LTL Language School 

This is my fourth summer studying at LTL Language School in Taipei, and each experience has been truly amazing. All of the teachers—including Sissy, Kate, Tammy Xu, Anqi and Francine, whom I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know—are incredibly dedicated and supportive, and they have helped me make great progress in my language skills. Although I don’t have many opportunities to practise during the rest of the year, I notice a clear improvement every time I return to LTL. It’s a wonderful place to learn, grow, and stay motivated!

The class levels are well organised and I always felt well in my group. If your own language level doesn’t match that of the class, you can easily switch to a different level.

The admin staff – Sunny, Riona and Alin – are very friendly and help with every little thing. This starts right from the preparation for the summer course.

The social events are brilliant and give you the chance to get to know both Taiwanese culture and the other students better.

Would I recommend the LTL School? ABSOLUTELY...

Before coming to study at LTL, as a heritage speaker I could have simple conversations, but could hardly read/write. I chose LTL because of the opportunities for intensive classes and activities to interact with other students and natives. I only studied here for 3 weeks, but I think my Vietnamese has improved immensely, giving me the foundation to continue my studies back home. I am deeply appreciative of my teacher, John, who challenged and pushed me. My class was exclusively in Vietnamese and that helped greatly with immersion. I recommend LTL to anyone coming to Saigon to study Vietnamese!

I studied at LTL Language School Osaka for 3 weeks from July-mid August 2026 and had an unforgettable time, it exceeded my expectations immensely. I opted in for the half-board Homestay accommodation alongside my lesson plan, which was a great choice and my speaking ability improved so much from daily interactions with the host family. My objective was to improve my reading and writing skills on Hiragana and Katakana and learn some Kanji, while mainly focusing on improving my speaking ability and confidence. The lesson structure was flexible to accommodate my needs and I had lessons with 6 different teachers and I genuinely enjoyed every lesson! The teachers are relaxed and authentic in their approach to getting to know you as a student and understanding your requirements, and there were many times when I was talking to them about shared experiences so comfortably that I forgot I was actually speaking Japanese with them! I was given the Tobira Intermediate textbook on arrival, which definitely challenged me. I also had multiple Kanji tests to assess my progress; which in turn made me motivated to work hard and study Kanji, the area I'm weakest in. The school director Hiyori-San works hard to organise multiple socials every week for the students to get to know eachother, and I've made some great friends through this experience. Special mention to my senseitachi Hiroko Nishioka-San, who taught me multiple times and was very kind and instructive! Also to Junichi Seukane-San, with whom I had fun discussing Japanese Philosophy and Religion, and Naomi Miyai-San, who taught me on my very last day but left a lasting impression on me. The lessons were so much more than Japanese grammar and language, and I was able to have many interesting conversations about Japanese society and culture with all of them. I am overjoyed to have graduated with a B1 qualification, and I'm more motivated than ever to keep learning Japanese. I definitely recommend LTL Osaka to anyone looking for a Japanese language school. Thank you for the excellent service!

I was a student here for four weeks, and signed up for group classes. However, they didn’t have other students at my skill level entering at the same time, so they converted my classes into two hours of private tutoring, a compromise I was more than satisfied with. I found my teacher, Juan Tang, to be knowledgeable, kind, and overachieving in teaching. She brought games, changed her curriculum to suit my needs, and answered questions outside of school hours. Besides that, she was kind, enthusiastic, and very encouraging, even going so far as to give me a gift in our final lesson! Besides the teaching, the location is excellent, the admin organized, and the community warm. The students are varied and international, with weekly, always changing activities.

I was at LTL Chengdu for a total of 3 weeks and i had a wonderful time there. The school itself is located in the city centre which is very convenient for exploring Chengdu itself. Chengdu as a city is really fun and cool, i would recommend it anytime! Miss Ying helped me out beforehand via video call about any questions i had, which really helped me feel secure before my arrival. The staff/teachers are all very nice and supportive. There are not only older teachers, but also really young ones, like mine. My teacher Stiles helped me out many times, like buying mosquito medicine, my future and any other questions that i had about China (travel, taobao). The lessons were so fun and i learned tons, she is a amazing teacher and works so much on how to explain each student the sometimes at first challenging topics. I didn’t get to experience teacher panpan‘s lessons but from what i heard, she is great aswell. She is just like my teacher (young and) really nice! We (stiles,panpan) went out for dancing lessons and alot of other cool things. Not just the staff is welcoming but also all the other students! We all did so much cool stuff, like a spa day, club, museums, ktv… and so much more! My homestay was also so lovely, Monica, her sister Rachel and her friend that i got to meet..all were so sweet! They helped me out many times, like for ordering packages, being stuck in the subway station or being locked outside the apartment..I am so grateful to them. I will miss Chengdu alot, the delicious food, cheap online ordering and the amazing people i got to meet. I recommend LTL Chengdu for everyone that wants to explore sichuan, have amazing teachers + a amazing homestay and see cute pandas everywhere! ❤️ 谢谢呀

