Do not even use the free service.

I tried to cancel my subscription after I saw a charge in the first month. I did not use their documents they were not of use to me.
The cancellation was not put into place and I did not follow up, thinking it was dealt with.

I have not been able to watch my bank charges due to difficult personal circumstances, a husband hospitalised with covid and then a house fire ! so whilst living in temporary accomodation, now trying to pick up the pieces of last year, I find this unagreed charge in my account.

I find myself having paid for 5 further months, at £29.99 without consent, invoicing receipts normally given in other subscription businesses and without my knowledge.

I explained my difficult financial and personal circumstances and they agree to refund only one month.

This is a totally inethical business, preying on small business owners who need legal advice.

They get their small sums from people bit by bit for a service they do not use, and over time are accumulating money from unsuspecting people who are not even aware of the charges being made.

Absolutely disgusting people. I asked some legal questions regarding the tenancy agreements and they couldn’t answer me as they had no clue. Spoke to me in a horrible tone and were just incredibly rude. I and other agents and landlords I have recommended them to will not be paying them another penny. We have found another company in the same day who deserve our money and custom… those people need some serious training before continuing

Used the site for a power of guardianship; paid a one -off fee of £29 for a 10 year legal document.
Absolutely brilliant service; very impressed.

I started a 7 day free trial and did not use it except for a one time glance at a document on the first day of this trial. I thought I cancelled it but was notified on my banking app of a £33 payment taken for a subscription from lawdepot.com. I cancelled immediately the subscription on being notified of this "pending" payment. I am annoyed because there was no communication whatsoever of notification of being close to the end of the free trial in case someone did not know they had not successfully cancelled.

Having looked at the T&C's it seems that the company is currently in contravention of the The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 that makes it a legal requirement to give a 14 day cooling-off period- a term that is not included in the T&C's of lawdepot.com. The fact that the company is in breach of this regulation is serious and leaves them open to criminal sanctions (including an unlimited fine and a prison sentence of up to 2 years).

I just hope that on reflection the company refunds my £33 as is my statutory right and that the company rectify their breach of the said regulations by rewritting their T&C's.

Be careful even if you thought you had not signed up and took the trial 1 week to see if useful. (It wasnt) Turns out that you are automatically charged monthly till you formally cancel. Basically stealing your money and doing nothing in return (This practice should be illegal. Its extra dissapointing that you thought you were getting Legal help but were instead getting ripped off) AVOID AT ALL COST

Customer service is appalling!
Put it this way, if you die they will keep taking your money every month 'It's the customer's responsibility to cancel' is the line you will get. They do not take ANY ill-health into consideration, even if you have not accessed the account in over 6 months they do not send you an email or any correspondence... basically so they can keep taking your money without you realising. The advisor told me 'If I was on top of my accounts I would know this was going out' I explained the ill health... meant nothing to them. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY

I was also told 'we have been going for over 20 years' and with customer service like that, I can only assume it is from all the monthly subscriptions that they get, when people do not know they have subscribed. Shockingly bad.

Do not sign up for this scam company they charge you a monthly fee without letting you know and do not offer refunds, steer clear away from them.

There are a lot of negative reviews here, but I think this is mostly down to people not reading the T&C's correctly.

I used Law Depot for a few tenancy contracts, I paid upfront for each contract, and was billed correctly.

The contract I received was high quality, and to my exact specification.

I will certainly use Law Depot again.

I chose the £5.99 per year option, as that what it said and appeared to be, when I put my credit card in they took £71.88 to which I did not agree to. It should have been £5.99

Avoid this company! They trap you with a free trial sign up and before you know it, you pay a monthly fee for NO service whatsoever. What's more they don't communicate with you so you have no idea that your invoiced each month. No help offered, no refund offered. Never experienced this before and I will report this to the Ombudsman.

Not the greatest they removed money from my account. They have said they will will refund me. I will wait and see.

This is a scamming company, would avoid at all costs. I cancelled and they still taking £30 per month out of my account. The one and only manager wont issue a refund and they're just taking money each month!!!!

They will make you waste a lot of time for a "100% Free" document template to then make you sign up at a yearly cost, complete waste of time for a one off document.

cancelled free trial - they then billed me 3 months later for £29...I didn't see until they billed me again the month after for another £29 at which point cancelled the monthly amount they were taking for themselves from my bank...

After initially opening the case against them Paypal closed it saying they couldn't refund as it was an automatic payment (even though I hadn't authorised it) had the most unhelpful paypal person tell me there was nothing I could do.

After calling back 10 minutes later, I reopened the refund case this time under fraud (instead of unauthorised transaction) - I received money back in less than 24 hours.

they have taken money from my account even i never use them or went to their website, its a fraud, i will take legal action.

TIME WASTERS! don't waste your time with them and don't believe they will give something for free

£30 a month for a few contracts. Absolute rip off.

Unbelievable. Rude and I am fuming that your system has continued charging me after visiting your website and cancelling my subscription a long time ago but yet I have been charged since. It obviously didn't cancel at your end and you are unwilling to send a refund for this malfunction within your system. Shocking customer service.

I have used this site several times for leases I needed to create and use. Honestly, the leases are great and I did ask a lawyer if these documents are any good, including any changes they allow and suggest. Answer I was given: Yes, they are good as long as you stay within the boundary of the wording they suggest. This is a great tool when you need something common done with little personal changes, like a rental agreement, lease riders etc. However, the more complicated the request the more you will need a live lawyer to ensure all is well.

My only negative is that the pricing plan is not really all that good. As a returning customer I don't want to pay for an annual service when I only need one new document every few years.

They really need a deal for returning customers that need small changes say $20-$30 a month renewal, but not limit it to just one document. I would gladly pay that instead of the annual fee (yes it could cost more annually, but for just a month or two of access, reasonable) this way I would not mind to reactivating my account for a month or two when I need access instead of paying for an annual access, I really don't need year-round. But hey, that's just my two cents as I think it would make a better business model.

As for the “free” well, nothing is free. You just get a 7-day trial, which I honestly cancelled my first time and paid the $30 for access to my one document I needed for the year. Reasonable considering the price of a lawyer’s these days and I just needed the one document.
