Green Motion is an international car and van rental brand with branches at airports, railway stations and city centres. We're part of Green Motion International, which operates more than 600 rental locations in over 80 countries across the Green Motion and U-Save brands.
Book online at greenmotion.com to see live prices, choose your vehicle and extras, and collect from the branch of your choice. Our fleet includes small city cars, family SUVs, people carriers and commercial vans, with lower-emission and electric models at many locations.
Before you travel
- Payment card: you'll need a credit card in the main driver's name for the security deposit. Accepted cards and deposit amounts vary by country and are shown before you book.
- Documents: bring your full driving licence and a valid ID. Some countries also need an International Driving Permit.
- Booked through a travel site? Check your voucher for what's included.

• the location you rented from
• a short summary of what happened, plus any photos or receipts
This lets our head office team review your rental record with the branch straight away, rather than coming back to you with questions. Deposit, charge and damage queries are all handled by the same team.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed. Booked a car for 9 days. Received emails to carry out online check in and followed as instructed. Scanned passport, driving licence, DVLA check code. Travelled to Edinburgh to pick up car for documents to be checked again, fair enough. Was then told driving licence photo was too dark for scanner so could not issue car. The driving licence was issued by DVLA who saw no issues with photo. No effort to try to assist or find a solution. They had the physical licence in front of them. Customer service advisor was extremely unhelpful. The only advice was try SIXT. I have my suspicions that if there was indications I was taking out the enhanced insurance cover then more of an effort would have been made. No effort at all to try to assist. I have hired cars numerous times with no issues.

Thank you for explaining what happened at Edinburgh Waverley. I understand how frustrating it was to complete online check-in, travel to the branch and then be unable to collect the car. Your account of the document check, the assistance offered and your concern about insurance deserves a careful review.