I had an amazing overall experience at LTL Beihai. My daughter and I took classes for two weeks. Our teacher, Heather, had great teaching skills, and made the class fun and enjoyable. The school director, Savannah, made all the arrangements for our home stay and meals. We were taken care of as if we were family! Hope to return to Beihai in the near future and continue learning at LTL. Heather and Savannah are kind, helpful, and responsible individuals! They deserve much continued success!

Absolutely recommendable!
I went to the Beihai school, wth a friend of mine, for a week and I really enjoyed it.
Although it was only one week i improved my Chinese listening and speaking a lot.
Our teacher Heather is amazing, she is a good listener and a very good communicator.
The atmosphere was very relaxed, I loved every minute of our classes.
Because it was only one week we decided mainly to do conversation and writing down new words which were used during our interactions, 3 hours a day.
The remaining hour we would do some reading and translation.
I was such a good experience that will do it again, but next time for a longer period of time.
Everyone I met at the school is very nice.
In the week I was there we had lunch together with everyone and had coffee in a beautiful coffeeshop.

Hoping to visit the LTL school again, next time for a few weeks.

I honestly thought that taking extra language classes after my regular school day was going to be the most boring thing in the entire world, but studying Vietnamese at LTL Language School in Saigon turned out to be the absolute highlight of my week. When my parents first signed me up, I was picturing a super strict classroom where I would have to stare at a giant textbook and repeat grammar rules until my brain turned to mush. But it was nothing like that at all!
My teacher was this really cool, energetic girl who instantly made the classroom feel like a fun hangout spot instead of a boring school. I was super nervous on the first day because Vietnamese sounds really hard with all the different tones, and I was terrified of sounding silly when I tried speaking. But the second she walked in, she just had this super bubbly and hilarious personality that made me actually want to pay attention. She realized right away that sitting still and just reading pages wasn't going to work for me, so she completely changed the way I learned. The whole process was so interactive and packed with so many activities that I usually forgot I was even studying. Instead of giving me long, boring lists of words to memorize, she used the most amazing flashcards to make everything stick in my head. She would bring in these huge stacks of colorful flashcards and we would all make our own flashcards as well.
Every time we had to learn a new word, there was a cute or funny drawing to go with it. Because I am a very visual person, seeing the pictures right next to the words helped me memorize them so much faster. I never had to go home and stare at a boring vocabulary list because I could just close my eyes and remember the funny cartoon on the flashcard. She even let me make my own flashcards sometimes, and I would doodle my own little pictures on blank cards with colorful markers. She totally encouraged it and would help me come up with silly ways to draw the new vocabulary words. It made learning the words feel way more like working on a fun art project than actually doing homework. She was always coming up with creative mini-games to make the learning process feel super exciting. We played so many different mini-games that the time always just flew by. One of my favorites was saying a word at the same time as the other, if got different answers we have to make sentence with it. I had to shout the word out loud with the perfect tone to keep the points and to make sure the other said the same thing. Sometimes we played memory games where she would say a word and the rest has to repeat and add more words after, we eventually forget most of them at the end because there were too many , but it was good for the brain to memorize them this way.something using only the Vietnamese words I had already learned. We even played mini-games to help me get the hang of the crazy tones. She made learning fun ! We were constantly laughing, and she never made me feel bad if I forgot a word or messed up a sentence during a game. If I got something wrong, we would just giggle about it, and she would shuffle the flashcards and let me try again. Because of all these fun methods and mini-games, my brain just absorbed the vocabulary so naturally. I actually know how to speak quite a bit of Vietnamese now, and I can confidently order my own drinks or buy my own snacks at the convenience store near my apartment. The whole learning process at LTL was just incredible because my teacher put so much effort into making sure I was always engaged, smiling, and actually enjoying myself. If you are my age and your parents want you to learn the language without feeling like you are trapped in summer school, I really recommend this place because you will end up having the best time while learning so much. When my parents first told me we were going to take Vietnamese lessons while traveling in Saigon, I was honestly dreading it so much. I already go to regular school all day, so the absolute last thing I wanted to do was sit in another boring classroom during my free time, memorizing weird words from a giant textbook while my friends were out having fun.
