I had a free membership that I never used, and over the years have recieved calls or offers to go up to premium. I finally decided to do so, but without speaking to my husband. I worked with a nice gal, Karen. This was 3/12
That evening, after speaking to my husband, he said that this wasn't an expense, nor the ability to use the points for travel in the required time frame. I knew that I had 14 days to cancel. I looked up how to cancel and the FAQ said to send a letter postmarked within the 10 days or supposedly you could cancel from the dashboard, but after 30 minutes, could not find a way to do so. So, I wrote a letter and took it to the post office on 3/16 and had it postmarked.
I tried calling several times to confirm. I've called my "agent" While I get a vm, it takes almost a minute to beep after she finishes speaking. I've called several times leaving msg. both before and after the beep. she did return one call, but I was at work. I have not been able to reach her since. I've also tried speaking to other agents, who told me that I would have to speak with her.
My premier account is active, with all the points they gave me still there. I feel scammed. I did what was required on my end to cancel within the 10 days.
I also looked at their costs for airlines, car rental, etc. and was able to find much cheaper on other sites.
I'm thinking of reaching out to a lawyer. There could definitely be a class action lawsuite against this company, as there are many complaints similar to mine on several platforms.

This company is an absolute fraud. They sell personal information and repeatedly harass you with constant phone calls, pressuring you to provide more information and spend money. They refuse to take no for an answer.

The harassment began after a simple inquiry about the company. Pay close attention to their reviews—many of the glowing five-star reviews appear to be fake and are likely used to bury legitimate one-star reviews that call out fraudulent behavior.

They provide no clear way to opt out of their phone calls or email lists, which is not legal. This is not a government or government-endorsed organization. It appears to be a scam targeting veterans.

When I joined the American Legion, I was offered a raft of benefits. Among these was deeply discounted travel and vacation at “exclusive resorts” only available to active and retired military. As I am a “one-and-done” veteran (i.e., not a retired career serviceman), I didn’t initially consider this perk. A few weeks later, I received a letter from Government Vacation Rewards bearing the caveat “FINAL NOTICE!!”. It purported to offer me a FREE MEMBERSHIP as a thank you for my service to my country.

I spoke to a fellow named Tung Vu who obsequiously gushed about how grateful he was that I served in uniform and promised me the moon (not literally) as a token of gratitude. He pitched what sounded like great deal and answered all of my questions with seeming sincerity. This was about a week before COVID-19 hit America’s shores. As I am a disabled veteran with service-connected asthma and over 65 years old, I was advised to not travel until further notice. Indeed, my VA providers ordered me to shelter in place for two solid years.

As soon as I got this word, I called Tung and asked him to pause my membership until I was cleared to travel. Despite the fine print of the contract stating that I had a month to back out, he said that he couldn’t do that. I wound up paying $1,500 for “savings dollars” and “bonus points” that expired before I was cleared to travel, and charged $29.00 per year to keep my membership alive.

My wife, it should be said, was skeptical from the start and urged me to shine on the whole scam. Like the fool I’ve always been and will likely always be, I refused to listen to her and plunked down the money. Since then, GVR has called and written to me countless times to offer a recharge of all my past points plus 50,000 more if I just pay them still MORE MONEY.

I have steadfastly told them that I won’t pay another dime until they deliver on the “benefits” that I’ve already paid for. The have said that those have expired and that they therefore cannot do so.

Were President Biden not so busy, I would ask him to put these charlatans out of business for scamming veterans, as I know he values us for the sacrifices we’ve made for our country. Since President Trump rightly pegged me as a sucker and a loser, I doubt that he would take my side against his fellow Floridian hucksters.
