Discrimination
My friend went to the store in Columbia,SC and he was told he was a liability and they would not alter a suit for him. He's a little person. How is he a liability. This is ridiculous and disrespectful. He was insulted. I think your employees are just lazy and didn't want to do it. Discrimination! Customer Service is Terrible
I have bought several hundred dollars worth of clothes over the years. I went again and bought shoes, some shirts, and a few other things. I was looking for some slacks and tried some on. The person helping me said they did not have any in the color I wanted. He said he would ship me that color. I got them and they are different pants and don't fit. Now I am trying to return them and it is a nightmare. I live 2 1/2 hours from the store but they say the only way to get a refund is to go there. The store says call customer service, and customer service says call the store. I am tired of the runaround. I will not be giving them anymore of my money.

FALLING QUALITY
The quality of the (men's) dress shirts have become both worse post-covid & changes to company. I ordered on-line 2 quan. white french cuff dress shirts as no longer available from company stores a while back, & received a very unexpected surprise once opened package & inspected shirts. one was obviously a store display at one time as had numerous pin holes & also was badly wrinkled & had fabric tears. other shirt had noticible collar fabic defect & fabic wrinkling/puckering. this shirt could not be steamed nor ironed per local cleaner to correct fabic issues, problems are poor construction. lucky was able to get refund on both. I am very hesitant to order another 2 shirts from Jos A Banks as could get more quality problems, but is unfortunate their stores have stopped stocking these in my size. also, this company is changing to universal sizing similar to Macy's & JCPenney & phasing out, as example, 32 sleeve length, & going to universal 32/33 sleeve . I have been doing business with Jos A Banks for over 20 years, now, with the universal sizing changes, I can shop @ other retailers for usually similar or less cost & actually see the construction of the product. it is a shame this company has dropped in image & quality & continues to do so.

Had my son try it on to see that these people at Jos A Bank truly did not care. They sent me a used tux jacket that had defective twisted sleeves going in the wrong direction .
I just want my money back at this point.

Avoid Online Orders
I have bought several suits, shirts and pants from Jos A Bank in store. I recently needed a shirt for a performance. When I arrived at the store, I found the shirt that worked and they did not have it in my size. The gentleman said he could order it for me. I verified the size. When the shirt arrived. It was the wrong size. I called Jos A Bank. They said I had to return the shirt to the store and get a refund. They then ordered me the right size shirt (at my expense) and had it shipped. That shirt arrived today and had a large cut in the collar like someone used a box cutter to open a box the shirt was in. After contacting Jos A Bank, they said there is nothing they can do but for me to return it to the store for a refund. The store is 45 minutes away from my house and the performance that I need the shirt for is tomorrow. Now I have to scramble to buy a 3rd shirt for the performance and I have to find time to drive 45 minutes to return the two shirts that they messed up. As I told a Jos A Bank employee, I will no longer shop at that store. They have shown that they have poor customer service and attention to detail. These are the two main things I look for in a clothing store. Shop there at your own risk.
The Trials of Buying A Custom Suit
Ordered a custom suit and went in December 2023 to have the final fitting. I live about 40 miles from the store. Store personnel marked the suit and noted that the requested suspender buttons needed to be added. At that time I voiced my displeasure with the fit of the front of the coat at the buttons. They gave me a Jan 11, 2024 date to pick up the suit. Returned Jan 12 to learn that the break in trousers had been done wrong and that the coat sleeves had not been done at all. The clerk on duty thought I was there for the initial fitting. The entire alterations experience has been unsatisfactory. I now have to wait an additional week and drive another 80 mile round trip in hopes that they get it correct this time. BTW they say I should button only one button on the coat to make it fit correctly.
Their customer service is non existent.
I ordered three dress shirts size 17 neck, 32/33 sleeve. I reviewed the sizes and description before finalizing the order. I got an email confirmation that had a wrong size for one of the shirts. I sent an email to their on line address, and did not get an acknowledgment. The next morning, I called the customer service phone number. I was told that the warehouse had processed the order and it was waiting to be shipped. I asked the customer service clerk to call or email the warehouse to pull the order and change the size error. She said that she was not able to do that. What is the point of a customer service department that is unable to fix their own error? I will not buy from Bank any more.
