Lovely place
Lovely place , clean, plenty of equipment to choose from. I go at 5 am so never need to wait to use anything and have a lovely sauna and shower before my shift Perfect.😁👍

I've been using the gym now for a few…
I've been using the gym now for a few years.
Location is great for work. People are friendly as are some of the staff.
But the machines are now constantly failing due to lack of maintenance.
If I have a late start at work I like to use the sauna, like to get in about 5.45 ish but sauna is nowhere near warm enough. The biggest issue is the changing rooms.
Closed from midnight till 5am for cleaning....... this is a joke. I pay for 24 hr access to everything. I am mostly in the gym anywhere from 2.30 onwards so when I'm finished I can't freshen up have to get changed in disabled toilet, have been told to use the disabled shower room, but this is always locked and when you ask the night staff about opening it you have no chance. There is also night security on so there should be no issue with the changing rooms being open.

Hello! Thanks for leaving us some feedback, we appreciate it.
We are a 24-hour gym in Blackburn, but due to there being less staff on duty throughout the night, areas which are not covered by CCTV are closed t for the safety of our members (i.e. the main changing rooms and saunas).
We do however leave the accessible changing room open at all times, as well as there being lockers for you to use. If you need to get changed or grab a shower during the night, that option is there for you and you'll have complete privacy in there.

Smelly showers
Went to the Blackburn jd,
Range of machinery and squat racks good,
The showers were horrendous, they stank of unrine. Unsure when they’d been last cleaned. (This was during off peak time around 2:30pm)

Inconsistency with the sauna switch on…
Inconsistency with the sauna switch on times, unable to plan workouts/sauna alongside work, sauna not turned on today until 5:55, the opening times state 6am this should be up to a temperature of at least 70 at 6am to make it usable.
numerous people in the sauna since Christmas have been discussing using the new gym in Blackburn once open, this has been discussed with the staff member who turns the sauna on but we do not feel this is being relayed onto management.

30yrs experience in Gyms - my honest non bias review
Likes: Sauna albeit small, Location is close to home.
Dislikes: Staff ignorant and minimal effort, equipment faulty and falling apart (I had to fix something before I could use it), maintenance is therefore shocking, cables fraying, benches covered in cracks, all individual benches have fixed inclined seat which isn't comfortable for people over 6' tall hanging off the bench, not enough free weights for the hundreds of people that all go between 5 & 7pm, 7 showers for 100s people (95% men), cable machines using multiple pulleys so if you're moving 90kg, it's actually only about 40kg which is rubbish feedback. Tripping over people, phones, keys, bottles, plates, machines and free weights left all over the place, poor lighting, really loud music which is completely unnecessary, everyone packed in like sardines - clearly a money making machine putting profit first; I feel less important here than at The Gym and am likely to be reverting back to them.

Gym is massive but when you go in…
Gym is massive but when you go in changing room its very tiny and only 6 showers and tiny steam room. Evening time is packed out with many hundreds of people exercising and many waiting about 30 to 40 mins for shower,

JD gym review after 1-2 weeks
I liked that the machines did fulfil their purpose for building muscles though I find there a quite a few negatives personal to me: the noisy music, old machines (though most still achieve its usage) and the male changing rooms. I I'm not careful at times then I may see somebody naked which is not what I come for

Escape from Alcatraz
Unfortunately not good. It is on the website that it is £5 until 25th December. This is with the caveat you have to pay a month's membership from 25 Dec to 25 January, when a lot won't be able to use due to Xmas and New year. Please be upfront and honest and have this at the front of your offer. Be transparent.
I have enquired about cancelling on the 25th Dec and paying the fiver as advertised. Whilst in the gym and without confirming with me they have cancelled my membership straight away.
This has left me out of pocket and stuck in the gym for 40 mins as I couldn't get out and no staff around.
It's a real shame as the gym is decent but customer service and admin a disgrace. I have no doubt no one will respond to this message and I will get an automated email stated someone will try and look in 14 days.
Please help.

Great equipment but let down by a few…
Great equipment but let down by a few things.
Smelly toilets. First gym I’ve ever been that doesn’t have a door between the changing rooms and lavatories. The stench is awful.
Music is far too loud and rubbish. It over powers my own, even at full volume to which my phone raises an issue about my hearing health.
The lights dont dim anymore. There use to be a time of night when some of the lights would dim. But that has stopped.

Great gym with a great bunch of trainers!
Been a member for 2 months now. With working 2 jobs and a having a 2 year old I only find time to exercise in my lunch break. I find the classes available at a lunch time great. Kirsty that runs LBT is amazing. She is so supportive and my god she makes you work, there needs to be another LBT class at lunch!! Jake that runs burn on a Friday is awesome and very motivating! To be honest I enjoy all the classes and they are all a great bunch of trainers! Great gym. Thank you all!

No Induction
Have not been given an Induction, should not have to ask.
Don’t see much staff either. Would like some help to get started
The toilets really stink out the changing rooms. Very overpowering odour and nothing is done about it until the end of day.

As a lot of our members join online, not necessarily whilst they are in the gym, we do not make inductions compulsory so you are free to start using the gym immediately after joining if you feel happy to do so. We absolutely do offer them though, so If you would like an induction, please get in touch with your gym directly and a member of the team can help arrange this for you. You can email the manager on Blackburn@jdgyms.co.uk if you cannot manage to find a member of the team next time you are in.
You are also welcome to offer any additional feedback to the team at the same time to rectify any other issues that may be effecting your gym experience.
