Early in September I was informed that both my eyes required replacement lens and faced with a long wait to have this done I asked if I could have the procedure carried out sooner if I chose to have it done privately. My optometrist said yes and gave me an idea of what the cost would be. As a very senior citizen I decided to take that route and the same evening I received a phone call from a very kind and helpful Patient Manager who explained in detail what I could expect. I said I was due to accompany my husband to a hospital appointment in October and would very much like to have my eyes attended to in September and every thing was done to respect my wishes, the Surgeon even saying he would be willing to do them both at the same time if I agreed.
At my preliminary visit my eyes were tested on several different machines by a very friendly Optometrist who then escorted me back to the waiting room while he reported to the Surgeon. A very human and helpful act was to point out the toilet en route!
Shortly afterwards the Surgeon called me and explained what he would be doing and assured me he could improve my sight and gave me the opportunity to ask questions.
From the minute of arrival at the hospital on the appointed day I was in the care of a very kind and helpful nurse who took me to a waiting room and filled in necessary forms, then dressed me in PPE gown, head cap and woollen slipper socks. The anaesthetist then came to introduce himself, ask if I felt the need of something to calm me, which I declined and then asked if I enjoyed listening to music and what kind.
The Surgeon then came to see me and shortly afterwards the nurse escorted me to the theatre. Having both eyes done took longer than usual but listening to Jim Reeves passed the time pleasantly!
I was wheeled back to the waiting room and given a very welcome cup of tea and choice of biscuits and it seemed no time until the nurse came to say my daughter had arrived to take me home.
My time of arrival at hospital was 8.15am and I departed around 11.30am. I have Type 2 Diabetes which I keep in check with one Metformin tablet and 12 units of Lantus Insulin, a good diet and exercise.
Less than two weeks later I no longer have to wear spectacles and will shortly visit my own Optometrist to be tested for reading glasses for doing close work.
I cannot praise Laser Vision Scotland enough for their care.

My visits for the two procedures were very satisfactory and I now wait for my final visit with Optometrist to find out how successful the operations have been.

at BMI Ross Hall. Very professional excellent support team. I do not need glasses and astigmatism greatly reduced, Highly recommend Mr. Mantry and his team.

From the beginning when I was trying with BMI to get an appointment with BMI for cataract surgery I was supported very positively by Victoria Beesley, Patient care Manager who kept me informed on the status with reference to available surgery at the various Hospitals. Thanks to Victoria I was given an appointment at BMI , Kings Park Stirling. I attended Kings Park over the next 6 weeks and had two Cataract surgeries with Dr Ross and his Team. The whole procedure went very smoothly and I have say I am extremely please with results. Dr Ross explained what would happen with the complete surgery and the various options available to me.
I would for sure recommend the Catarct Surgical team at BMI Kings Park Hospital

My experience of the whole team at Shawfair was very good. Mr Ross is brilliant - I can see clearly without spectacles for the first time in over 40 years. He is backed up by a superb team - I felt very well cared for the whole time.

Iwould like to say a big thank you to Dr.Johnathan Ross eye specialist at Shawpark Hospital Edinburgh.
I first went to Shawpark Hospital in July for a consultation about my eye operation. It was relaxed and no pressure. I returned in December again for a further consultation with Dr.Ross after I had thought whether or not to go ahead with my eye operation.Dr.Ross was amazing with me and answered all my questions I needed answered. What I liked about Dr,Ross was the fact that he really listened to me and explained everything very clearly.Also I was not rushed in and out for the consultation, he made sure I was happy with all the facts before I left after the meeting.
I decided to go ahead with my surgery. First operation on right eye and a week later my left eye for lens replacement.
In my opion Dr.Ross is a genius at his work and takes pride in it.Very professional and made me feel at ease prior to my eye surgery as I did feel very anxious.
Also nursing staff were fantastic,kind and caring and looked well after me in the ward before my eye operations.
Already In just a week I can see out my right eye more clearly without glasses. left eye operationed on yesterday and I can already see a great improvement.
If anyone is thinking about getting any surgery to their eyes I would recommend Laser Vision for their knowledge , experience and being
the best qualified for this type of work.

I had Lens Replacement Surgery in November, and can highly recommend Jonathan Ross and his team.
As a anxious patient who took some time to decide to go ahead with the operation, Jonathan was very accessible to answer my questions and was re assuring, and honest, about the outcomes.
The procedures were both pain and hassle free .
All the staff encountered at the hospital were excellent.
The follow up experienced with John Fox and his team was attentive and ,again, re- assuring.
I have multi focal lenses and have excellent close up , and virtually 20-20 distance vision. No glasses or contacts required. I do experience some glare and halo effects at night from lights, which I hopefully will become more accustomed too.
I am happy with the results , and have found everyone I came into contact with professional, helpful, and friendly.

