Me and my mother had a distressing experience at the paddingtion square store on wednesday 29th April around 11:00 am. My mother and I were followed by a male staff member from the moment we entered. He was the only worker there. While white customers were left to shop in peace, we were singled out and questioned immediately.
The situation escalated when the same employee left paying customers at the till just to follow us to another section. He stood inches away from us, pretending to fix a tidy display as a cover for monitoring us. When my mother later asked him why he did this, he lied and claimed he was helping with "self-checkout," but he immediately went back to serve the people at the till as soon as we left.
This was clear racial and religious profiling as me and my mother were visibly muslim and ethnic. We felt targeted and unwelcome. I would advise ethnic and Muslim shoppers to be cautious here

For many years, I have loved shopping with H&B. I recommended H&B to family and friends but in the last month, I've had issues with online purchasing.
The last couple of months I have purchased stuff online and arranged for store collection. While purchasing online, shipping costs were €2.99 for click and collect and €4.99 to have product shipped to home address. I chose click and collect as store was a few mins away
I found lately, that when I purchased online, my purchase request was dealt with, within a couple of hours to a day. Quite impressive. I queried it and found that my orders were being processed in store as the product was in stock. But H&B were not refunding me the click and collect fee. Nothing was being mentioned back to me.
I sent in a customer query about it and was told that I should be receiving a refund of €2.99 since my order was processed in store. €2.99 was only applied to when product is not in store and has to be shipped to the store. I, also, queried this with store staff and they said that the click and collect fee only applies for when the product is shipped to the store when product is not in stock in the store
Customer support refunded my the fee. I purchased product again this month and again, my request was processed in store. H&B didn't refund my click and collect fee. I queried it again and a H&B robot replied, stating that since my product purchase was processed in store, I must go back to the store and claim it. I wasn't happy with this. Why isn't this click and collect fee not removed when in store processing is being carried out, thereby saving the customer having to ask for the refund of the fee.
I returned the product purchase and received a refund for my purchase. I submitted a complaint about it and requested my account be closed and my email address be removed from their mailing lists. I received an email stating that the click and collect fee is only refunded when I purchased product over €25. Clearly the support rep doesn't know the rules of click and collect fee, when store staff and a robot both state that the click and collect fee is refunded when the request is processed in store.
What is most annoying is that H&B don't let the customers know about the click and collect refund entitlement for when their online purchase is processed in store. Therefore, H&B are making a profit of the click and collect fee for requests that are processed in store. I can only surmise how much they are making on this.
I was informed that I am the only one who has complained about it.
H&B, just lost a customer. Don't like being ripped off for online purchases being processed in store.

I have been going to Holland & Barrett for a number of years. I am a cardholder. I generally like your range, although I know they are overpriced. But, hey-ho, you should expect to pay more for good products. I particularly like your Wasabi Peas and your Rice & Peanut Crackers.
Except they are 'Kelly Loves' range and not H&B. You should learn from that.
So I generally like your products.
Except yesterday.
I bought a packet of your 'Courgette & Pepper Chips.'
What can I say?
I actually ate cardboard as a dare in my youth. And it didn't cost me anything. But this product did.
Absolutely no flavour, no taste - just like eating cardboard again.
And by saying 'chips' I was hoping for crunchy. Not for this unseasoned, limp result.
It must have taken a lot of time in the food laboratory to accept this as something that was 'edible.' Maybe the whole taste team was off that day? Probably.
And, to be honest, it brought back long-forgotten memories. Absolutely the worst thing I have ever eaten, apart from - of course - that sheep's eyeball I ate in Egypt because I was told it was a delicacy.
But this came a close second.
I can't believe you are actually selling this crap. You need to remove it from your products ASAP.
What are you thinking?

The customer service from Holland and Barrett was first class after I had an issue with a damaged parcel delivery from them , there were no quibbles, just a full apology and refund.

I bought some paracetamol in H&B Haywards Heath. They were on special offer - 44p a packet. I bought two and the cashier rang up 98 pence. I pointed out that it should have been 88 pence. A colleague (manager?) appeared and argued the toss, first saying that the offer only applied to one packet and then making a show of going to the shelf to check the price. Then he grudgingly told the cashier to give me my change, muttering in my hearing that it was a lot of fuss for 10p. Avoiding eye contact throughout, he was disagreeable, rude and offered no apology. For me, it was not about the 10p but about the principle of labelling a product at one price and then changing it when you get to the till.

I'm really disappointed that us with serious health issues are being ignored in a promotion. When looking up Faith In Nature fragrance free shampoo 5L on hte H&B website - you can see that the ONLY product in the whole line of shampoos and conditioners that isn't on offer is this is the fragrance free shampoo! It's well known that this product is incredibly vital for people with severe allergies to fragrances, and if you're poorer, like me, there's not any other alternatives. Why would this be an exclusion when arguably it's the most important item in the entire line? I try and buy this for my family as the alternative outcomes that varying between family members is psoriasis and skin burns/rashes with fragrances. Unfortunately, I contacted Faith In Nature and they say that Holland & Barrett is now virtually the only place you can buy the Fragrance Free range in bulk! So you have the monopoly but withold reasonable discounts from allergy sufferers.
To make matters worse, I've just gotten off the chat with a rep (after having to insist with speaking to a human with AI bots) who has informed me that there is no other way to get in contact about a complaint I have. They kept repeating the same bot-like / tick-box answers, some messages completely in error (like starting the conversation again by tick-boxing an introductory message - at the end of the chat). I appreciate that customer support these days are limited to needing to stick to scripts to cut costs down, but I hope H&B realise that for a 'health and wellness-forward' brand, they're losing the last ounce of humanity in their support. I have noticed a discrepancy RE the shampoo on the website that makes no sense, and the customer support person was insisting that there is literally no-one else that can help me! I worked at Boots for 12 years and know that it's never a dead end with any customer representative. I don't appreciate being lied to and gatekept from an obvious error - and if it isn't an error, it's not much to ask that this be changed for obvious reasons listed above...
I'm a frequent customer of H&B, please don't fall to the lows of other retailers because you have the monopoly on health items.
