James: gold and silver coins fraud

James purchased gold and silver coins, he used bank transfer for the gold, so no problems, but he took the silver coins to sell to collectors . I did manage to speak to him, he said that he had been robbed at gun point, all means of communication then fell silent! I fear fraud is the only conclusion

DON'T...

Don't use this company I do not believe it is legit. James Charles received items from me and although initially paid some of the money on the sale withheld the rest. I phoned almost daily since November and finally a couple of weeks ago recieved £1000 in two tranches. £2000 still owing and the phone is now switched off. All the excuses I have received are similar to other reviews - family health, robbed at gunpoint etc. I have reported to the Police and also to Companies House to forstall the company applying for liquidation. Nothing much else to be done except to stop others falling into the same trap.

I have now reported this company to Actionfraud.
I would advise anyone involved with this company/fraudster to do likewise.
The more victims who do this increases the chances of an investigation and conviction.

Does anybody have a current contact number for James? We are very close to completing our transaction so I will not make judgement yet, it has been a bit rocky so far but I’m ever hopeful he will be a man of his word.

BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT

I write with great trepidation over my concern as to the way you have handled our business together.
My dear friend Leon, tells me that you have been very illusive and difficult to boot, in making appointments.
You have let him down so many times by failing to turn up with the required items and payment. Your promises
are empty pots of hope and honour.

The expectation of your honesty and integrity have become an embarrassment to us all. Your guarantee to me personally,
given on the 20th May 2025, has become a mouthful of hot air. There is no doubt, in all our minds, that you never intended
to be ethical in dealing with the sale or purchase of my late wife’s jewellery.

The disappointment of your shortcomings leaves me with no alternative but to take the steps to reconcile the situation and
perhaps find some solace in the outcome. Please excuse my an actions but you leave me with no choice.

Beware scammers

If I could give zero stars I would. I sent money for a bag from this “company” before Christmas and we are now in February with no sign of a delivery or refund. I have emailed and phoned but have got nowhere. This “company” is a scam. I’m sure they advertise under other names so be careful. As for Kingsley & Row, you are absolute shites for scamming people who trusted you with money they earned honestly. Karma is always around the corner.

I gave James Charles of Kingsley and Co…

I gave James Charles of Kingsley and Co my Patek Phillipe watch in July 2025 to sell on consignment. He assured me he had several buyers who were interested in this type of watch. After several months of failing to sell my watch i asked for it to be returned in November 2025. Then followed a variety of reasons for being unable to do so despite me offerIng to travel to the registered London offices of Kingsley and Co at 11, Bond Street, Mayfair. This being the location where i had handed over my watch and received a receipt from James on headed Kingsley and Co paperwork. One Shirley Ann Reardon is registered as the director and secretary of said business and is either an accomplice, made up, or a patsy. She has resigned from her positions and attempts are being made to dissolve the business, please join me in ensuring Companies House do their job and prevent this.
Since calling out my concerns i have had no contact from James Charles(i believe Goatley or Dennis as well) despite previous assurances my property would be returned.
I am taking legal action against Mr Charles and his associates and company and have the means to ensure he is stopped from impacting others in a similar manner.
This will not lie fallow however incompetent the criminal processes are in dealing with this type of crime.

James Charles / Jamie Goatley is a serial FRAUDSTER! He takes people’s valuables and never pays. Always creates excuses. He says that he’s willing to resolve the matters professionally and that the accusations are untrue. I haven’t seen my watches for 7 months, nor the money promised, just numerous excuses!

He says to make contact via registered business channels. Contact Sussex police, they will tell you that they were the ones to take down his website. That already tells you everything… If you call his previous “business” phone number, it will say that this number is not available due to fraudulent activity.

“Assertions that “hundreds of people have had their valuables stolen” are entirely untrue, unsupported by any judicial findings, and constitute malicious falsehood.” - Have a look at all the negative reviews and Olympia Mayfair. All “untrue”?

He’s a FRAUDSTER!

- A police report has been filed
- A Notice of action order filed

Mr. Goatley will be tracked down and cannot hide anymore. The time for fraud and scamming of elderly people is over.

This is a professional con man

This is a professional con man. He stole 15,000 GBP worth of gold coins mounted on Jewellry and kept stalling payment but left a nice paper trail. He lives in Brighton. He is a professional scammer. He obviously doesn't believe in karma.

