Disappointments on group play
Came for a paintball session with a group of six friends. The staff were genuinely lovely and helpful throughout the day, and venue manager Megan did a fantastic job keeping things organised and welcoming – big credit to her and the team.
However, there were a few things that left us disappointed. Based on the wording on the website, we expected our group to be split 3 vs 3 and play only amongst ourselves. Instead, we were mixed into much larger games with other groups – including families with young kids and very experienced players. The skill level difference made some of our friends feel quite uncomfortable and out of their depth, which affected the enjoyment. We completely understand that mixed games may be standard practice, but the current wording could be clearer for future customers who may assume the same as we did.
The website also suggests that you’ll be playing with and against your friends – but in reality, with everyone wearing the same gear and masks, it was nearly impossible to tell who was on your team and who wasn’t. So even if you're technically split down the middle, that experience of ‘shooting at your mates’ doesn’t really play out in practice.
Later in the day we bought an extra 100 paintballs, but the bag felt quite light – we counted 91. The staff handled it really well when we mentioned it and resolved it straight away, so no hard feelings there, but it might be worth tightening quality control just to avoid any doubt.
Overall, a mixed experience. Brilliant staff and a well-run venue, but the lack of clear communication and uneven team mixing made the day less enjoyable than we’d hoped – especially for more casual or first-time groups.

In regards to team sizes and mixing, For clarity on this our game maps are huge and built for high-energy, exciting gameplay. If you were to just playing as a 3 vs 3, it wouldn’t provide anywhere near the same level of action or immersion. That’s why we combine groups to create bigger, better and more exhilarating matches, which is only ever a positive in terms of the overall experience.
When it comes to splitting teams, we always aim to keep things fair by dividing groups evenly to ensure the games are as balanced as possible. In your case, as your group was the last to arrive on the day, you were placed with the final field. This particular field was our family-based one, made up of families, children, and first-time players.
As we were aware that you hadn’t played paintball before, we deliberately avoided placing you with our more competitive adults’ field. We always team players based not only on age and group dynamics but also on ability and experience, to ensure everyone has the best possible time.
As far as team visibility goes - we completely get that it can be tricky to tell who’s who in the heat of the moment with everyone kitted out in goggle systems and camo’s.
That said, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re still playing with and against your mates! And that always leads to some great chats between games - and, of course, those all-important bragging rights at the end of the day!
In regards to the paintball count, we appreciate you letting us know, we have informed the manufacturer for further quality control, however Im really glad the team sorted it so quickly on the day.
With this all being said, it sounds like you had a really decent day, and 2* does feel a little harsh, additionally i do wish you had mentioned something to Megan, myself or anyone in the team as we could have chatted through this on the day.

I’ve played paintball before and always…
I’ve played paintball before and always had fun, safe experiences, but unfortunately, this Go paintball was a complete disappointment. We went as a group to celebrate a friend’s birthday and were initially charged £12.50 for entry. However, once we arrived, we were surprised with additional charges—£75 for paintballs and £10 for gloves. These basic essentials are typically included at other paintball venues, so being charged extra for everything felt unreasonable.
The biggest issue was not this, however, was safety. In return of high charged we was expecting good servies but at Go Paintball "costumes” provided were not actual protective gear—they were just thin, regular clothing, many of which were torn or worn out. There was no proper padding or protection offered. In my previous paintball experiences, the venues provided thick, well-maintained protective padded suits which is helpful to face paintballs hits and ensured a safe experience. Here, we felt completely opposite.
As a result, several of us were seriously injured. My friends had visible blood on their fingers and deep blood spots on body parts, and I personally suffered injuries on my hands and back. I agree, while a certain level of discomfort is expected in paintball, but not one should walk away bleeding or in real pain & injuries. What’s meant to be a fun and energetic activity turned into a distressing experience.
To make things worse, the staff were completely unhelpful. Despite telling them about our injuries, they did not take our concerns seriously. In fact, they pressured us to continue the game and failed to offer any first aid or immediate support, which was both unprofessional and irresponsible.
This entire experience felt poorly managed and unsafe. For the amount of money we paid, we expected basic standards of equipment, customer service, and safety. Sadly, none of these were met. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place if you’re looking for a fun, secure, and well-organized paintball outing.

I'm sorry to hear your disappointment with your recent Adult Paintball event for Sanket's Birthday. Stating you felt 'unsafe' or 'poorly managed' is very unusual feedback, so I wanted look into this and to reply personally to you. I’ve read through your review & our After Event Report, spoken with the team & I was also there, being the person who checked your group in in the morning.
Firstly, Package spend doesn't affect the service or effort from us, so regardless everyone receives the same service, just less or more Paintballs to shoot.
From our report, the most alarming thing is that a few of your group removed their Safety Goggle Systems multiple times. Our Managers were quick to act, and spoke with your group on a few occasions to keep you safe.
Safety Goggle removals are the most dangerous thing to ever do during Paintball games, and luckily super rare at our venue. They protect your face, head & most importantly your eyes. Our team took that seriously and responded exactly as they have been trained so I am very glad nothing worse happened to your group from breaking our Main Safety Rule on multiple occasions.
From that report, I’m confused how you’ve left feeling negative about the safety from us, when our team have done the opposite and gone full force to keep your group safe.
Our Camo suits are the same used worldwide for recreational Paintball games, made out of Ripstop with a padded collar. No-one would run with a fully ‘padded’ suit as it means players overheat with thick layers (like wearing too many thick clothing layers), sweating way too much causing vision issues. We advise against this as taking off Goggle Systems midgame is infinitely more dangerous than getting shot with a paintball.
Paintball hits are completely normal in this activity. Some shots can be worse than others depending on where you get shot & physical toughness of skin\likeliness to mark.
The shots your group received were normal paintball shots in usual Paintball games and wouldn't constitute as 'injuries', so you were encouraged to keep playing. We wouldn’t stop a game for this, or take someone off unless requested.
I’m sorry you felt ‘pressured’ to continue; our team want you to have a fun experience and help you back into the game post Respawn.
We wouldn’t encourage anyone to sit out after being shot, or administer first aid with no medical need to.
If players asked to go back to basecamp on the rare occasion they don't want to play, we would have of course done that and can sit out.
‘Bad’ shots are even rarer now, as we are one of the only venues in the World running the new technology, so our guns ‘lower impact’ compared to old tech most other companies still use.
We recently invested £100k+ to provide better and safer equipment for our customers, so suggesting we don’t care about customer safety is not the case.
This equipment is amazing for kids ages 10+, so for adults like yourselves the usual response is the complete opposite.
Most customers don’t choose to use gloves as they can affect the ‘handling’ of a gun, however normal gloves can be used and customers can bring their own. Some choose to buy Paintball gloves for £10 and are yours to keep.
On a customer care side note, our Report stated a player in your group felt they’d twisted their ankle running around during games; Dom, as our first aider, had provided multiple ice packs to ease any pain despite seeing no obvious swelling. I hope they were ok post event.
Overall I’m sorry you’ve left feeling this way. We never want customers to leave feeling negative about our team, especially after hosting you over a full day.
