I have used Go Walkabout for my trips to the USA. Reliable, affordable and friendly. On one occasion I had to apply for a payout. Obviously there is paperwork but they were true to their word. Ten out ten. 👍👍👍

Phone answered quicker and my travel insurance options laid out and it was easier to decide my needs.

I had a couple of administrative issues after I had taken the insurance out but they were dealt with very promptly.

Always a real person (Mark) to talk to on the phone. An easy to navigate website with clear contact details. What’s not to like?

I have bought travel insurance through Go Walkabout a couple of times, as I love that you can tailor the policies to your needs, depending on what type of travelling/holiday you are doing. In this case, I needed to extend my cover, and it was so easy to do, and great value too! I will definitely choose to buy insurance through the company again.

Used Go walkabout many times now ( as has my wife ) . Competitive prices and always great service ——-Informed and professional . Taken policies out both online and recently by phone . No nonsense quote for pre existing conditions which are bought prior to main policy which may be easier to be able to do with one agent . That said it’s only one extra call . Both agents were great !!! Also this company deducts the PTI charge if you don’t live in mainland UK , another bonus and obviously makes the final cost less . 10/10 yet again

Easy to talk to someone on the phone. Easy to take out all my questions answered. Had to ring another number for the health insurance screening but that wasn't a problem.

Go Walkabout use a company called Millstream as underwriters BEWARE this company who are part of Gallagher Bassett You will have great difficulty in obtaining any payout Please read their reviews. They are horrendous

I sadly cannot recommend this insurance company.
We were caught up in the 2024 Dubai floods and had flights delayed, cancelled, rescheduled, and missed due to the weather.

After finding our own way home, and paying for hotel rooms and flights to get back, the company decided to deny our claim over policy wording, dispite being covered for missed departures and travel disruption caused by "adverse weather conditions."

We found the claims process unnecessarily stressful, complicated, and drawn out. It took them months to get back to us with their decision.

We took our claim to the Financial Ombudsman Service who upheld our complaint and recommended this company accept and pay out for our original claim. They have not paid yet.

Throughout, it has taken weeks or even months for them to get back to us.
The underwriters behind the "Go Walkabout" front are AWP P&C SA.
I encourage you to research them before considering Go Walkabout to "cover" your travels.

I would recommend you look for cover elsewhere.

I had a great experience with Go Walkabout Travel Insurance. I was at the end of my tether trying to find a good insurance policy for my daughter who is going backpacking this week, all the trawling was getting confusing and no policy seemed to meet all of her needs. I saw an online review about GW call operators being really helpful so I called them myself asking for help. I spoke first to Andy and then to Mark and they were both brilliant. By the end of the first call to Andy he had given me a comparison of 3 of their policies and sent me the quotes by email to mull over with my daughter that evening. He had been very patient answering so many questions and listening to my many worries and put my mind at ease that one of their policies would be perfect for her. The email didn't come through so I called him back and he said he had sent it again and would call me back in 20 minutes to make sure it had arrived this time which was over and above my expectations. The next day I called again and Mark answered a few more questions and helped me to whittle the decision down to one policy which I then purchased. One of my biggest worries was that my daughter had someone to call and get advice from if she was worried about anything and knowing that she has Andy and Mark to call has put my mind at ease, as well as the 24 hour medical helpline which is yet to be tested but at least she has Andy and Mark to go to if she has any problems. The personal service I experienced was so rare and so refreshing that I had to write this review. Thank you both so much and GW for your fabulous customer service and care, it really does make a difference.

Excellent and thoughtful customer service. In difficult circumstances, Go Walkabout were very helpful and responded quickly to our needs. Would definitely recommend. Purchasing the original insurance from them online was also very efficient and straightforward.

Tried many travel insurance companies for summer camp cover in the USA with pre-existing medical conditions. I'd come to the end of the line then noticed this company. Whereas all other companies you were on hold for at least 20 minutes, they answered immediately, were very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Priced the best too! I'm so happy I found them and would highly recommend them. Can't praise them enough. Thank you for putting my mind at ease knowing that my daughter will be fully covered on her trip. Well done.