Scam dont go near.

Dont even think about using this company. Stear clear at all costs.

They have failed to make a £3,325 payment for my Krugerand coin. Thus confirming they are just thieves.
They made payment for scrap gold and 2 other coins, so I thought things would go well. This wasn't the case. Thank god I never sent them all my jewellery.

List of excuses for weeks, including being held up at Gunpoint, got to open a new bank account, having a hair cut, out for dinner and even just walked in door, not even got my shoes off. One of the best was in an email I received, saying the lady buying my coin was "scammed recently and very depressed".

I've come to terms with the fact that I have been scammed by James and this company. If there is actually anyone else working for them.

The company has been reported to the Police and Action fraud, sadly they are already know to both services.

Your reply is not quite right and u know it.
My final payment has not been made. You have not refused to make it, u constantly changed the goal posts so just havent made it.
Despite saying it would be with me last Thursday at the latest.
And saying emailing out of hours is your defense, really, best u can do.
If u check u will see u responded out of hours.

If u want this review to read anybetter for u make that final payment.
U are welcome to ring me at anytime to finalise.

8.12.25 - had a telephone conversation with James today. Assured me that payment will be made by this This Thursday 11.12.25 at the latest.

Sent Dunkirk Coins to be evaluated, still haven’t received the money. Sent the coins in october its now reaching december. James owes me £1050 and He keeps delaying the payment. I just want my damn money. I wouldn’t go with them again if i could. I was told they were broken into, fair enough, but at some point i should have my money. I have sent messages to him regarding the amount of money which he owes and that he has until four pm tomorrow (monday) to pay me in full. I have full complete evidence of the first email to the most recent one. I’m incredibly happy to prove it. I wouldn’t bother going with this company, i can’t believe i have to chase an adult to be responsible for his own business.

Besides, how can a man who doesn’t even know who he is talking to or the reason to why he is talking to them know about if a complete story is accurate when he doesn’t even know himself.

You were advised clearly that there was a security incident at our premises, which temporarily delayed some of our smaller payments being processed. Despite this, we have repeatedly attempted to resolve your balance of £1,050 with you directly.

You have been asked several times to either:
• speak with us in person, or
• confirm your availability for a scheduled appointment

— but each time, you have declined or refused to engage beyond messages.

At no point have we refused payment. We have simply asked for a proper verification process, which is standard procedure when dealing with items received by post for evaluation. This protects both you and us, particularly after the recent incident.

It is unfair and inaccurate to suggest that we have ignored you or avoided responsibility. We have responded to every message, and we have made it clear that we are ready to settle your payment immediately once you attend in person or complete the required confirmation.

James Charles pulled another scam this time with 2 close people I know. Sussex police aware he also after 2 years paid me weekly back for what he owed. Bank called me he claims a charge back! He blocks people but he can’t hide for long scammer for 15 years

Worst experience of my life.

My experience has been, honestly, the worst experience of my life.

Did a deal with James on 4th November 2025, with a handwritten invoice, for £23,318 of gold. Payment was meant to be instant bank transfer - he said I would receive it that day, worst case scenario, upto 4 days.

I received nothing except excuses and assurances it was a problem their end.

I have been dripped a few thousand here and there, mostly when I have suggested I take my gold back. I have asked several times for this to happen, that I’m happy to just return any money I have received. But I keep getting fobbed off with “give us more time, the money will be with you today”.

I was asked to delete previous negative reviews and I did because I hoped it would be me somewhere but it hasn’t.

I received a call from James at 7.25am today (Friday 21st Nov) after trying to get hold of him all night. When I firmly told him I wanted to collect my gold, he told me that I was in the wrong and I “don’t get to dictate what happens”. He suggested a three way call with me, him and the bank to explain. I’m certain a bank would not facilitate a call like that.

I also asked James why emails sent from “Shirley Reardon” email address were being signed off as “James”. Too many things are not adding up.

James also threatened me with instructing his solicitor because I was desperately calling him last night.

Edit: In response to the reply below from Kingsley & Co. Their statement that they “offered” to return my gold is untrue. I suggested it as a resolution several times each time I was rebuffed and asked to just wait another day for them to complete payment. I have continuously offered to set a time and date to collect the gold AND return any money they have sent to me.