But I am writing this review because going to LTL Language School was actually the complete opposite of what I expected, and I literally ended up loving it so much! The whole vibe at the school is just really cool and not stressful at all. My teacher was a funny girl and she was seriously the best teacher I have ever had. I was super nervous on the first day because Vietnamese sounds really hard with all the different tones, and I was scared I was going to sound silly or embarrass myself. But the second she walked in, she made a random joke and created these made up characters to learn with, and I immediately knew the class was going to be fun. She just had this super bubbly and hilarious personality that made you actually want to pay attention. She didn’t treat me like a little kid, but she also didn’t make it super strict and serious like my normal school classes.
The thing I loved the absolute most was how she actually taught us the new words. Instead of just writing a super long list of vocabulary on the whiteboard and making me copy them down and read it out loud, she used all these amazing illustrations to go along with the vocabs as well. Every time we had to learn a new word, there was a cute or funny drawing to go with it. Like, when we were learning the words for different animals and food, she had these flashcards with the funniest cartoon pictures on them. There was this one illustration of a creature call zebranana that made me laugh so hard, and I still remember that the word "cá ngựa chuối" just because of that drawing! Sometimes she would even draw things on the board herself, and she would purposely make them look goofy so we would remember them better. It made learning the vocabulary feel way more like reading a comic book or playing a fun game than actually studying. I am a very visual person, so seeing the pictures right next to the words helped me memorize them so much faster. I even started doodling my own little pictures in my notebook next to my vocabulary lists, and she totally encouraged it and would even give me funny ideas for what to draw next.
She was also so, so helpful when it came to practicing speaking. Vietnamese tones are honestly really tricky, and sometimes my voice would go up when it was supposed to go down, and I would accidentally say something completely wrong. But she never ever made me feel bad about it. If I messed up, she would just laugh with me—not at me—and then we would practice saying it together slowly until I finally got it right. She would make up these funny little rhythms or hand motions to help me remember which way my voice was supposed to go, and we would just sit there repeating them and giggling. She made practicing feel like hanging out with an older sister rather than taking a test. She would also ask me about my day and my hobbies, and then teach me the words for the things I actually cared about, like my favorite food or activity or how to put those in a sentence, instead of just making me learn random words I would never actually use in real life.
By the time my course was over, I was actually really sad to leave. I can literally go to the local convenience store now and buy my own snacks, or say thank you and hello to the guards at our apartment building, and they always look so surprised and happy when I speak to them! I feel so much more confident living in Vietnam now. If you are a kid or a teenager and your parents are making you learn Vietnamese, tell them to sign you up at LTL Saigon. It is actually so much fun, the teachers are incredibly nice and funny, and you will learn so much without even feeling like you are doing homework. I had the greatest time and I really hope I get to go back and take more classes with her soon! Cảm ơn LTL và cảm ơn cô giáo !

Luna, our Chinese teacher at LTL language school in Kunming was excellent. Not only did she create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for learning, she was also very knowledgeable and well prepared. Her teaching methods were not only fun, but very effective as well. We really improved our language skills.

I went to Shanghai, Chengdu and Kunming LTL and really had a great experience in travel and language learning. All the teachers brought a vast level of experience and technique to assist in contrasting learning techniques. All were professional and really helpful.

In Shanghai, I had Kristin J and Kaka. Chengdu; Ziyin and Kunming; Teacher Helene.

The opportunity to travel while learning was an experience that I would love to repeat. Especially Kunming, where the weather is lovely and the scenery peaceful. I highly recommend the programme there, Director Savannah is very professional and values communication. The organised school gatherings are well thought out, interesting and different to usual experiences. Teacher Helene is especially helpful, she identifies any areas you need assistance and works on those areas. She really wants you to succeed in learning Chinese by understanding the culture, text and translating those into real life experiences and you can feel she is highly experienced.

Note: The cafe culture across China is different to western cultures, you can study there most of the day. This is extremely helpful to understand prior to coming to China for planned study.

