Packing
While most of our clients start off thinking they’ll pack everything themselves, packing can be a much bigger job than most people realise.
It’s easy to underestimate how long you need to set aside to get ready for your move. For example, if you’ve got a three bedroom property, you’re likely to need around 40 packing boxes.
If it takes you on average 20 minutes to pack a box, you could spend at least 14 hours packing.
Self storage
If you want easy access to your belongings, take a look at our sister company Plymouth Self Storage.
You can choose the amount of storage space you need, and how long you want it for.
Once you’ve got your storage space, you’ll have access to it six days a week with no extra charges.

Thank you, Mr Fuller, for your fantastic 5-star review. We're delighted that we could support you throughout what sounds like a stressful and uncertain moving process.
Property moves don't always go according to plan, so we're pleased our team was able to remain flexible and patient while everything came together. It's great to hear that the loading and unloading went smoothly and that the team provided a brilliant service from start to finish.
We really appreciate your kind words and your trust in Hackworthy. We hope you're settling well into your new home and wish you all the very best for the future.

Hackworthy did an amazing job!
Hackworthy did an amazing job!! Their confident, can do attitude helped us through an enormously stressful time and achieved what looked to be a near impossible removal!
We could not have managed without the packing service which saw years of accumulated stuff disappear into boxes at lightening speed. One very small improvement would perhaps be the better labelling of boxes and their more accurate relocation at the destination.
However, overall, Hackworthy lived up to their excellent reputation and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to other house movers. Our thanks to the entire team for a challenging job very well done!!

The Hackworthy Team
Hackworthy & Sons are First Class !
From the initial meeting when Kevin came to view our removal job, Cornwall to Devon, to the unloading of the very last box(of many) at our new home, this company was head and shoulders above any other we have used in the past. This was our 18th move! and now in our 70's we think it will be our last but, should we ever have to move again we would most certainly use Hackworthy & Sons and would highly recommend them to anyone moving.
Always calm and patient everyone we spoke to in the office instilled a sense of ease and confidence while we waited for the dreaded solicitors to exchange and give us a date. Then came move day.... we had a team of three, all worth there weight in gold. Happy, thoughtful and polite they were indeed a very professional team and a joy to be around. When we had finally unpacked the last box, 3 weeks later, I am delighted to report not one item had been damaged. Even my "instant garden of numerous pots and troughs survived. Well done ALL at Hackworthy's you are SIMPLY THE BEST! very many thanks B and H .

From initial contact and a couple of queries all of the staff at Hackworthy were absolutely brilliant. It's the first time we felt confident with someone else in charge. We needed to move over 2 days and both teams of movers were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, they took so much care of all our belongings and we all had a good laugh at the same time which took most of the stress away. Thank you everyone and we would definitely recommend you to other people.

Move from near Looe to Peterborough.
From the initial consultation with Kevin the whole experience of dealing with Hackworthy & Sons was amazing. They were punctual, friendly and extremely professional. I can only recommend them to anyone reading this. A special mention to our crew of Dave, Tom and driver Jason. Tom on day one, and Dave and Jason for both days of our move plus a long journey. We could not believe how hard they worked, and were amazed at their cheerfulness in the heat and having to deal with what can only be described as a mountain of heavy boxes!!!! Sorry guys.

Our experience with Hackworthy & Sons…
Our experience with Hackworthy & Sons Ltd was nothing short of outstanding.
After being let down by a well-known regional removal company just one week before our move, we found ourselves in a very stressful situation. We needed a full three-day service, including packing, moving and unpacking, and were desperately searching for a reliable alternative. We contacted Hackworthy hoping they might be able to help.
From the very beginning, they were fantastic. Rather than making promises they couldn't keep, they first checked their provisional bookings before confirming they could take on the job – something I only wish our original removal company had done. They got back to us the following day with confirmation, and from that point onwards everything was handled professionally. Communication was excellent, invoicing was straightforward, and we already felt confident we had made the right decision before moving day even arrived.
The move itself exceeded all expectations. The packing team worked incredibly quickly and efficiently, taking great care to ensure everything was packed securely and protected throughout the move. The moving process itself was seamless, and the unpacking service was equally impressive. The team listened carefully to where everything needed to go, were exceptionally organised, and worked unbelievably hard despite it being the hottest day of the year. Nothing was too much trouble, and their positive attitude made what could have been an incredibly stressful experience feel remarkably easy.
The offer to collect all the empty boxes once we'd finished unpacking was another thoughtful touch that really demonstrated their excellent customer service.
We honestly couldn't have been happier with the service we received. Professional, friendly, hardworking, efficient and competitively priced, Hackworthy exceeded our expectations in every way. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a removal company.

We will be sure to pass your kind words on to everyone involved.

hackworthy was subcontracted by the…
hackworthy was subcontracted by the International movers i had hired to do the packing and loading to the shipping container. I had so much broken and damaged goods on arrival and i could tell that one expensive piece in particular had been dropped on its head or packed upside down as opposed to on its side. I had impact damage that told me my entire load had shifted enroute.
After they packed up and left, i noticed they had not packed an entire cupboard and i was told that it was my fault as i was expected to be their unpaid supervisor. I have also noticed since arriving at my internationsl destination that an entire box of my Corningware casserole dishes is missing but no point in saying anything as the two companies point the finger at each other and in the end would only blame me.
Use at your own peril.

We’re sorry to read about your experience, as this is certainly not the standard of service we aim to provide.
At present, we do not have enough information to confirm whether this relates to a job carried out by our team, as we regularly undertake work both directly and as subcontractors on behalf of international movers.
For context, when we are subcontracted, our role is typically limited to specific services such as packing and loading, under the instruction and management of the primary moving company. We do, however, always take care in handling items and we consistently carry out work for many clients without reports of damage or missing items.
We understand how frustrating it must be to receive goods in a damaged condition or to discover items missing on arrival, particularly after an international move involving multiple parties. Unfortunately, without further details, it’s difficult for us to determine where responsibility may lie in this instance.
We always aim to assist customers and address concerns where we can, so if you are able to provide more information about the job, we would be happy to look into this further. Please email us on enquiries@hackworthy.co.uk.

The removal team were hard working and very helpful..My things were moved into storage. When they arrived to my permanent address several items were damaged,it appeared that they had suffered water damage while in storage.
There was also a chip to a wooden table and a large chunk taken out of a bookcase. I claimed but was told that dud to the excess I could not get any compensation. Disappointing service while in storage, better care should havd been taken. I can't in all honestly recommend them.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.
We’re pleased to hear that you found our removal team hardworking and helpful, and we appreciate you acknowledging this.
We’re sorry to learn of your concerns regarding the condition of some items following storage. All items were stored in line with our standard procedures, and when your claim was reviewed, it fell below the policy excess, which is why compensation was not payable. However, I note that some of the items listed in your review were not part of your initial claim.
We aim to be clear and transparent about our terms and the claims process, both before and after a move. While it’s always disappointing when things don’t go as planned, we do our best to handle concerns fairly and work towards the best possible outcome.
As your review has been left while communication is ongoing, we remain happy to continue discussing any concerns directly and to review any additional information you feel may be relevant. Our aim is always to handle issues fairly and transparently.
Thank you again for your feedback, which we take seriously and use to review and improve our services.
