Ordered just after 9am on a Wednesday, order is still sitting at received at nearly 3am on Thursday.

Somehow I don't think I'll be receiving my insects today!

Edit: At nearly 10am on Thursday I received an email from royal mail telling me that my parcel from livefoodsdirect will be out for delivery today. It seems they did send it, just didn't update the order or send me any kind of confirmation that they'd progressed the order. Not ideal communication, but they at least fulfilled the order!

I have ordered from this company regularly over the past several months as I have needed food for wildlife… although my very first order never arrived, a full refund was sent. I decided to give them another try and since then, every item has been delivered reliably. I would recommend

Sadly quality control is completely lacking recently, forcing me to go elsewhere. I only tend to require larger quantities in spring and summer when rearing baby birds; at other times of year, it may be more reliable?

Last season (2022) saw constant issues with undersized crickets (honestly they looked like ants), and a large proportion DOA, which I put down to the heat. Luckily even after being frozen, it is usually possible to identify this by their appearance or smell, but accidentally feeding rotten crickets is still a huge worry.

I received a partial refund for the dead ones but no explanation on why they were so undersized or why the same item in a different format (tub vs sack) could be completely different. I'd really rather they cancel the order than send something so materially different. This is not Tesco where you can stipulate "no substitutes", this approach results in an unacceptable amount of waste, and puts the onus on the confused customer to try and work out what on earth to order to get what you actually need for your animals.

This season has seen some orders correct, and other orders for the same thing grossly oversized (this is for mealworms and crickets - there is always a size variance in waxworms, so no complaints there).

When I reported the oversized mealworms, I was advised to phone up and request quality control checks. I appreciate the candour, but I don't think that should be the customer's job, and feel I should have been offered a refund since I'd expressed they were not usable. The birds outside ate well that week!

When I reported the oversized tubs of crickets, I received an apology and an immediate refund, which I did request outright this time. It seems I was sent completely the wrong tubs that time.

I know I'm not the only customer/rehabber reporting these issues, but they simply do nothing to address them, even though they could. That is not ok. In the interim I have driven to the nearest pet store or ordered from another online supplier (with no issues thus far) at additional expense.

LiveFoodsDirect are significantly cheaper, but perhaps this is why?? Even if they weren't cheaper, they are the better choice for me environmentally. I'd like to keep using them. The mealworms last a long time (if refrigerated and fed, of course), and delivery is always next day. I just wish they had any semblance of quality control.

Great company👍♥️ If I order before 12pm, order always comes next day, great prices, cheap delivery, live food always comes fresh. Previously always was order from them on eBay because didn’t know that they website existed where you can buy from them directly👍 This company never lets me down. One of the best companies who sells live food. For sure will order again. I highly recommend this company 👍👍👍💯💯💯

Did not receive what had been ordered. The locust we received were tiny and not the 15-22 mm size as ordered. This is the second time in a month that this happened. Very saddened as I have not previously had issues with the company , but I wont be going back as two lots of bulk buy now which are no good to us whatsoever so a complete waste of money

I have at least a dozen flawless orders with the company, but I'm leaving a review because the one time I did have an issue, their customer service was spot on. Larissa couldn't have been more helpful, and got a replacement out to me as I requested it.

Been using livefoodsdirect for over 4 years now. They are very reliable and respond to emails very quickly. I usually order mealworm and waxworms to feed nesting wild birds. Highly recommended. Never had any issues. Thank you livefoodsdirect.

Lizard life savers! I ordered hoppers for my leopard gecko as a one off as I'm self isolating and couldn't go out to the shops. Ordered Sunday, got them Tuesday morning. One happy lizard. Will definitely use again.

Used these for over 2 years now, more than 20 orders for mealworms and everyone has been as ordered and on time - great service deserves the review...

This company used to be totally reliable. I don't know what has happened to their deliveries. The mealworms themselves are usually ok but are getting bigger despite ordering what are supposed to be small regulars and now I can't seem to get the product until the end of the week. First it was an excuse of the bank holiday and now it seems to continue. And the communications seems to be poor when it was good.

There is nothing wrong with the product but this firm's delivery system is very poor. I ordered the Live Mealworms Supersaver. After the first delivery (Wednesday), the subsequent consignment (2nd) did not arrive on the following Wednesday. I wrote 2 contact forms. No reply. When I rang them on the Monday, I was informed that the delivery will occur anytime up to 5 working days, so I should be expecting a delivery by Tuesday. On Tuesday, there was no delivery. In my area, there are no problems with the postal system during Corvid. We had posts Mon to Fri and even on Saturdays, with the occasionally Sundays. Fortunately, I have access to dried meal worms from the local shops. I WOULD NOT ADVISE YOU TO BUY THE SUPER SAVER. Your beasts maybe starving whilst waiting for deliveries. Plus they have not updated their website. The telephone system is not 24 hours.

Really happy with my order, all items there in good condition just as expected, delivery time etc was great, but there was a hole in the side of a bag of crickets I ordered, so I’m now continuously finding escaped crickets running around my house

I just wanted to share my experience. There was a small issue that was no fault of the companies but they put things right for me without me even having to ask. Great service at a very difficult time for everyone, especially companies that need to rely on the postal service.

Ordered mealworms, locusts and waxworms . Free delivery and came within 3 day all alive and the correct order. Highly reccomend

Used this company last year for live mealworms. Had first batch this year delivered and they must have been left somewhere hot in transit because they arrived dead. Fabulous customer service - company sent replacement batch the next day, all alive and well. Top marks

Flawless transaction. I ordered food and water for my rescued insects.
They have by far the cheapest products I could find in the UK, at big quantities so I don't have to worry of running out and the products were delivered the next working day at no extra charge.
In the past I struggled a lot to find a seller who can deliver and is reliable.
Good to have found this seller and will keep on using in the future for sure.

I order lve mealworms from this company for my birds. The website has improved latey for pacing orders. They always despatch the order quickly so that I receive it within a couple of days. I think that the prices are very reasonable and they don't charge extra for p&p which I always appreciate.

Order fromthis site on regular basis for my large number of Frogs and Reptiles. Quality of livefood is normally excellent - but on a very few times I have recieved less then perfect orders mainly due to weather or post condidtions - but one phonecall and the order is replaced with no problems.