​Ich hatte das große Vergnügen, an einem zweiwöchigen 1:1-Intensivkurs mit John teilzunehmen, und habe in dieser Zeit unglaublich viel gelernt. John ist ein absolut fantastischer Lehrer: geduldig, engagiert und extrem gut strukturiert. Neben der Sprache bringt er einem auch fundiertes und spannendes Hintergrundwissen über die Kultur und den Alltag in Vietnam nahe. Dank ihm habe ich sehr solide Grundkenntnisse erworben, auf denen ich nun voller Motivation weiter aufbauen werde. Ich kann die LTL Language School und insbesondere den Unterricht bei John absolut jedem wärmstens empfehlen!

Overall, I had an amazing experience with LTL’s Mandarin schools in Beihai and Kunming. Savannah, the Director of Studies for Kunming and Beihai, is prompt and consistent in her communication. Each week she organizes activities and helps students get to know each other. Even when small logistical hiccups happen (e.g. a restaurant being out a certain meal she ordered for the group), she adapts quickly and checks in to make sure you get to have input. In addition, Savannah set me up with a homestay in Beihai which was so welcoming and helped me transition to my new environment.
My teachers in Beihai and Kunming were beyond excellent. Summer, my teacher in Beihai, goes the extra mile to provide cultural context and multiple examples to learn from. In Kunming, Luna makes genuine effort to make connections with students and to find every occasion to make the learning situation light-hearted.

My Teacher Lilia Deng was amazing! Not only did she help my learning, she made it fun and engaging everyday. She has a lot of experience teaching foreigners. She enjoys talking about my interests and my culture. I would highly recommend Deng 老师！

Wonderful experience at LTL in Beihai! Can't believe the 4 weeks are already up. Having never been to China before and, after getting off a long flight, I was thankful for everything Savannah arranged in advance. I adored the homestay and the lessons, Summer teacher really made the class engaging and fun, which makes learning easier. I really enjoyed my time there and all the new friends I made.

This was my fourth experience with LTL, this time in Chengde (their ultimate immersion experience). I couldn’t have had a better experience and I can only express my deepest gratitude to my homestay family, my excellent and super professional director of studies and for my incredibly patient and helpful teacher. It’s been absolutely fantastic, a memory I’ll treasure forever!

I studied Mandarin for two months at LTL Singapore, and I absolutely loved my lessons. My teacher was Zhang Hui laoshi, and she was an amazing teacher who made our lessons a lot of fun while also making the language points and grammar super easy to understand. She made sure I felt confident when practicing my Mandarin, and also motivated me to keep studying and trying my best. My program was well-organised and flexible when I needed to make changes, and there were lots of opportunities provided to practice my Mandarin speaking in public when we went out to do activities together. I especially loved how we were able to study in different locations around the city, which gave me a chance to explore new areas I'd never been to before. I would highly recommend studying here!

Although I have only been studying at LTL Chengdu for 8 days so far, my experience with the school actually began long before I arrived in China.

From the very first email I sent to enquire about the programme, the team was incredibly responsive, helpful, and professional. Despite the time zone differences, they always replied quickly, kindly, and with all the information I needed. They also helped me understand the visa process and the documentation required for my trip, which made preparing for my stay much less stressful.

What has impressed me most is the quality of the people at LTL. Every member of staff I have met has been polite, knowledgeable, and highly professional. Many have international experience, both teaching foreign students and working abroad, which creates a welcoming environment for students from all over the world. The management team and teachers are exceptionally organised, and everything runs smoothly and on time.

The learning experience extends far beyond the classroom. LTL regularly organises social and cultural activities where students can meet, practise Chinese, exchange ideas, and learn more about Chinese culture. These activities are not only educational but also a lot of fun. They have given me the opportunity to meet people from different countries, share experiences, and build new friendships.

Another aspect I really appreciate is the practical support provided by the school. As someone arriving in China for the first time, there were many things I did not know, from payment methods and useful apps to ordering food and navigating daily life. The staff were always happy to explain these things and help me become more comfortable and independent in my new environment.

My teacher Juan Tang deserves special recognition. I am essentially starting from the beginning with my Mandarin, and she has shown incredible patience throughout the learning process. She answers every question thoroughly and always provides multiple examples to ensure I fully understand how to use new words and phrases correctly. Her teaching style is clear, engaging, and encouraging, and I genuinely look forward to every lesson. From speaking and pronunciation to vocabulary and character writing, I feel that I am making progress every day.

The school itself is also located in a fantastic area. It is situated in a modern building with excellent facilities nearby, including cafés, restaurants, places to relax, and even a gym. The location is convenient, pleasant, and makes coming to class each day something I genuinely enjoy.