Cheap material
Cheap material; cheap and shoddy workmanship. I bought a grey jacket in September; by the next month it was 'pilling' and there were loose threads. Everything I have bought over the past 5 years - and I mean everything - is falling apart. Shirt cuffs fray; buttons come off shirts and pants; socks are good for 3 wearings and then have holes. This is absolutely a travesty of how the store used to operate. Ten years ago I would never think of going anywhere else when their store was 12 miles away. Now the nearest store is 60+ miles.

DO NOT SHOP HERE!! I originally shopped with the Jos A Bank in South Park area of Charlotte. I expected so much better service. I went in there to get a custom tuxedo made for my wedding. I was promised it would be available by a certain date so I can pick it up and travel out of state for my wedding. Upon the day of pickup the tuxedo did not arrive and come to find out, it hadn't even been made yet. Nobody communicated a thing the entire time. VERY Poor customer service. I was then told they would fedex me a completely different tux to the place I was getting married, which they did end up doing. I ended up having to get married(the most important day of my life) in a tux that was rented and didn't fit to my specifications. I was very much stressed & felt my big day just didn't matter to them at all. They ended up giving me like $50 off my custom tux I paid for, which I ended up getting weeks after my wedding. It wasn't much use then. Fast forward 18 months, I decided to give them a chance to redeem themselves. This time, it's my oldest sons prom. I figured we would just rent a tux and it was no way they would screw this up. We picked everything out with an older black guy who wears glasses and sounds like he is from the UK(whom wasn't much helpful at all the entire time), but thats who they gave us to work with so thats who we worked with. This guy's customer service skills were very poor to say the least and he was very much out of touch with how kids want to dress for them prom. He wanted so badly to put my son is some big wide leg suit thats ugly as hell. I showed him an exact picture of my son in a tuxedo and told him this is the exact look he is going for. Also in the picture my son is wearing a tux from jos a bank, from my previous wedding. So I'm not sure what the disconnect was with this guy. So finally he understood the look and ordered the rented tux. We came back in days later to pick it up and OF COURSE its a wide leg big azz suit and there was nothing they could do to give him the look he wanted. They wasted our time completely and I asked for a refund. I ended up having to go to Express to just buy a suit which fit him perfectly and was the right fit but I spent 3 times as much of course. The manager got involved but he wasn't much help at all. This location is literally the worst Jos A Bank's I have ever done business with and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. "DO NOT" trust them with any important day of your life because they 1000% will screw it up and all you will end up getting is some punk ass apology and a few dollars back. The entire staff there is complete with out of touch morons who don't have a clue what the hell their doing. I honestly can't believe they actually earn income doing this for a living. As someone in sales who works with people daily I know all about giving an iconic experience and the Jos A Banks in South Park literally provides an experience from HELL. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
Return policy, specials good, but!!!!!!!
I give them a 2 for their return policy. The quality control at the production level isn't what I would expect. Never in 50 years of shopping did I experience this in a purchase. I bought two XL JAB "1905" long sleeve dress/causal shirts, on sale. Got home tried them on and found one felt more like a tailed fit as it fit tight. The second was was the shocker. First of all, each sleeve was 2 1/2 inches longer than the other shirt, same size and brand. Secondly, the tail barely reached my waistline. It was like a medium shirt with 4XXL sleeves? The brand is made in Honduras which I prefer rather than China. I'm pretty average in height and weight, 6'2' with no bulging stomach. The "2" is higher than I would have graded them but their specials are excellent. Quality control to me is the issue. I'll most likely try them again but will certainly take a ruler with me to check a few measurements.
