I recently spent several weeks in Colombia and had the opportunity to experience Impulse Travel through both their Breaking Borders tour in Bogotá and several interactions with their team during my trip. My experience exceeded my expectations!

From the beginning, what stood out most was the level of care and intentionality they bring to everything they do. The team took time to understand what I was looking for, offered thoughtful recommendations throughout my trip, and every suggestion (from accommodations to local experiences) was excellent and on point. I never felt like they were simply trying to sell a tour. Instead, they genuinely wanted me to have a meaningful experience in Colombia.

The Breaking Borders tour was unlike any city tour I've taken. Before entering the Barrio Egipto community, we met at a local artist collective where we learned about the history of the project, the community, and the purpose behind the experience. That introduction made the rest of the tour much more meaningful.

Once in the neighborhood, local community guides shared their own stories, the history of the area, and how tourism has become part of the community's ongoing, positive development. We explored incredible street art, learned about the neighborhood's challenges and resilience, and had opportunities to ask questions throughout. The bilingual support was excellent, making the experience engaging for both Spanish and English speakers.

What impressed me most was how authentic everything felt. The experience never felt staged or rushed, and it was clear that the people leading the tour genuinely cared about their community. It also gave me confidence that my travel dollars were supporting local initiatives rather than simply passing through the destination.

Beyond the tour itself, every interaction I had with the Impulse team was professional, responsive, and welcoming. They were generous with their time, excited to share their knowledge of Colombia, and passionate about creating tourism experiences that benefit local communities.

Overall, I would absolutely book with Impulse Travel again and would confidently recommend them to anyone looking for stand-out travel experiences in Colombia. I just came back from a tour of the coffee lands of Colombia organized by Impulse Travel and lead by Rodrigo Atueste, CIO and Co-owner.

I’m a university professor, and Impulse Travel did an outstanding job facilitating our reporting expedition in Colombia.