Perhaps what stands out most about LTL is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Students and teachers alike share knowledge, experiences, cultures, ideas, and, of course, plenty of jokes and laughter. It creates a community where learning feels natural and enjoyable.

Based on my experience so far, I can already say that choosing LTL Chengdu was an excellent decision. I am thoroughly enjoying my time here and can confidently say that I am already looking forward to returning next year.

I attended this school for only two weeks, but honestly speaking,
my experience has been extremely positive from the very first day.
In my opinion, overall, I would definitely recommend this school to
anyone who wants to learn Mandarin in a supportive and well-located
environment here in Beijing.
The school building itself is very nice, and it is located just one
metro stop from Guomao, which is a very convenient area.
First of all, the two teachers I had were wonderful in every way.
Both of them were not only very knowledgeable but also very kind and
patient with all of us.
They were always well prepared for each lesson, each time with clear
materials and engaging activities that made learning fun.
What impressed me most was their ability to adapt to the different
levels within the same class without any problem.
The teachers always found a way to challenge the stronger students
without leaving the rest behind at any moment.
Their door was always open, literally and figuratively, and that
made a big difference for me.
Secondly, the school's location is fantastic without a doubt.
It is right in the center of Beijing, very close to a subway station,
which made commuting easy every single day.
But more than that, the school itself feels very welcoming as soon
as you walk in. The classrooms are bright and clean, really well
maintained, and there is a common area where students can have tea,
chat, or study together whenever they want.
Outside of class hours, students could also use empty classrooms to
study alone, which I found very helpful.
The staff at the reception were always friendly and ready to help with
any administrative issue quickly and efficiently.
The atmosphere is warm and encouraging, not stressful or competitive
at all. I always looked forward to going to class, even during my
short stay of just two weeks.
Another positive experience was my host family.
The school found me a family living just two metro stops away from
the school, which was incredibly convenient for getting to class
every morning. I stayed with a local Beijing family, and they were
very kind to me the whole time. Every morning they prepared a warm
breakfast for me. In the evenings, we simply talked about the day in
a relaxed way. They were patient with my broken Chinese ,
which I really appreciated, and they gently corrected me and taught me
useful everyday expressions little by little.
They cooked delicious home-style Beijing food almost every evening.
I cannot thank them enough for their kindness , really.
Finally, I will certainly recommend this school to friends and colleagues who
are thinking of studying Chinese in China in the future.
Whether you are a complete beginner or at an intermediate level,
this school can offer you a solid learning experience that is worth
the time. The combination of professional, caring teachers,
a central and cozy location, and a very kind host family is hard to
find anywhere else.
I am definitely very happy to have chosen this school,
even for just two weeks, and I am sure others will feel the same
after trying it.

Chengde è stata davvero un'esperienza unica. Come dalla descrizione del sito LTL a Changde ci sono pochissimi stranieri e gli abitanti parlano pochissimo Inglese. Questo vuol dire, almeno per quanto riguarda la mia esperienza, che, uno, gli abitanti sono particolarmente cordiali con gli stranieri e, due, che quando sei in giro e per qualunque motivo devi comunicare con un essere umano devi farlo in cinese😀.
Avendo il pomeriggio libero, oltre a fare lo studente ho fatto anche il turista e non posso non menzionare il tratto della Grande Muraglia che si trova poco distante (Jinshanling) che conserva parti originali e che vale sicuramente la pena di visitare. Un'altra star è la Residenza estiva imperiale (Bishu Snanzhuang, sito Unesco); passeggiare nel parco (gigantesco) tra bellissimi alberi e laghi e come essere proiettati in un'altra dimensione. Il tempio Putuo Zongcheng permette di assaporare un po' di Tibet essendo quasi una copia più piccola del palazzo del Potala. Infine, a pochi kilometri di distanza, ogni sera (da aprile ad ottobre) si svolge uno spettacolo davvero unico, La cerimonia dell'imperatore Kangsi. Grandioso!
Questi posti mi sono stati raccomandati da Zhong Wen che si è occupata di organizzare il mio soggiorno a Chengde e che voglio fortemente ringraziare. Non solo mi ha raccomandato luoghi da visitare e ristoranti ma mi è stata vicina durante il mio soggiorno. Ha perfino organizzato una lezione di ping pong con un insegnante Cinese! Una cosa incredibile 😀!
