Fairly efficient though somewhat lacking in transparency around costs and documentation.

After survey I was advised to reduce my proposed 14 panels to 12...ok. On installation day the fitters arrived stating they were installing 10 panels. I knew I had lost two panels during survey but without any contract documents since the survey stating final number of panels I was somewhat unprepared to debate.
Upon completion I was then invoiced minus the 2 other panels. So ultimately am x4 panels less than when original order was placed and am pretty annoyed about that.

I was originally advised that aside from the deposit nothing is due until I was completely satisfied with the install...

So far have been asked to pay the full due balance which I have declined until a fair way forward is agreed. Have offered a further partial payment which was reluctantly agreed by the accounts team.

I am hoping to resolve fairly and have the additional panels installed asap,

Our solar panels etc. were installed by Home Smart Energy (via the Hampshire CC scheme). We have been really impressed by all aspects e.g. customer service, surveyor's visit and report, installation team and post-installation technical support.
The installation was completed in a few hours and we were generating immediately afterwards. We had one minor technical issue soon after installation but this was dealt by phone contact with the technical team.
The Solis phone App is extremely useful and very easy to use.
We have no hesitation in recommending HSE to anyone contemplating installing solar panels.

In response to your reply from my previous review, I DID NOT OPEN up my batteries I have photographic evidence of my batteries on the day I reluctantly returned them to you showing them to be sealed from the manufacturer. I suspected something like this would happen from you after the dreadful experience I was having from your company and this is why I took photographs. If there is any fingerprints inside my batteries then this is either from your company or the battery manufacturer. Please do not accuse me of something that just is not true or cannot be proved. SHOCKING BEHAVIOUR.
I have email from pylon (battery manufacturer) stating that “the batteries must be positioned laying flat with terminals facing horizontally if the battery is placed vertically then this may cause internal device failure”which you positioned incorrectly on their sides Also pylon have told me that if batteries are discharged for a long period of time then is not covered by warranty.You took over 7 weeks to attend my property so my batteries were discharged for long period of time due to your fault.
As with you claiming I have had a leak. I have clearly told you that the staining on my loft roof is historic and was there when I bought my property 9 years ago. The damp report clearly states it’s historic and that my loft is completely dry. You declined to come out and examine my loft. Also the independent damp report states my loft has no water ingress. Also your engineer chose to place the batteries in this location in my loft.
I have an email from you clearly saying “if you decide not to go ahead with the repairs and want us to deliver the batteries to you it will be a cost of £250” so please please start being truthful.
I have truly never experienced such a dreadful company. PLEASE PLEASE AVOID

I used Solar Together scheme by Essex county council, Home Smart energy won the bid and the experience from initial contact through the survey to installation was very very good. I recently had an alarm notification and contacted Leo of Home Smart Energy technical help and was frankly amazed at how quickly and efficiently my issues was dealt with by him remotely direct to my Solis inverters data link literally a minute or two. The Solis web app on my phone is another great piece of innovation.
Highly recommended.

Leo talked me through the re-start procedure and made it very simple and easy to follow.
Just wish I had found it written down somewhere!

Had our installation last week and from initial booking to the date of fitting everything has run smoothly. No problems getting through to the team in the office and every step is explained in detail and clearly. The surveyor carried out a full inspection taking his time to ensure every aspect of our quote was clear and concise. On the day of installation the roofers and electrician were friendly, professional and worked well together to ensure the whole process was smooth and trouble free. The electrician took time to explain the App and ensure we understood how it works. All the staff have been helpful and friendly and even though Solar Panels are an investment it is one I am glad we went with and look forward to a longer term saving on our energy. Thank you all. A very happy customer :-)

I had a solar installation completed by Home Smart Energy and to say I am impressed would be an understatement! All teams, installers, surveyor and the people I have spoken to in the office have been helpful, tidy and pleasant. All completed in about half a day and have been generating free electricity quite happily ever since. Happy to have such good service and a great experience especially since this is a large investment. Would highly recommend!

UPDATE 2: No certification can be issued for the system and it cannot be connected to the grid. Their "surveyor" supposedly inspected our electrical installation and said it was ready to be connected to the grid and we would be selling energy in a couple of days. 2 months after installation and we are informed that major works need to be done before the system is safe to be connected to the grid, and they will take a couple of months and a big disruption. Nothing the "installer" told us was true!

They left without completing the installation, with components missing and broken.

2 weeks after installation the inverter completely broke down and they don't have the knowledge and will to fix it.

They have been scamming people through solar together, but it is all being investigated at the moment.

For complaints write to HIES Scheme that is the regulator for the industry.

UPDATE: After trying to report my reviews and failing, they decided to switch the inverter back on (as they claimed they had switched it off and it was not broken). But the battery is still not working. Whatever we are generating goes to the grid, which makes me very suspicious as to what they have access to and what they can play with.

Their responses are provocative, including accusing us and threatening us with legal action. Avoid!!!

Was originally meant to have Eon Solar fit my solar system but after waiting a year without a date, I decided to go with home smart, after waiting less than a month system all fitted and all I can say is quality from the office staff to the boys who fitted the system. I would high recommend

The staff were very helpful. I am really pleased with my new battery and it is helping me make savings with my existing solar panels.

The installation was carried out quickly. The communication was good. The work was carried out at the time arranged. The quality monitoring seems to be good to. Apparently there was a small problem with the original electrical installation although it was working. However this was picked up by the company and an electrician came and sorted it out.

Very pleased with the installation, from survey to generation. All explained as the team worked. Surprised how quick it was all completed. As soon as the switch was thrown we began generating. I would have liked a bit more instruction on the Solis app were the little dots roaming around. Trying to set up the SEG with EON now.

This is a shout out to HomeSmart Technical Team's Leo, who provided excellent support in helping us to restart the system and get the online monitoring system for our solar battery storage back online. I am not computer literate and spoke to three different advisors, all treated me patiently and explained the programming in a language that was clear and easy for me to follow.
Nothing was too much trouble and I am more than satisfied with the outcome.

Fast and efficient, solar panels installed 2 weeks ago 3 weeks after survey as promised, all paperwork supplied in my own secure drive where easily accessible, SEG now on thanks to some help from the lovely office team. I believe we were quite fortunate to be in the UK power network area as they work a bit faster. Highly recommend this company

Really poor customer service post installation. We have had too many alarms on the system to count. Had to have an electrician back once. Currently nearly 3 weeks off grid since the last alarm so not generated anything in that time. Tech support keep saying they need answers from Solis. Just get excuses about how many other customers are also needing tech help. Not sure if we had a poor installation or poor equipment but we’ve paid out a lot of money and it doesn’t work consistently. Unacceptable to be left this long without it being fixed. No talk of compensation for losses. Feels like they take the money for the installation then don’t care.

After an inspection of our system which detected a faulty electrical installation Home Smart Energy rectified the issue, cut ties with the electrical subcontractor and have a good will payment for lost generation of electricity. The end result was definitely to our satisfaction.

Poor service, bad advice on amount of panels and batteries which meant we had to significantly downgrade the installation. Aftercare is terrible, scaffolding not removed over 3 months later, boards moved in the wind causing damage and no response to repeat emails. No correct documentation or clarity on how to reclaim for feed in. We still have scaffolding, likely damage and are still not getting rebates.

All aspects of the job were well done; on time, excellent workmanship, surveyor modified original plans to suit actual site which reduced the cost
