I have already written a review 5th Dec 2025 about this awful company and wish I had checked them out before making my purchase. I have not received any refund but have just received my parcel which I had returned to China at a cost of £26 bounced back to me unopened. Now out of the 120 day period for my Bank to investigate. I shall never buy online again without thoroughly checking the company. Now out of pocket £85.42 a hard lesson learned!

Items are awful.
I was promised a full refund if I returned my items which I did. It took 5 months for them to clear customs and arrive at the distribution point.
A parcel just arrived back which is no doubt full of the same tat. NO REFUND. These people are crooks.

i had the same experience that everyone here is complaining about. I contacted them several times by email but never got a reply. The only difference is I filed a claim with my credit card company for a chargeback and they are investigating this at the moment. i would encourage you all to do the same as someone needs to stop their scam.

This is a scam. They don’t merit 1 star. I was taken in by the website and the store being in Brighton. There is no Brighton store - all items are shipped from China and returns have to be to China at great cost and delay. The loafers were cheap and nasty and nothing like the photos. I requested a refund and was offered alternative items but had seen this reviews. Has anyone seen a new website Caroline of Brighton - look familiar?

Please be careful ordering from this company. I ordered 2 pairs of shoes. Came very promptly,,but they were very narrow fitting. So sent them back. I've not heard anything from this company. Nor did I get my money back sadly. A loss of 84pounds they should not be allowed to operate. And facebook should look into this company

DO NOT BE FOOLED. Absolutely a scam. My purchase was a load of tat. £35 of my hard earned money down the pan. On 9 January I have spent a further £20.70 to return it to China as a matter of principle. These rogue companies should not be allowed to get away with their fraudulent misrepresentation. I’ve just checked Royal Mail tracking and it is still awaiting customs clearance, see below…

BE AWARE DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE If I could give zero stars I would! I feel an absolute idiot! The shoes I thought I was ordering looked nice but when received they are nothing like the picture, in fact the whole website is fake! Hazel & May in Brighton are not in Brighton they are in china! Impossible to arrange a return and refund! I’m out of pocket by just over £50! The shoes are terrible, the stitching is all off the shape is disgraceful and the smell!! They send email updates saying they are being handmade and that’s why they take a while, when in fact they take a while because they are coming from China! Absolutely shocking that the website is still up! What’s laughable as well is you think the picture on the website is Hazel & May! DO NOT ORDER!

Let me start by saying I'm pretty p***ed off with myself for falling for this mis-sell. A multitude of e-mails received telling me how they were processing my order lovingly making my shoes, which quite frankly sounded the alarm bells. The shoes arrived and are, just as everyone else has said, shockingly bad.

The fight for a refund has begun, but somehow I think I am going to have to invest £15 in return postage to get the refund.

Worse product I've ever received! The whole experience of ordering from Hazel and May, a Chinese company, based in a Zhejiang warehouse, disguised as a "small boutique in Brighton — a place built on pieces we truly loved and believed in. offering quality goods", can only be described as infuriating, as you end up feeling conned by a dishonest scam.
The actual shoes I received were not "handmade to order" as advertised, but a cheap, poorly made, ill fitting product, too uncomfortable to wear
The website claim of easy returns is also far from the truth - too expensive to risk and I am not prepared to lose a penny more to this company.
I wish I had read the disgruntled customers reviews on Trustpilot before placing an order and I hope that potential customers will not be duped in the way I have been.

Should have read reviews first! Ordered two pairs of shoes, both received after some 3-4 weeks and various emails telling me "shoes are being designed / created etc etc", which seemed weird considering I expected quick delivery from Brighton. Both pairs arrived, look OK, but one pair is too big despite same size. Have a strange smell, bit like walking into Timpsons! Emailed back to ask for exchange to smaller size, got reply to say if i pay for shipping cost of £15.50(!) then they will send 2nd pair and i can KEEP the bigger size as "goodwill". Clearly based in China. Now not sure if I want to risk £15.50 .....
Don't buy is my advice to others.

I ordered the shoes at the beginning of November from the site on Facebook - big error! They were delivered somewhere, but not to my address, as the Yodel photo showed. I have tried to be repaid ever since, but all I receive are AI-generated responses which do not relate to my emails. I shall have to get my credit card to reimburse me as I'm obviously never going to get any sense from these frauds.

I ordered a Christmas sweatshirt from Hazel and May (£34.95). What arrived was poor quality - thin material, badly finished seams and a flat printed design instead of the sparkly stitched look shown online. It was clearly not as described.
Delivery was late, and when I complained, they refused a full refund. Instead they offered store credit, partial refunds, or a replacement (with me paying shipping). They also told me to return it to China at my own cost.
Despite explaining my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, they continued to avoid issuing a proper refund.
Very disappointing - poor product and worse customer service. I wouldn’t buy from them again.
Update: After the company refused to provide a lawful refund, I raised a chargeback with my bank. The claim was successful and the retailer did not contest it.

Company claim to be based in Brighton but order was shopped from overseas (China?). Ordered a lovely looking Christmas jumper early December. It finally arrived 2 days before Christmas and was absolutely not what I expected. It's not a jumper but is a sweatshirt which has been poorly made and finished. It's nigh on impossible to return items to the company. I have reluctantly kept the top and one of the many emails received from the company to remind me NEVER to order from this company again. If I could give them zero points I would.

Cheap nasty smelly plastic shoes which have got to be returned to China. Scam and they took weeks to arrive.

As everyone else has said, this company is not Brighton based, but appears to be based in China. The shoes I unfortunately purchased are a bad imitation of what is shown on the website. Not only are they rubbish quality they have also sent the wrong size so I can't even cut my losses and wear them to the supermarket. I am attempting to get a refund... wish me luck! I'm not holding my breath. Avoid at all costs.

Like an idiot, I was duped by this site. There's no store in Brighton, nor are the items handmade to order. Shabby goods are shipped from China whilst they send emails lying that the items are being 'curated' by their artisans.
I challenged them on email and received some ridiculously ludicrous reply. Next stop Trading Standards!

I should have looked at Trustpilot before ordering from this company believing they were in Brighton in the UK, not China. The shoes are dreadful and smell of some chemical. They are not suitable for wear and cost a lot compared to what they cost to make. After many emails I have finally got nowhere with any kind of refund. Please NEVER BUY FROM THIS SITE. I have friends in the customs dept who are looking into their company so hopefully they will be shut down
