I highly recommend Harriet's Plants. Aside from the extremely important sustainability aspects of business (which is the main reason why I shop here), the plants I have bought have all been carefully packaged (plastic free of course), are really healthy, and are growing beautifully (peat-free)!

Such a joy to find this site producing and supplying houseplants (and other useful garden/plant related items) in the UK. My order, of 2 houseplants and some pots made from recycled materials, was dealt with promptly and arrived in good condition. I was most impressed with the fact that all the packaging material was either compostable, recyclable or most intriguing, dissolvable - the "packing peanuts" made from potato starch really do dissolve in water on the compost heap!!

Great plants and customer service, arrived very well packed in recyclable and compostable packaging. All plants are peatfree, definitely the way forward.

Really happy with the plants received. All in excellent condition. I like the fact that my smaller plants were supplied in coir pots, with only the Aspidistra coming in a plastic container (due to its large size and weight). All plants packed very, very carefully in fully recyclable materials - ((all in my compost bin) thank you - NO plastic to get rid of). Plant care instructions comprehensive. Plants are smallish - but I don't mind that - I'm looking forward to growing these on. Nice to see a plant company with true environmental ethics. Too many plants from garden centres are grown on far too quickly and end up dying as a result. Decided to switch to Harriets plants, and we will definitely be buying more in the future.

My three house plants arrived very quickly, beautifully wrapped and in excellent condition. It is great to buy plants from Harriet, who is clearly so passionate about what she does, and who has such strong ethical beliefs.

I recently ordered two plants from Harriet - and she added in another for free! The key reason for me ordering was that all plants are peat-free. However I was also so pleased to see all packaging is either compostable or recyclable. The plants arrived very well packaged with a lovely hand written note. I will definitely order again :)

Today, I received three gorgeous plants that have clearly been lovingly cared for. I landed on Harriet’s Instagram and from there navigated to her website and the first thing that caught my eye, other then the plants, was the prices! After I’d added everything in stock to my cart, I reigned things in and compromised with three.

One of my biggest issues with buying online is the shipping time. To date most of my purchases have been shipped from Holland which leads to my plants being kept in a box for 5-7 days and then weeks if not months of TLC to help them deal with the stress they’ve endured. Harriet’s peat free plants, being grown and sent from within the UK, were shipped and literally arrived the next day! I suspect they won’t have even noticed they were in a box!

This leads me to packaging. If I had to guess, Harriet packs each box herself. My plants were so well protected, they’d have survived the apocalypse. Her method is eco-friendly and results in practically 0 waste.. The packing peanuts disappeared with a bit of water! Why other suppliers don’t ship like this is beyond me, I’m sure her method not only improves the plants protection but also helps maintain a warmer temperature, once again reducing the chances of shock, not to mention the lack of plastic. If her plants had thumbs they’d certainly be up.

Finally, the personal touch. Dealing with competitors both large and small, I’ve found the service, more often then not, to be clinical. Think calling a utilities company at 7pm on a Monday evening. I messaged Harriet with questions and she responded to each with passion. She loves her work, my entire experience is evidence of this.

In the last years Harriet’s Plants supplied my allotment with veg plugs along with some very valued advice. The vegetable plants have turned out to be extremely productive and very healthy. I also love that I can pick from varieties of veg that are less mainstream. Not only has Harriet a great business and a commendable ethos with her peat-free movement. She is also such a lovely, cheerful and helpful person. I am a massive fan of Harriet’s Plants, my go-to plant supplier which I wholeheartedly recommend!

I honestly hate plants but I can’t stop buying them from Harriet.

My interactions with plants before this year have been limited to pulling the toxic ones out of my horses fields, but all of Harriet’s little babies are so beautiful I can’t even resist. It’s like a green mist descends over my eyes - a few taps on my phone and the next thing I know, she’s at the door with a box of tiny emerald darlings that are just crying out for me to squash them into my designated plant corner in my stupidly small porch. I’ve resisted letting them into the house yet, but it won’t be long.

And for a plant idiot like me, Harriet herself is just a dream. She’s the most approachable green witch I’ve ever met, doesn’t give me withering looks when I ask stupid questions (wouldn’t blame her for the odd eye roll here and there but there’s not even a hint of it), gives me all the advice a seasoned plant murderess like me could need to change my bloodthirsty ways, and her enthusiasm and joy in her business is so infectious…I think I might actually be starting to like plants.

Go buy some of Harriet’s Plants. They’re awesome and so is she.

Everyone who loves plants should be introduced to Harriets Plants. Fully sustainable and leading the peat-free movement from the front, this business deserves more than 5 stars. An inspiration. Plants are always received perfectly, sustainably packaged, and the community around the company is a reflection of the love Harriet gives to the greenhouse.
