Certainly worthy of any guitarists attention, whether they may be a novice or have decades of experience.
Very good explanations. Very clear and easy to understand. Based on science. Recommended.
Matt is a wonderful teacher. He keeps things simple yet thorough enough. My playing and technique have improved significantly, and I am sure I will keep on going back to Matt's lessons from time to time.
In addition to the material covered in his website, I also enrolled for a couple of Zoom lessons with Matt. I highly recommend him.
Thank you very much, Matt!
This may be the best course on improving your guitar technique I've ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. I'm pretty cynical when it comes to the state of guitar education. Most courses are full of exercises and licks and very little in the way of specifics of playing beyond where to put your finger and what direction to pick.
Matt has simply gone above and beyond everything I've seen. I had no idea of the many factors and things to practice that he's now made me aware of. Seriously. I own hundreds of books on music, buy courses regularly, and am always browsing YouTube for ways to improve. Very few touch on the things Matt reveals in Perfect Picking.
The videos are professionally made, have clear views of his hands and pick, and he takes time to explain all the factors and movements you'll be improving. It's not overbearing and it's not quickly glossed over.
I give this course the highest recommendation possible, obviously. Be aware he doesn't go over theory or help you learn the vocabulary of a certain style though. This is strictly a course on improving your picking technique.
Congratulations. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably searched long and hard for a way to build real speed and precision with your picking. Like many guitarists, you may have tried countless exercises, watched endless videos, and experimented with different techniques hoping something would finally “click.” The good news is that you’ve likely found the right place. Matt's Perfect Picking Guitar Course is one of the few courses that genuinely delivers a clear path to articulate, controlled speed picking.
What immediately stands out about this course is its focus on precision and articulation. Rather than encouraging you to simply play faster and hope accuracy catches up later, Matt focuses on developing the mechanics that make speed possible in the first place. The lessons carefully guide you through how to build clean, controlled picking motion so that speed becomes a natural result of efficiency and control.
The course is specifically designed around precise picking with clear articulation, and it thoroughly explains how to develop speed without sacrificing clarity. Each concept builds on the previous one, helping you develop the kind of picking accuracy that most guitarists spend years trying to achieve through random practice routines.
In a world where many instructors constantly promise the next “breakthrough technique,” only to tell you to practice more speed bursts or play faster repetitions, it’s refreshing to encounter a course built on real mechanics and practical understanding. Perfect Picking isn’t about gimmicks or quick tricks. It’s about understanding what actually makes fast, clean picking possible and giving you a structured way to develop it.
For players who have struggled to get their picking under control, this course can feel like a missing piece of the puzzle. Instead of vague advice, you get a clear framework for building the kind of precision that allows speed to develop naturally.
Quite simply, there are very few places where you can learn true precision speed picking in a structured and practical way. Matt's Perfect Picking Guitar Course stands among those rare resources that genuinely help players bridge the gap between slow, careful playing and fast, articulate picking.
If your goal is clean, controlled, and articulate speed picking, this course is absolutely worth your time.
More than a course, this is a system backed by a lot of research and insight. It covers everything, from basic things like holding the guitar to the nitty gritty of right hand technique. The course helped me get on the right track and improve my musicianship beyond just speed, which will come as I now have the tools and a reliable framework to build upon. Matt is also very accesible and I am very grateful to him!

Scientifically and research based, thorough, step by step workshop that isolates every little aspect of your picking technique. Recommended - not only for building speed - many good pointers here to help you play smoother, with more ease and less unnecessary muscle tension.
I've been trying to learn shred guitar for several years now, and Matt's course is hands down where I'd recommend anyone start.
The work Matt has done on the neurology of fast playing is second to none. If you're wanting to get your speed picking up to snuff, this program will do the trick.
The sequencing of the lessons coupled with the specific practice plan is perfect for those of us starting later in life. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, but was late to the game with shred and this course has gotten me up to speed so quickly.
I recommend getting the lesson package -- the individual time with Matt will make sure that you get the most out of this investment. Dollar for dollar, this course is one of the most well priced. Even if you feel the need to investigate other courses after this, Perfect Picking will give you a foundation that no other course offers.
Well thought through and well explained- lots of good exercises/videos and technical analysis/suggestions. No shortcuts or gimmicks here- just sound advice on how to improve your technique.
Scientific approach as opposed to just figure out what works. As a physician I appreciate the time spent researching the neuroscience. Picking speed is gradually progressing using the principles presented.
Matt is an amazing musician! He knows what he’s telling/learning to his students! This man is full of knowledge! It’s enjoyable to watch his videos! And yeah! No stupid promises! If you follow his tips and “tricks” you will be definitely better! I follow Matt now for about 2 years now! And he is very responsive! Very good ideas! Takes you through all the topics! A must go to for learning it from a person who knows what he’s doing and telling! So Matt keep doing what you do! You’re my go to teacher!! Thanks /kingdomofhydra
Matt created a very detailed, in-depth, research-based course, which gives you all the theoretical background, and a routine to follow to achieve the best possible results. The more time you invest in this practicing method, the better the results you'll get (obviously).
But unlike many other courses, which just sell you "this is how I play, no idea why, it just works for me", this course first dives in the mechanics of picking, a bit of how brain and habits work, the physics of the instrument (like string crossing, pick travel, etc.), and based on all these observations and facts forms a practice routine which is guaranteed to improve your picking.
Matt Wright's platform has very high quality guitar technique courses that have measurably improved my playing.
It is one of the best guitar courses that I have purchased. I would recommend to anyone who wants to improve his picking technique.
Mainly, It is a blueprint on how to improve your picking mechanics and technique, step by step and on multiple aspects. Also, the exercices and routines are very customizable to your needs.
I like that also explains other topics, like the process of learning by practice, speed strategies or being relaxed on playing. Also, there is a community group where you can ask doubts to Mark or share anything with the other members.
When I started, months ago I was stuck around 120 BPMs on sixteenth notes on multiple strings. Now, I am around 150 BPMs.
Thanks to Matt sharing his knowledge on this course. Really, It is worth his prize.
Matt is an amazing musician and instructor. His intricate attention to the detail of picking is indeed perfect. There is enough material there for me to hone my picking practice for years. Thank you Matt, for the fun and challenging picking experience.
This is a great program, well presented and organized. It covers lots of ground and it is very detailed about the topic. It provides very good value for your money.
