Wonderful Stay at the London School of English
Everything was very well organized! It was great that we had to take the placement test before the start of the course, so we could be placed in the correct group. Furthermore, the communication with the School was always very smooth and welcoming. I chose to stay at a homestay and it was wonderful, also again all very well organized. The classes at the school very brilliant. In the courses or during the social program I had the opportunity to meet interesting people from all over the world. Also, the lunch offered by the school was very good. Thank you for a wonderful week in Londond!

I really like my learning experience at…
I really like my learning experience at school, it is usually a short period of time, only 2 months per month. I would say that the most important thing is studying here is the joy of learning English. I will have some absences, but really I want to attend every day unless I have other commitments or am sick. I don't want to be absent at all. And Emina is a teacher who makes me love English even more. She is an amazing teacher, I hope back to school in the future

More than a course, a true experience!
From the booking to the final day, everything was perfectly organized. Even though I stayed just one week, I felt fully included and supported like the long-term students. The teacher was outstanding, the location beautiful, and the atmosphere welcoming for students of all ages. Plus, the food was excellent (a big compliment to the chefs!). I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a professional and warm learning environment.

I've been using the London School of…
I've been using the London School of English services for several years and I used to be really happy with their courses. This time, however, I experienced some grade and level-assessment issues that left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I signed for a general English class in the mornings, yet I received a phone call from the Course Coordinator, Ms. Hina, just a few days before the course starts, suggesting moving me to a business English class instead because it's a higher level.
On the last day of the course, our trainer, Mr. Andrew, showed us (my classmate and me) our scores. I was so shocked that I was speechless. It was my classmate who objected and addressed Mr. Andrew: "How do you grade students, I mean come on, you can't convince me that my level is higher than Afaf's when I'm learning so much from her and with all the vocabular she has". In response to her, Mr. Andrew said: "well, these scores are given by Kate."
So, my question is, who is this mysterious 'Kate' who never showed in our classes? Shouldn't Mr. Andrew be the one doing the grading? How can a 3rd party, in this case our mysterious Kate, decides a student level instead of the trainer?
Mr. Andrew himself said that I speak proper English with accurate grammar, clear pronunciation. He also mentioned that I have a softer accent than my classmate's, and that I only need to work on word stressing. So, what's happening?
I regret to say that given the above, I would think twice before choosing the London School of English unless this matter is investigated.
Perhaps the School could use more accurate and effective tools for assessing students.

Thank you for taking the time to write an honest review of your recent experience. I apologise for the slight delay in responding – we have conducted a thorough review of your comments, so that we can make any adjustments to our approach as necessary.
Firstly, we can confirm that the scores were indeed shared. This was unintentional and we agree that the right thing to have done would have been to simply apologise and take down the levels at that point. Actually, the levels of you and the classmate you mentioned were in fact very close indeed – but with different strengths and weaknesses. Levelling can sometimes be quite misleading, because it gives an absolute score, when in practice some people are more confident, but less accurate than someone with a similar score. The training we do attempts to focus on areas for improvement, which can vary for people with a very similar overall score.
Additionally, we noted that the scores came from different assessment systems and the ones you saw were from pre arrival assessments, which often change when we actually meet our clients. We are now working to harmonise all level checking within a single system, but it’s not perfect and we accept that. We agree with your final comment and we are working hard to refine and improve our approach to assessment, though we must accept that level assessment is done at a particular point in time and results do not necessarily always reflect the reality of being in a learning environment.
Your feedback has been very useful and has begun an interesting debate here. We will be in touch with you shortly to discuss this in more detail.

Who knew? Fun to be back at school.
It was a fun experience. Our teacher , Letitia, was patient, supportive and understood the difficulties of beginners learning a language. The building/classrooms were just what you hope for if you want that feeling of learning again. I have signed up for the next stage immediately.
