Awful experience - while the tradie who turned up -late - was nice enough and did an ok job - when I rang his boss to find out why he wasn't doing the 3 hours I had paid for I got an abusive aggressive shouting bloke who thought it was ok to yell at a woman who had employed them - "hire a 1950s hubby who thinks women should know their place "more like

We do NOT recommend Hire a Hubby and believe that their 100% workmanship guarantee is very misleading. We had our Ensuite and bathroom renovated by Hire a Hubby Westernport in October-December 2022. The workmen were polite and completed the job within the specified timeframe. On first impressions the work looked good however unfortunately it did not pass the test of time. In March 2024 we became aware of a major leak in our ensuite. We contacted Hire a Hubby Westernport about the issue. Upon inspection they believed that the leak was caused by gaps in the silicone in the shower base. They re applied the silicone. As the shower continued to leak we contacted our insurance and they sent a leak detection company to find the source of the leak. A section of plaster from our walk in robe was removed to see if we could see if the water was coming from the walls or shower niche. The leak detection company found that the water was coming from the water waste pipe under the shower. The official building report stated “ It is both the specialists and my professional opinion if the waste pipe was securely installed water would not have escaped and damages would not have occurred.” Our insurance told us we needed to contact the builder who completed the work to rectify the damage under warranty. We contacted Hire a Hubby Westernport informing them of the findings and officially asked them to rectify the situation. We received a reply stating that they would not honour the warranty as we had made modifications to the ensuite. This is NOT true. We then sent a letter to Hire a Hubby head office and received a reply that they would not cover us as it was 2 years since the bathroom was completed. Hire a Hubby also stated that our issue was not a workmanship issue as ‘It had been TAMPERED with since HAH Westernport completed the works.’ They still fail to tell us how we have ‘Tampered’ with the ensuite. We are severely disappointed by the response by Hire a Hubby Westernport and the Hire a Hubby Head Office. We do NOT recommend this company in any way.

He turned up looked at the job, advised he would order the parts required…that was over a month ago…Left him messages and he doesn’t even bother returning my calls.
I’d give him no stars if it were possible

Very disappointing experience - we did a job for them and never got paid for it!

Tim and Mel are a pleasure to work with. Wouldn't recommended anyone else to work with for all renovations big or small.

A person turned up eventually to look at the work we needed doing to our block paving. He previously gave us some story about his phone having been in the washing machine and he'd lost all our info. He eventually found it somewhere and came to see us, he stayed quite a while and we told him if he wasn't interested in doing the job then tell us we wouldn't be offended, he then disappeared said to give him a couple of days and he'd get back to us but he never did, we had to get in touch with him and he told us we would need a new patio area being laid which was out of his remit!!! A total letdow why wasn't he just truthful with us in the first place???

I used the hire a hubby service from a provider at Glenunga SA and he was initially friendly and helpful, Despite providing an average service. (ie paving was uneven) I was happy to have the job completed. I paid top price for him and his wife to complete the job on Sunday (days later than had been agreed) and doneunevenly. I was okay to accept the job was and paid top dollar! I then needed the person to return to put 2 rows of pavers (approx 20) and he charged over $400. Following this he never returned my calls for future work that had been agreed to. This person no longer responded to emails or explained why? I tried contactacting HAB customer service only to be told they could not (or did not want to?) assist with finding me an alternative maintenance person. I have heard other stories of people being taken advantage of by HAH but am shocked it happed to me.

Asked for a quote to dismantle old shed and erect new shed, received automatic acknowledgement saying someone would get in touch approx 3-4 weeks ago - job done by someone else - would NOT recommend. At least if too busy or not interested let the person know!

I would of given a 5/5 but the concreting work i recieved was terrible. I had another concreting contractor come and look at the job and he agreed i could of done a better job myself without experience. Im not sure HH have builders that can do everything, its better to say they can't do it then muck it up.

Waited 2 weeks to get hire a hubby South Brisbane out. I had to ring twice as had no response to the initial request. Tom finally came out, was 40 mins late & then spent half an hour looking over all jobs required & measuring up. Promised to send a quote through which never came. Text him several times 5 days later reminding him of the quote & he never so much as bothered to respond. Just disgusting. Unprofessional & an absolute waste of my time

Hire a hubby Paddington Brisbane, came out and looked at a variety of jobs said he would send a quote, more than a week later no quote phoned up the lady said sorry and would send a quote more than 3 weeks later no quote. Hire a hubby on its website number one focus is customer service what a load of BS

Left the guttering job with leaking joints.
I had to pay for a professional to come out and do the job properly.
They take on any job whether they are competent or not.
Steer clear of Hire a Hubby

They refused to refund my deposit after after I got sick of Hire A Hubby Upwey rescheduling dates over 20 times in a 174 day period (only 90 days of this were covid lockdown related) and failure to provide 95% of the services. Called Hire A Hubby main call centre for support and they messed this up even more. Was assigned a "Field Manager" who although pleasant, was totally ineffective. Scary husband and wife team who got menacing and coercive after being challenged for a remedy under Australian Consumer Law. Will now be taking Hire A Hubby Upwey to VCAT for breaches of same law and deceptive and misleading conduct.

I hired Rodney (Rod) Weller to fit a trim under my metal fence. While doing this, he scratched the fence in multiple noticeable places. He proceeded to blame me for causing the scratches, even though they stretched down behind the trim he’d fitted hours ago. When informed about the damage, he arrived at my gate insisting to be let in to discuss it when I’d told him to arrange a *mutually* convenient time and that I was busy that day. He became intimidating in his persistence and refusal to come back later, so I refused him entry, and instead I sent video footage on email and asked that he send someone else from the franchise to view it. He ceased communicating, instead instructing debt collectors on an as yet unresolved issue, chasing a reduced bill rather than accepting liability, and threatening court action. We shared footage with the franchise’s Queensland manager, Simon Vorley, who said he and other staff agreed the damage was caused by Rod, that he was wrong in his handling of the situation, and they apologised on his behalf. We asked Simon to speak with Rod because he could damage the wider franchise’s reputation, and we asked for a direct apology. Simon demanded I pay and only then would he ask Rod to consider this. We paid the agreed amount. At no point did we receive an apology or accountability from Rod.

Guy turned up for a quote (Blakehurst) and was nice enough. Advised he’d send me a quote. Never heard back. Text messages were ignored. He should have shown some integrity by declining the job on the spot if it wasn’t worth his while.
Probably was a blessing as I found Adam, an independent handyman who did an amazing job at an incredible price.
