireland. Someone recommended McGimpsey Removals to me and choosing them was one of the best decisions I've ever made. They managed the complicated logistics brilliantly, and the teams who did the packing/loading/delivery were outstanding. Everything ran to time and everything arrived as planned and without damage. If you're planning a move I highly recommend this company, great people, great company and totally reliable.

We arranged for McGimpsey Removals to deliver an antique wardrobe and bookcase from our antique warehouse in Scotland to an existing client in Northern Ireland, who had been happy with her previous purchases of antiques from us. Both items were fully traditionally restored and sold online from multiple professional photographs on our website and were in excellent condition for antiques that are over 100 years old. On collection their driver asked a secretary in an office (rather than our porters staff who carried out the two items, or myself) to sign a collection document that had ticks in boxes indicating damage (marks, scratches and chips) to both items. I was actually present when they were loaded and both were in excellent condition, as described on on our web-page.
On delivery, a 20cm piece of the cornice was broken off and lying inside the wardrobe, a foot was badly damaged and multiple deep gouges, scratches and French polish damage were present on the doors, cornice and sides. The doors were closed with adhesive tape directly on the French polish! The client quite rightly would not accept the badly damaged wardrobe.
The McGimpsey staff told our customer that they could not find the shelves of the bookcase and so she refused to accept it also. McGimpsey staff later contacted her to say they had found them - they were present in the bookcase all along. However, she was upset by the damage to the wardrobe and the poor transport service that she refused to accept the bookcase also.

McGimpsey Removals stated that these extensive damages were present when they uplifted them from our warehouse – although they have a separate damage category for broken (BR) and dented (D) which the wardrobe was – that had not been ticked on collection. Having extensively damaged our wardrobe, we had to pay them for transport of the wardrobe to Northern Ireland (£564) and then we had to pay (£468) for cabinetmaking repairs and French polishing to repair the wardrobe, that was devalued by the repaired damage.

To think that we would send a broken, gouged and scratched wardrobe overseas knowing that under the sales of good act and we being members of the main antique trade body LAPADA (London and Provincial Antique Dealers Association) that a refund would be immediately due is beyond belief.

It is interesting that the collection document also indicated that the bookcase was damaged on collection (marks, scratches and chips)–However, it was perfect when it left us and when they delivered it back.

Do not sign any documents this firm asks you to on collection, because if they damage your goods – they will have a document showing that the goods were already damaged on collection. This is a totally untrustworthy transport firm and the worst transporters we have used in 45 years of business.

We raised an action against them in the small claims court in Edinburgh Sheriff Court for our losses.
Unfortunately McGimpsey's terms and conditions only allow claims to be made against them in Northern Ireland and so at a hearing on 24th April 2025 Sheriff Gill of the Small Claims Court in Edinburgh could not proceed with the case.
It is interesting that another of their terms and conditions is that their maximum payment for any damage is £40.00!
The repairs and transport of our damaged wardrobe were £1032.00 as well as loss of a £2770 sale to an existing customer who we have now lost and also damage to our reputation.

Professional, knowledgeable, and friendly service. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. McGimpseys have great experience in this field and it shows all the way through from the initial reviews, the planning, the quality and friendliness of their operatives, and the final delivery. It was very welcome when involved in a stressful house move.

Very professional approach from start to finish which made my move from Geneva to UK so much easier. The care to detail in protecting my furniture being a particular welcome approach.
The Head of Department for Overseas and Europe Catriona Mann controlled everything from start to finish in a very professional and friendly approach which reassured me at all times.

Booked through a management service and the team were quick, safe, and very friendly throughout the time of pickup from Dublin to delivery in England. Thank you again!

Extraordinarily efficient and hard-working. Would recommend 100%

David was great to work with. He was quick to quote and accommodating when it came to move dates. Bent over backwards to make it happen.
Reasonable price and lads were super professional and quick. Exceeded expectations every step! Highly recommend.

The services provided by both the ground and office staff is phenomenal. They are very kind, very respectful, compassionate, very responsible and also listen to you.

The company is simply the best in the field. This is my second time availing of their services and it's better than the first time.

Do not hesitate to contact the business for your moving needs. They surpassed my expectations and would use them again and again.

God bless you all..wishing you the best of success in all your endeavours both staff and the business.

Exceptionally good, from start to finish, excellent communication, punctual, friendly and professional service - highly recommend.

The McGimpsey team were exceptional. Pre planning was handled carefully and the team on move day were just outstanding. Happy, positive, courteous, efficient, and ready and willing to tackle any obstacle. I cannot praise them enough.
McGimpsey's would be my number one recommendation

Everything!! All the staff we dealt with were very professional, kind & very helpful.I would recommend McGimpseys without hesitation.

McGimpsey Removals were excellent! We recently moved from Leeds to Belfast and the move was completed seamlessly, regular updates, guidance, advice and very easy on moving and collection day. Would highly recommend for any fellow movers across the Irish Sea!

Our experience using McGimpsey Brothers for our house move was outstandingly good. Every person that we dealt with was very helpful, knowledgeable, professional and courteous. I highly recommend using McGimpsey Brothers to anyone considering moving house.

Flawless service! Quick response to quote requests and really clear about pricing. Given me great confidence to use them again and there is no reason for me to go elsewhere. The best service is just doing the basics exceptionally well. Very grateful and thanks again!

Fantastic service moving within Northern Ireland. Although we probably could have got a cheaper quote from ‘a man with a van’ using a professional services company gave us peace of mind. Excellent crew, timely, efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend. I am using them again in a few days to transport some sofas from Wales, if the crew is as good as these ones I shall be very happy!

It was the best experience to hire McGimpsey Brothers for the shipping of my 1939 KSS Velocette, and ten boxes of classic motorcycle spares, from England to Northern Ireland. I would Highly recommend McGimpsey Brothers to anybody that needs similar services. Their communication was excellent, my bike and parts was shipped with the Best Care, as promised on time.
Their staff are 100% helpful and professional, they even repacked spare parts into better boxes before loading. I was working when my bike and parts arrived, the McGimpsey Brothers staff placed all the spare part boxes neatly in the shed and left the motorcycle on it main stand, others usually leave all at the door. Excellent professional people who care about delivering the best service they can. In twenty years of shipping motorcycles from the UK to Ireland this is the best I I have seen, and it was cheaper than the one man in a van I normally use.
Thank you again,
Best Regards,
Peter T

Very friendly staff all round, easy to speak to on the phone if you're uncertain of anything, very communicative, and highly professional in what they do
