Absolute Rip-Off – Misleading Advertising and Cheap Plastic Junk

I ordered two V8 engine kits from Gnarledy, Order XEV44934, and paid US$88.95 including shipping.

What was advertised and what was actually delivered are so completely different that I consider the whole experience an outrageous rip-off.

Their sales page presents the product as a serious DIY mechanical engine-building kit. The advertising shows packaging marked “Metal DIY Assembly Kit” and “Functional Assembly Model”, along with photos of numerous individual engine components. The description refers to precision-machined metal parts, CNC components, CDI ignition, movement, sound and an engine the customer assembles.

That is exactly what I believed I was buying.

What actually arrived was a cheap, substantially pre-assembled decorative replica packed in polystyrene foam.

No proper DIY engine kit.
No box of precision components.
No genuine mechanical assembly process.
No working ignition system.
No meaningful educational build experience.

In my view, the advertising is grossly misleading.

I photographed the parcel as I opened it, including the shipping carton, internal packaging and the product being removed, so there can be no argument about what was actually sent.

The most infuriating part is that I bought these so my son and I could build them together and he could learn how a V8 engine actually works. Instead, we received what is basically a cheap decorative toy.

Yes, the order confirmation contains the words “Non-functional Display Model”, but that does not excuse the rest of the sales page showing and describing a Metal DIY Assembly Kit, Functional Assembly Model, separate components and extensive mechanical functionality.

You cannot advertise one thing throughout a sales page and then hide behind contradictory wording after sending something vastly inferior.

I am now wasting my time taking photographs, writing complaints and pursuing a PayPal reversal just to recover money that should never have been taken for goods so different from what was represented.

I am absolutely disgusted with this company.

In my experience, Gnarledy’s advertising was deceptive, the product supplied was cheap junk compared with what was promoted, and the entire transaction has been a complete waste of time.

I would strongly warn anyone considering buying from Gnarledy to think very carefully before handing over any money. Take screenshots, pay only with buyer protection, and assume you may need to fight for a refund.

I would never buy from this company again.

Quelle arnaque ! J'ai acheté un kit de moteur V8 essence en métal de précision, censé être à monter soi-même d'après leur description. J'ai reçu une pièce en résine/plastique de très mauvaise qualité. Fuyez ces gens à tout prix ! Ce sont des escrocs !

I order a working model according to the video all I got was a piece of plastic and can’t get my money back fake products I would never from this site ever again so if you want to be ripped off then I would give them 5 stars🤬👎🏼

One star is as low as I can go - TOTAL SCAM.
The advert was for a fully working, assemblable miniture V8 engine - I received a very poor quality, plastic, single cast model!
Typical bait and switch.
Gnarledy are CHINESE SCAMMERS THAT GIVE DECENT CHINESE VENDORS ARE TRULY BAD NAME!

What an absolute scam!!! I purchaed what was supposed to be a metal precision made V8 gasoline mdoel engine kit which was supposedly able to be built from scratch according to their description. What I received was a resin / plastic cast which was of very poor quality - AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COST - THY ARE RIP OFF MERCHANTS!!!!!

Do not trust or buy from these thieves. Ordered a V8, assemblable, metal, engine model - got a block of wood, poorly painted I might add.
Took long over the delivery date, 17 days. They show NO customer reviews and don't bother trying to contact them. FAKE! FAKE! FAKE! Showed payment of $45.97 actually charged $65.43 on Visa...for a piece of wood. Oh that I could attach a picture here, you wouldn't believe it.

The item was for working motor, fully functional gas powered moter that you assemble. What was sent to me, was instead non working plastic model replica. The item was poorly made junk. I would never buy from this site again. You lie!!!! THE OLD BATE AND SWITCH

The review would show a minus if that were possible. I ordered a 16TB storage stick for $29.95 to be delivered in 7-10 days. Paid for through PayPal. Almost 3 weeks had passed, I opened a ticket with Paypal for Item Not Received, shortly after, the item arrived. A piece of junk, the pieces didn't fit together, I had to use my own cord to connect it to my laptop. I had to download each item separately, I tried to delete unwanted pictures of personal info but that was impossible. If I return it, this company will have personal info. I emailed the company, their response was wanting me to close my ticket with PayPal before they would address my concerns. This company is a scam. The cost of this item was advertised at $29.95, PayPal paid out $39.88, $41.07 was taken from my bank account. SCAM.