I waited a while to write a review, as I wanted my eyes to settle down post surgery. I had refractive lense replacement in both eyes in March 2019. Its not an understatement to say the surgery was transformative for me! Very shortly after the operation I could see remarkably well and within 24 hours of each operation I had fantasticly clear sight. My prescription had been very high with astigamatism and I had worn glasses since the age of 6. To be able to wake up and see clearly was amazing and liberating.
I did have concerns about the surgery itself, but found Mr Ross very confident and reassuring at all times. The surgery was much quicker than I had thought, it was at no point painful and I think the thought of it was worse than the reality. Its really just a case of looking at very bright twinkley lights above of you and you can't see anything else that is going on.
The post op care and advice was precise and at no point did I experience any problems. I had a small headache after the first eye and was tired but that was probably the effects of the adrenalin as I was nervous.
7 months later, I have better than 20:20 vision but need reading glasses for screen work and reading. This is a minor price to pay for amazingly clear distance vision and without the hassle of contact lenses and glasses. I would recommend Mr Ross and his team highly.

I had Trifocal Lense Replacements in both eyes almost exactly a year ago and I can honestly say it has been worth every penny. Previous to having surgery, I was wearing varifocal glasses and while they did correct my vision, I did find them a "pain". After researching Laser surgery I found Laser Vision Scotland and went for a consultation. I discovered Laser Surgery would not correct my condition but was advised to consider Lense Replacement surgery. The team at Laser Vision Scotland were extremely professional and it was refreshing to have good honest advice without any pressure to have surgery.
I had no hesitation in deciding to have surgery and it was carried out in a highly professional manner. I would like to thank Jonathan Ross for his skill and professionalism, believe me, he is a genius!! I had no pain throughout the surgery or since and It still amazes me how straight forward the whole procedure was. I am now totally free from glasses and I have 20/20 vision.
Thanks also to Ash (Optometrist) for her clear and concise assessment and advise. Her light hearted and fun personality helps keep the experience relaxed.

My thanks to Mr Mantry (Ophthalmologist) and Catriona Kennedy (Optometrist) for helping me to see a brighter, clearer world. The initial assessmnet visit, and subsequent day care admissions to the Spire Hospital to have catarct surgery in both eyes, were managed in a 'patient friendly' and very professional way. As an older person with some long standing visual challenges I took longer to arrive at the point where I could enjoy the full benefits of my surgery. Initially reading was blurred and inaccessible but this cleared with time, good care and patience.I'm delighted with the final result. I still need to use glasses for close work and screen time but otherwise I'm 'spec-free' and happy with the outcome.

6 weeks ago I had refractive lens exchange in both eyes as my prescription was so bad (-13) I couldn't be happier. I can now see like I was 13 again( now nearly 50). The surgery went well and everything was explained clearly to me. I couldn't recommend Jonathan Ross and his team highly enough. So friendly, helpful and professional. Any questions or worries I had were answered promptly, even over a weekend! Best thing I ever did.

I had eye surgery (LASEK) done a few months ago, and I couldn't be happier with the result. It was a big decision for me as I was quite nervous about the whole procedure, but all my questions were answered clearly and honestly, without pushing me, which I really appreciated! They were transparent about the cost, the procedure and the results I could expect. The surgery itself was painless, but my eyes were pretty sore for a few days after that, which I was expecting. I've now got 20/20 vision, and I couldn't recommend Jonathan Ross and his team enough!

Having struggled with eyesight, both distance and reading, for several years I decided to investigate lens replacement. I met with a few eye specialists and had no hesitation in going ahead with lens replacement at Spire Shawfair hospital with Mr Jonathan Ross as the surgeon. He was attentive, skilled and quite frankly a genius in his field. I now read without glasses and I can see in the distance without glasses - what a result! Jonathan's team are also friendly, committed, skilled and kind. I will never forget Helen, the nurse, offering to hold my hand during surgery - it helped enormously! All I had to do was lie still, hold Helen's hand and let Jonathan do the rest. Worth every last penny and wish I had done it 10 years ago.

Couldn't be happier with the results of my Implantable Contact Lens surgery with Dr. Mantray. Ineligible for laser eye correction I thought I would never be able to see without using glasses/contact lenses until my partner found the procedure at Laser Vision. The staff was very helpful throughout the entire process and really went the extra mile to make sure I was happy and recovering well. I am very pleased with the results, I went from a -6/-7 myopia to perfect vision, and it was definitely worth every penny!
