Country roads and back roads of Switzerland.
The tour itinerary, daily excursions, accommodations, restaurants, and local experiences were great. We enjoyed the farmers market, the street fair, and going to local homes to learn more about their way of life. Our driver, Nico, was great and very helpful; he was always on time. Our tour guide, Matt, was very knowledgeable about Switzerland, very organized, always on time, and had some good stories for us. He made everything run very smoothly and always had our best interests in mind he also gave us local treats to try out.

I was very happy with finally seeing the Ring of Kerry, the cliffs and a visit to Galway! The weather, of course, was exceptional and added greatly to the experience.

Visit Scotland, Just Not with Insight Vacations
While the places visited on Country Roads of Scotland were wonderful and rich with history, the tour guide was lacking. He did not give details about arrivals and departures and had little knowledge about the places we travelled through or were visiting. He played his favorite music for ALL of us to be forced to listen to and had no regard for those of us who don't drink alcohol. He gave us 45 minutes in one of our official tour stops, but gave us 2 hours in a tourist stop that was not even part of our itenerary. I would not recommend Insight Tours despite the fact that our driver was wonderful!

Spectacular 12-day Country Roads of Scandinavia
My wife and I went on the 12-day Country Roads of Scandinavia tour, with additional days before and after the tour. It took us across Norway and Denmark.
Beyond the notable cities like Oslo, Bergen and Copenhagen, we visited some of the loveliest towns, countryside, mountains and fjords. Nature abounds with the majesty of snow-capped Hardangervidda Plateau and frozen fjords, scenic cruises along misty fjords flanked by rocky mountains and cascading waterfalls, scenic ride on Flam Railway that carves its way across mountains and valleys, awesome Preikestolen and so many other memorable places.
While cities were bustling and attractive with historical buildings, modern-day developments, century-old churches and shopping and lifestyle malls, we (being city dwellers in Singapore) were particularly drawn to the smaller towns and picturesque villages with their cozy restaurants and shops, postcard-perfect painted facades, cobblestone walkways and friendly locals.
Much thanks to our tour director who braved rain to confirm arrangements, and informed us of the local culture and background of venues we visited or passed by during the coach ride. Our gratitude is also extended to our driver who kept us safe so that we were able to concentrate on the scenery as we travelled across the country roads of Norway and Denmark.

2026 INSIGHT VACATIONS
2026 INSIGHT VACATIONS – May 8 – May 22, 2026 - SPAIN, PORTUGAL, GIBRALTER
The itinerary and hotels were good, but the food, wine, and travel director were poor.
We thought Insight would be a step up from one of the companies lower cost vacations options (Trafalgar), but this trip was a step down. We are regular travelers usually 5 weeks per year and have used many different travel companies. We sent our thoughts and concerns to Insight Vacations (to their management, etc) expecting they would reply, but our e-mails and mailed letters have been ignored. We are MOST CONCERNED because we have another vacation booked with Insight coming up in a month and we are not looking forward to inedible food or cheap wine. At this point I would be very wary about booking any vacation with Insight.

The tour director and driver were…excellent.
The tour director and driver were excellent. The itinerary was good. The local guides were good. The hotels were not as good as on previous Insight tours, and I have done 7 trips. We had 3 star rooms in 4 star hotels. Small, a long way from the reception and elevators, and sometimes lacking amenities. I do not think this gave the same value for money as earlier tours. Your loyalty scheme no longer rewards repeat customers in the way that it used to.

Small group if 24 people. Fabulous Travel Director made the tour very special. Very comfortable coach and Dom was a professional driver.
Amazing experiences in beautiful places, especially the islands of Havar, Korcula and the city of Dubrovnik.

Best of Spain & Portugal Review
My husband & I went on the Best of Spain & Portugal Tour & wanted to say we enjoyed it, but it was very gruelling. Way too many tours & no downtime for us & the others. We had no time to explore any of the cities on our own. We would have liked time to shop , look around etc. We both felt exhausted by the time we finished the trip.
The tour guide Dom was the best guys we had ever had. He was very personable, kind, funny & patient. He made the trip well worth it. If we ever do this again, we want him to be our tour guide again.
The bus driver (Joel) was such a good driver, kind, funny, personable & always on time.
We hope we will meet up with these two special people again.

Deceptive Advertising
Update: partial refund received June 8, 2026. Overall tour was good, but the 3rd hotel they put us in was not the hotel we were supposed to be in. It was very dirty; a worm on the floor in the bathroom and mold in the shower. Also, the bidet was right next to my face when on the toilet. On April 21 I was promised in writing a partial refund. The optional tours were optional for Insights. On paper lots of extra tours were offered, but only 2 were given. Both of these incidents constitute fraud. Don't use this company.

