Careful if you have young student kids down in the universities there, they will use coercive sales to take advantage of them. Simple nail in tire, they require we buy 2 new tires or leave with nail in tire.The advisor Mike tells me that it fails NY state inspection. I am a NY state inspector and 2 mm is the minimum pass, not fail. Then he tells me, well he is not a NYS inspector and they do not have one there. Manager Devon gets on phone apologizes for the crazy times. He insists as well we buy the 2 tires or leave without patching tire. My daughter picks up car and they will not give any invoice, once again the law states if they take possession of the vehicle, and are a registered repair shop they must give the consumer an invoice stating what they recommended or repaired. I call and they tell me that because they did not charge for the tire inspection, although they did put vehicle on lift, they do not have to give us an invoice. Just completely shady. They will give me a copy if i drive down 300 miles after I point out it is unlawful. Why give something only to me? I didn't bring the car in or sign anything. It was my daughter. These are things you see on 60 minutes. The hidden camera mystery shop vehicle. I am the wrong person, I been in the auto business 38 yrs, this is all I know. I seen these tactics before, if someone will not give you anything in writing that is always a red flag. When they use "It will not pass NYS inspection and is unsafe to drive". But unwilling to document that in writing. Stay far away. Devon finally hung up on me when i told him i would file a complaint with DMV and Mavis. He said good, he didn't care. Great!

I drove 30 miles to go to this location because of the professionalism of the manager Steve. He used to be at a location 1/2 mile from my home. I was sick when he left, but no problem following him to another facility. Kudos to a quality employee!!!

I found the customer service with Steve needs major improvement for a manager. He needs to have better people skills
MJ I found didn’t talk nice about people behind their back. Make fun of things also, too immature to be working there. they tried to I needed new struts, etc. that I did not need would be nice to have a place you can go to. That’s honest and trustworthy.

They changed my oil and they poured it all over my alternator in my car. So now my alternator don’t work my car died in the middle of the road had to bring it to the dealership to get fixed and it’s a brand new car only eight months old the dealership wouldn’t guarantee the warranty because Mavis workers at the Centereach store in New York poured oil all over my alternator so now I have to pay $1500 because Mavis won’t reimburse me for the mistake

John the Mgr at Centereach location is a complete gentlemen. I've been going to Mavis for years ! Very reasonable prices and a neighborhood atmosphere ! Larry, his assistant is very attentive as well.Even when people i hear, in front of me or behind me, can't get their way!! They are very respectful,and give all options available too the customer . Some people just want their way all the time ! But John and Larry keep their cool and still wish them a good day with kindness and value ! Ill always go to Mavis with these type of Mgr's who really do the best they can ! You can see it if " YOU PAY ATTENTION" ! Its the little things that really matter like kindness, and lately its hard to find ! Charles Sciria - Loyal customer !

I've reviewed this location before, and that one was positive also. John, the manager, was friendly and knowledgeable and knew I loved my car and wanted to make sure it was treated with kid gloves, it was, He drove it into the shop personally and did the work quickly and carefully. Can't say enough good things. As I said last time, they have never tried to sell me anything that I didn't need. Thank you John
