Simply the worst? You decide
The test of any company is not what they do when things go well but how they respond when things go wrong. In this review, I’ll state the bare facts and you can make up your own mind about Magneteyes.
On 2nd December 2023, I placed an order for a pair of Teyes London Readers. In the time promised by Magneteyes, the glasses arrived. However, one of the lenses was badly wrong. I contacted the company and when they looked at the data they could see what had gone wrong. I was suitably reassured that the next pair would be fine. I should point out that Specsavers, who did my eye test, made up a pair of bog-standard reading glasses and there was no problem with them, so it wasn’t anything to do with the prescription.
On 29th January, the new pair of London Readers arrived – and the other lens was now wrong. I got in touch and a representative called and asked me to post the lenses back. I did so and the package was signed-for as received on 31st January. After that, it all went very quiet.
Finally, after numerous messages wondering where my new lenses were, sent (as before) on the company’s contact form, repeated messages left on voicemail and two letters, I heard back on 10th May from the someone in Customer Services. They told me that I had signed for the lenses on 29th January. Yes, I know I did – THIS WAS THE SECOND SET OF INCORRECT LENSES THAT I SENT BACK THE NEXT DAY! At this point, I asked for a refund.
So, to recap, I paid for a pair of glasses on 2nd December 2023; it is now 2nd July 2024, seven months after I paid for them, and I don’t have the glasses. Six weeks ago, someone did get in touch and promised me a refund that should take ‘3 to 5 days’ and a new pair of glasses. Thus far, neither have turned up. If they ever do, I’ll happily update this review. But, for very obvious reasons, I’m not holding my breath. You may well have a better experience with the company. It certainly couldn’t be much worse than mine. Could it? Good luck.
