**Hey everyone, I’d like to share something from the heart.**

If you had the opportunity to truly improve your mindset when it comes to mixing—would you take it?

Speaking from experience, I used to think my mixes were solid. I’ve always loved blending records, creating mashups, and putting together my own versions of songs. I started out on a 4-track Tascam tape recorder, bouncing tracks just to get more layers. Those were the days! But I’ll admit, some of those mixes came out pretty muddy.

Back then, my ultimate test was simple: I’d mix everything down, pop the tape into my car stereo, and listen. That was my reference system—the car told me the truth. Even after moving to a Roland BR-8, the “car test” was still my go-to.

Eventually, I stepped into the digital world with Pro Tools and upgraded to proper studio monitors. My mixes got better, but sometimes they still sounded off. It took years to realize that layering too many sounds was eating up important frequencies—sometimes improving the vibe, other times completely changing it for the worse.

I don’t remember exactly how I came across **Mastering.com**, but I do remember seeing a remix contest—and since I’m always on the hunt for acapellas, I signed up. All I can say is *wow.*

The sessions were absolutely life-changing. Everyone was working in Logic Pro while I was still building remixes on my Akai MPC, recording them live through Serato, and cleaning things up with iZotope RX. That was my process! But through the course, I discovered new ways to refine my sound. The ability to adjust stems and truly understand the art of mixing opened my eyes—and ears—in ways I never expected.

To this day, I keep learning through Mastering.com’s newsletters and videos. The growth never stops.

Going into this as an instrumentalist with very little experience mixing, mastering, or even in a DAW in general TRE helped me fill in many gaps that were keeping me stuck. My Experience with Mastering.com has been nothing short of phenomenal ! The Mentors are very knowledgable and hands on every step of the way. I started a year ago as a beginner not knowing much beyond a basic understanding of certain audio principles. The program is very well designed, and allows you to work through the modules at your own pace. I'm now able to mix and master a song from start to finish! The instruction is very in depth, and covers everything one needs to know to be able to do this at a professional level . There is also a very large community of students who are very engaging and willing to help along the way. If you're thinking about mixing or mastering this is definitely where you want to start. The long and short of what I'm saying is that theres a lot to learn here and they're a great bunch of people willing to share their knowledge. Trust me you can't go wrong!!!

Before I had even heard of Mastering.com, I was a musician, primarily a drummer, and also a basic/intermediate keyboard player. I always had an interest in recording, and some early midi sequencing experience. I played in several bands over the years and had a habit of recording rehearsals.

At some point I purchased a Zoom H4 field recorder, which allowed for a better quality of recording. It also contained a Limited edition of Cubase 4.0 which I began to use to augment my salvaging of the band rehearsals. As time went by my proficiency increased, until I began using Full Pro-level Versions of Cubase, upgraded my PC and Interface, to pro-levels. This also took me to the next phase of self-education; Books, online videos, tips, tricks, mixed with a great deal of trial and error on my part.

About this time I was starting to record bands live in my loft space. I quickly discovered how a mix that seemed to sound good in the studio sounded absolutely horrible when played back in a car. It was hard to even perceive bass in the studio, but in the car all I could really hear was bass ! I was stuck in a major way.

While this was unfolding, I began to receive ads from Mastering.com and learned of their educational approach. Their TRE (The Reverse Engineer) program seemed a good fit. I knew this type of instruction would fill the gaps in my self-taught approach. The fact that the mentors were very accessible was a major point.

Once I began TRE, I found myself in a mastering course of all things, which fortunately for me began with a course called "Acoustic Truth". A few unexpected weeks there with a great mentor, actually guided me into a place where I learned more than I ever expected about room acoustics, panels, measurement techniques, & room correction. They even provided another option, based on headphones, that allowed me to be able to switch between corrected headphones, and my monitors as desired. This way I could continue with incrementally improving my room, but still move forward with headphones for my continuing education. And the issues with mixes...? GONE!

The program is exactly what I was looking for after years of getting stuck with audio engineering. Before the TRE program, I had no idea what I was doing wrong and I felt like I would never fully understand how to achieve professional sound. It was extremely frustrating. If you are serious and committed to honing in your skills, this program will guide you to understanding what it takes to achieve professional sound. They lay out such a great roadmap and provide excellent support to help you with whatever you may be struggling with. I am halfway through the program and can confidently say that I hear music at such a more detailed level and can spot and solve problems quickly that used to frustrate me for hours.

