Personally I found survey report not the easiest to follow, the invoicing system coul be simpler. This should not detract from my satisfaction with the work done.

Poor attitude re doing a good job
Had both kitchen sink and bath tub with blockages. They looked very nice and professional on the phone. Contractor came, unblocked the bath, but then refused to do any work to unblock kitchen sink. First he said the access pipes under sink had turns so the rod couldn’t get through. Then when we suggested accessing from behind the washing machine, he pushed back even though we said we’d move the machine ourself. He also said we’d have to pay twice the quote we had accepted because this was a separate blockage, so separate job. He left, leaving us with the kitchen drain still blocked. We were still charged the original quote. Pimlico Plumbers came and their rod found its way straight away and they did the job. I can accept when contractors are incompetent. That happens. But not putting in their best effort and charging customers when the job hasn’t been done?

Many thanks for your reply. I’ll give you A LOT of credit and command your policy of charging a fixed price, and a reasonable one. However; (1) It’s all about managing customers’s expectations, isn’t it? I explained clearly what the issue(s) were. And when the contractor came, he first went to the kitchen (on a higher floor) to try and unblock it before going back to the bathroom. (2) He was unwilling to help unblock the kitchen drain even though I accepted the additional charge. You charged me about £120. I paid Pimlico Plumbers £405. Yes, they are far more expensive and on another day, you would probably be my hero as you might be for many others, saving them a lot of money. But I’ll repeat, the contractor that came had a poor customer service mentality. He might also have been incompetent or have the wrong equipment. One ends up accepting to pay far more to avoid a repeat of that experience and the huge waste of time, having to stay at home a full day. I wish you the very best. We want to see companies like your succeed. I’m sure you’ll learn from the experience.

We operate a fixed price policy per blockage. This means each separate blockage is treated as an individual job. Where more than one blockage is present, additional time, equipment, and effort are required, and we charge accordingly. This is a fair and transparent approach that ensures we can continue to provide professional services while covering our costs.
In your case, the bathroom blockage was cleared under the original agreed price. The kitchen blockage, however, was a separate issue and therefore not included within the original quotation. Our engineer correctly explained that this would require additional work and a separate charge.
I appreciate that you may have felt disappointed, but it would not be reasonable for us to provide additional services beyond the agreed work without charging. While we regret that this caused frustration, we must be clear that we cannot provide something for nothing — unfortunately, business does not work that way.
That said, I will be reviewing the situation with the attending engineer to ensure everything was communicated clearly and handled professionally.
Thank you again for your comments. We will take them into account as we continually aim to provide a fair, honest, and professional service.