Most Absurd Shopping Experience
Most absurd shopping experience of my life. I purchased a Custom "Reserve" suit (almost $1,200), at first fitting the pants were ordered too small and needed to be remade, and the jacket didn't fit correctly. After returning twice more for alterations to the jacket, they had me take the suit as-is for an upcoming wedding and said they would remake the jacket after. Brought the jacket back, manager re-measures me, I return two weeks later and the new jacket not only fit worse than the first, but had an asymmetrical collar roll that the tailor couldn't fix, a 3" gap off my chest from lapel pop and a horrible ripple on the shoulder seam from a pull in the stitch or something. At this point I told them that I would prefer to return the suit and get a refund. They agreed and I told them I would return with the pants and vest. This is where it got weird. I bring everything in and the girl I had been dealing with insists that she not only give me a full refund, but also a $150 voucher and the suit for free WITH a 3rd custom-made jacket that is oversized so I could take it to a real tailor. I turned the free suit down several times, mostly because I had lost all faith. I did, however, want to recoup as much as possible for my time, inconvenience and for looking sloppy at a wedding!! So finally, I accept, as long as I get a refund you can leave me with the useless suit. I get a call the following week informing me that my jacket was ready, I return to the store, the lady working there goes in the back to grab the jacket, then comes back to tell me that they cannot give me the suit and that I need to return AGAIN with the rest of the items as they belong to the store now. I'm mostly annoyed that this wasn't conveyed when they called the night before telling me to come pick it up!! So frustrated!! I probably spent 8 hours total in this store over the 10 visits I've made (and I'm still dealing with them, it ain't over!!). Several of the employees I dealt with were either rude, dismissive or just incompetent. They advertise a custom suit that can cost anywhere from $900-$2,000+ dollars (Reserve), then they measure your shoulders, chest, sleeve and inseam - not very custom... You're better off getting one of their $199 suit specials and taking it to a tailor for a decent fit. You're even better off going to a real custom clothier instead of a glorified mall store - it'll cost you an $100 more and you'll save that in gas mileage and time out of your life. DO NOT believe the positive reviews on this place's custom suits! Those poor suckers either got very lucky or unwittingly paid $1,000+ for a suit that doesn't fit properly. RUN!!!!!!!
Terrible service
I saw a 100% wool hat I loved on their website (item JAB8WMTLRG01). A patchwork hat. Because of the hat, I ordered 3 additional items. A 50% wool black hat was delivered and when I complained, the jokers made it look like my fault. I sent them the other details, i took the pains to even show the deliver notifications. The hat was available in only one color and a black nonsense was delivered and they wanted me to go through the long return process. First and Last time I am having anything to do with these establishment.
Poor customer service
Sent another person’s order to me. Refused to send out the correct one until they got the other person’s back. Would not have feedex pickup at the house. Asked to speak to the manager and was told they would have him call me today. I never got the call. Got an email which said they tried to reach me but had my cell with me all day and doesn’t show any missed calls. Further the email just gave me the tracking number for the other half of the order. I had been a long time customer.
Poor fulfillment
I recently ordered 3 shirts and Jos Banks sent 2 as ordered and the other was fulfilled with the wrong size.
I sent it back for an exchange for the correct size. They credited my account instead of sending me the correct size. Very poor service. Very disappointing.
Disappointing experience
Let me start by saying I wear a suit every day and I have more than 6 different suits. My daughter was getting married so I needed to get a new suit to go with her colors. I shopped around and decided on a Jos. A Bank suit. I was really excided because I had never gotten one from them and they had a really good reputation, at least in my mind.
I picked one out and it needed to have some minor alterations. First off, the alterations almost doubled the cost of the suit! But I went ahead anyway. When they informed me it was ready I went and picked it up. When I tried it on at home, the waist had been taken in too much and did not look good. I took it back and the seamstress totally agreed when I tried it on. As we were not getting close to the wedding I made sure they could fix it and I could still get it for the big day. They said it would only be a couple days and they would call as soon as it was ready. More than a week later my wife stopped by because she was in the area of the store and first off, they could not even find the suit! After going through the whole store they finally found it, and nothing had been done! It was marked so they knew what to do and said they would do it right now. I came an hour later and again, they could not find it! Really?! After finding it I tried it on and it fit fine. Not to be too picky but when I put it all back in the hanging bag to leave, the zipper came off the bag.
Let's just say, right now I think I will only own one Jos. A Bank suit! Really a sad experience overall.
Good online shopping experience and products (so far)
I see a lot of bad reviews on here, but my most recent shopping experience, which was 100% online, was pretty seamless, and so far I like the quality of the products I received. I bought two dress shirts and one heavy button down sweater on clearance, all for ridiculously good prices. They showed up quickly. Not sure I'd pay full price for many of their items, or purchase a suit online, but they seem to offer lots of sales and have lots of nice looking items. Even if the dress shirts don't last me too long, for the clearance prices, I won't be too upset. But so far they seem like very good quality, will update the review if they don't hold up after a few wears and washes.
Canceled order
I probably spent 30 minutes shopping for the right clothing. I submitted my order and got a confirmation saying it was good to go. About 36 hours later I got an email saying the order was cancelled. No explanation, no offer for a % discount for my next purchase, nothing. Pretty frustrating..