The comment saying to contact them if I want to resolve this sooner than Monday 24th Nov - I tried calling and repeatedly said I would come pick up the gold today Friday 21st Nov but that apparently is not convenient. Have called their office number and emailed them within working hours today Friday 21st Nov to confirm Monday 24th Nov and have not had a response.

I have been very patient and willing to work on a resolution of either getting the full balanced owed or the exchange of the partial payment received for my gold back.

Kingsley & Co flagged this review and Trustpilot reviewed it and ruled it does not go against their guidelines.

Edit 2: have replied asking to confirm proof of my items to be returned to me and have confirmed I have documented proof of all funds transferred to me by Kingsley & Co amounting to a small fraction of the balance owed. Also asked to confirm time to transfer goods and return money and have been told yet again to wait till tomorrow for confirmation of Monday.
Also been told to only communicate through Trustpilot updates and solicitors. Have filed a civil claim.

Edit 3: Was told by James that he would confirm a Monday meeting on Saturday 22nd morning, it is now 2.30pm with no communication via text, call or email. He has failed to provide solicitor information. No further effort to pay the balance due to me nor return the gold that he keeps saying he has offered to do (untrue, I have asked and demanded for it to be returned and they have not done this).

Edit 4: No reply to requests for their solicitor information. No response to the Letter before action. Have filed through Civil Court.

James trying to play the victim - I have clearly stated in my review that there has been a partial payment, less than a third of the total owed to me.

Now he is ghosting under the guise of “only communicating through solicitors”.

This money was to help my sick father and my husband who attempted to harm himself after finding out we have been scammed. I am now also in the hospital.

Edit 05/12/25: As of today, I have received £12,500 of the £23,210 owed to me.

James has made effort to pay the money in instalments, although this is frustrating and has made me incur financial issues due to the ongoing delay, I am trying to remain hopeful that I will resolve this issue.

1. Funds Already Paid
It is important to state clearly that you have already received £7,500 from Kingsley & Co. Your review repeatedly presents the situation as if no payment at all has been made, which is misleading.

2. Inappropriate Contact & Safeguarding Concerns
Across Friday veneering we have received 85 calls at 9:45pm and 1:00am.
We operate strictly within working hours, and repeated late-night contact created both safeguarding and staff-welfare concerns.

Because of this, and on legal advice, we instructed that all further communication be handled formally through our solicitors.

3. Solicitors Now Handling This Matter
Given the volume and nature of communication, and the escalation of allegations online, we have placed this matter fully in the hands of our legal representatives.
You were informed that responses would now come through them in accordance with procedure.

4. Return of Items
Your claim that we “refused” to return your gold is not correct.
High-value collections require a booked, confirmed appointment for security reasons.
We have repeatedly stated we are willing to arrange this.
You have been asked to confirm a time within our working hours, and this will be arranged through our solicitors to ensure a safe and documented handover.

5. Meeting Confirmation
You were advised that Monday’s appointment would be confirmed once our diary and security checks were finalised.
No refusal was ever made our team simply cannot confirm out-of-hours or during banking reviews that are outside our control.

6. Banking Delays
As has been explained transparently, we are awaiting the release of incoming funds from our provider.
Once these funds clear, the remaining balance will be transferred immediately, or alternatively your items will be returned at a formally scheduled, secure appointment.

7. Review Activity
We are aware that this review has been edited multiple times within a short period and continues to omit key facts, including the funds already received and the volume of after-hours contact.
We flagged the review solely due to factual discrepancies and safeguarding issues. Trustpilot reviewed it and kept it online, and we respect that decision.

We remain willing to resolve this matter professionally.
However, due to the intensity of the contact and public allegations, this case must now proceed strictly through our solicitors for the safety of all parties and to ensure proper legal documentation.

UPDATE - civil proceedings underway. The fraud was also reported to the Insolvency Service's Compliance and Targeting team (Investigations and Enforcement Services directorate).

Approx. £22,600 in gold was handed over to a representative of the company who identified himself as James, under a signed contract (copy retained). Despite assurances, no funds were ever received.

Multiple attempts to make contact were made via various phone numbers and channels on separate occasions, but were unsuccessful.

At the time of writing, the company’s primary telephone number appears to have been suspended. We were informed this may have followed communication with the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB).

The matter has been formally reported to both the Police and the NFIB (Ref: NFRC251107742139).

This review may be updated or withdrawn pending full verification of the company’s explanation, cooperation by its representatives, and full settlement of the outstanding sum.