I joined the TRE program about a year ago. I had been watching some of their free content on youtube, and was in need of a thorough approach to be able to produce, mix, and master at a professional level. I've been a composer for 20+ years, but always (and in error) avoided fully embracing the technological side of the job. A year later and countless holes in my understanding of the craft of mixing and mastering have been filled, and better yet, my ability to do the the work is vastly improved, far beyond my expectations. I'm sort of embarrassed by how many fundamental tools (esp frequency and EQ) I didn't really have strong grip on; not like I do now. The crew of teachers, and the community that comes along with, make it easy to learn and grow, and offer plenty of support through group calls. I think my favorite thing so far, and it hasn't been that long, is how it's not a static operation. It changes, adapts to student needs, to what's working and what isn't. Instead of pretending like they've got all the answers and everything figured out, they approach it as a journey, along side us, perhaps a bit further on down the road. It's a solid approach, though like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it.

I’ve been a pro composer/producer for many years but was never fully happy with my mixes. After starting TRE a year ago the quality of my mixes has sky rocketed. The curriculum is super in depth but accessible, it teaches what works, not just ‘YouTube tricks’, so now I fully understand the ‘why’ behind every move. Another thing that makes TRE so powerful are the daily mentoring and feedback sessions. Even sitting in on other people’s sessions can be great for learning. The mentors are super knowledgeable pros but also down to earth and friendly and always have something valuable to offer whether you’re a beginner or seasoned pro. Last but not least: the community. On joining I didn’t think I’d be interested in another online community but this one is special. So many friendly and helpful people with a mix of fun and generosity while sharing knowledge and helping each other out. I could go on, but honestly, this is the best thing I’ve done for my music journey in a long time. If I could give them 11 stars I would!

Best investment I ever made for myself. The community is great and the mentors are even better. I love the curriculum and have learned so much, even though I have not even made it through the first module yet.

I learnt a lot from them - they are extremely supportive, patient and inspiring. When there are issues they always try to help and aim to improve the program.

I am still in the middle of completing the course work. What I have learned from this class so far is tremendous. A leap forward in creating pro level mixes and masters of music. The instructors are great, the online course is arranged in courses lasting 30 minutes to maybe and hour. Before taking this course, I had invested a lot of money in a new, high-end PC; DAW upgrades, plug-ins, etc. But I did not know how to use it correctly. I participated in viewing an online, free, 3 day "Fix the Mix" course they offered and I was hooked. They know what they are doing. So I decided to invest in the class and I am happy I did. They have live, online events, you can submit your tracks for honest reviews, suggestions, etc. The students are a huge source of info and help also. They held a four day event in Nashville, TN at a studio and I attended. The recording studio event was awesome. It was great to meet the staff and fellow students in person. If you want to get serious about processing sound, recording, mixing, mastering, etc., you can't go wrong signing up for this course.

The amount of attention to detail on the course plus the personalized help they give students is amazing! Its been almost two years since I enrolled and couldn't been happier!

The staff and support at Mastering.com has been tremendously helpful. The program is set up in such a way that if you just exercise patience and follow it like it's laid out, then you'll flow right along. I tried for years to "figure it out" with regards to utilizing digital tools with a home studio to no avail. The mastering.com step by step process is gold! I highly recommend this program for anyone wanting to learn music mastering, mixing and production.

This is one of the best programs of its kind. Well organized, very thoughtful. It builds your skills from the ground up. I am a Berklee graduate and have great skills in songwriting and creating demos. But this has taken me to a new level. You can work at your own pace. Lots of resources, a great community to bounce ideas. I don't think I could ask for more

I am an older retired musician with a passion for recording music, both originals and covers. I have never been 100% satisfied with my mixes and decided to try the Vocal Intensive program. I thought the online video lessons were fantastic. The instructors were great and the daily Zoom Mentor calls were awesome. Not only did I learn about recording and producing vocals, but I was able to apply much of the instruction to my full mixes resulting in recordings that have exceeded my expectations. Having a professional engineer listen to your mix and be able to adjust and tweak it online is amazing. They showed me things that honestly I never paid attention to previously. The changes made a world of difference to the quality of the song, vocals and instrumentation. You get what you put into this class. If you are not willing to do the homework and have it reviewed, save your money and stay as you are. This is the best money I have ever spent for my recording journey! I will now be enrolling in the Production Intensive Plan. Can't wait

I've been in The Reverse Engineer program at Mastering.com for a little over a year now. I've been very blown away by this program and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to take their music production skills to the next level. The online coursework is very well laid out - they take you through room treatment and correction, ear training, mastering, mixing, and recording all in a very logical, easy to understand way. I think what makes Mastering.com stand out though is the community and mentorship. They are constantly doing events to hone their skills, have mentorship calls multiple times a week, a great group of community members, and feedback calls where you can bring in your music to help you course correct/make improvements. You can tell everyone is very genuinely there to help each other and make great music.

Paid £600 plus to attend a course online. There was a weekly live class and the tutor was fine. However the admin was dreadful and I still haven’t received a certificate for attending.