Very disappointed customer
I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience truly deserves one.
I booked a guided tour through Costco Travel with Insight Vacations, trusting both brands for customer care and professionalism. Unfortunately, I had to cancel due to a serious medical emergency: my husband was hospitalized with a sudden cardiac condition and a significant decline in heart function.
To be clear, I am not evaluating the quality of the tour itself, because I never had the chance to experience it. This review is about how Insight Vacations and Costco Travel handled a serious customer emergency.
When someone is facing a serious situation involving the health of a close family member, you expect at least some compassion, understanding, and support. Instead, Insight Vacations enforced a strict 50% cancellation penalty, even though I cancelled more than 6 weeks before departure. They did not offer a future travel credit, a goodwill adjustment, or any meaningful accommodation — and they did not even ask me to provide medical documentation confirming my husband’s hospitalization.
A simple and reasonable solution would have been to offer a future travel credit for the full amount, valid for a year. That would have been a fair win-win solution: the company would keep the business, and the customer would not be financially punished for a medical emergency completely beyond their control.
Instead, the response felt rigid, policy-driven, formal, repetitive, and ultimately dismissive. Even after escalation, I was told the decision was final and non-negotiable.
This was my first experience with Insight Vacations — and it will absolutely be my last. I will not book with Insight Vacations again and will think twice before using Costco Travel for guided tours in the future.
I expected companies of this level to show more compassion and flexibility in an exceptional medical emergency. Instead, this experience left me feeling that their policies are designed primarily to protect their own find interests, with little regard for the customer’s circumstances.

We are sincerely sorry to hear about the challenges your guests faced during their European journey. The primary concern regarding the air conditioning is deeply regrettable. While air conditioning is not a guaranteed feature, the hotel in question was equipped with it; unfortunately, it was not functioning in the guests’ room. ( it is like you rent a car, engine is the basic you need, wheels are optional and that is why they are worned out. You can still drive at 10 km per hour even though tires are flat). We were especially disheartened to learn of the reported behavior from hotel staff, which is entirely unacceptable. To help alleviate the discomfort, the Travel Director promptly purchased fans and remained actively engaged throughout the situation.

Insight has endangered my life
Insight has endangered my life plus created a nightmare of a vacation. Extremely poor communication. We were told that we had to change buses while we were all on an excursion. We were told our personal items left with the bus would be moved. When we arrived back from the excursion they didn't take our items off the bus. All of our medications including heart medications and hearing aid charger is part of this. Now my husband can't hear and my life is at risk. Many false conflicting statements were given. Thanks Insight for ruining my trip.

Inconsiderate to locals
They might provide a good experience to their clients but parking on the pavement in Torphichen at a point where the road narrows and making it difficult for traffic to see doesn't enamour you with the locals. Please feel free to look on the village Facebook page for evidence. There is a large car park by the community centre where buses are easily accommodated and it's less than 2 minutes to walk from there to the pub.

This was truly one of the best travel…
This was truly one of the best travel experiences my daughter and I have ever had. Although she and one other young person were the only younger travelers on the trip, the entire group was incredibly warm and welcoming. Everyone embraced them and made them feel completely comfortable and included, which meant so much to us.
Our tour guide, Selina, was fantastic—genuinely kind, attentive, and always making sure everything ran smoothly and that we were all taken care of. You could really tell she cared.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a meaningful, well-organized, and heartwarming travel experience. We came home with unforgettable memories and new connections that we’ll always treasure.

Insight Vacations refund challenge
Insight Vacations cancelled their April Best of Britain tour (second year in a row) and initially refused to refund my $700. I had not paid the full amount by the due date because we were waiting on a medical diagnosis for my wife which would have prevented us from travelling. It eventually got resolved.

The whole experience from beginning to end on Best of Italy was amazing! I felt so taken care of the whole time by the incredible travel director and the local experts were so passionate and welcoming. We got to visit all the big spots as well as lesser known destinations, which were a real personal highlight. Would recommend Insight to anyone!

Everything about our Highlights of Eastern Europe tour was flawless. The hotels were fantastic, the pace of the tour was brilliant, we spent more than enough time in each city, I learnt so much but also enjoyed letting my hair down with the friends I made on tour. And don't get me started on the food, I put on about 5kgs but I don't regret a single thing.
If you're thinking of going on a guided tour, there's literally no better tour company than Insight Vacations.

Avoid Insight Vacations in U.S.
I waited for several months before deciding to write a review about our recent trip with Insight Vacations. In September 6-14, 2024 during the National Parks (Yellowstone) tour we completed our 6th and final trip with Insight Vacations. Not real sure what happened since our first Insight Vacation but it really has fallen out of our favor. The travel director, Manuel, seemed very uncomfortable, stressed and rushed in every aspect of planning and guiding this trip. This creates additional anxiety to an already exhausting bus trip. The driver, Archie, did a wonderful job. One of the major problems we have noticed is cost versus quality of trip. The trip was extremely draining and tiring. We actually had to take another relaxing vacation to unwind from this drain. I sure hope Insight Vacations can figure out a way to blend cost, quality and actually spend more time at much nicer areas and less time with less desirable venues. We will look for less stressful and more comfortable ways to travel. We wish the best of luck.
